SOURCE OF LIGHTNING is a re-branding project experiment of Lewis’ side project +44. Its main concept relies on the core structure, visual and conceptual, of Tarot cards. The brand revolves around a specific spread of 6 cars that signify the never ending cycle of growth and life in general, which also applies to Lewis’ constant need to seek for his best version and eventually convey this to his fans.

The Tower or, as it was originally known, La Maison Diev is the starting point of this launch/project. This is where everything is born, conceived. According to Plutarch it was the lightning that originated life. It is thanks to this violent form of light the minds of those who inhabitant this tower are set free, rebirth. It is one of the most powerful cards of the Major Arcana given its sudden outbreak that destroys every structure we’ve ever known and built yet it’s the freeing and exciting dance of those who jump out of it that indicates there’s more to come and we should embrace it.

In this first installment the branding is mostly focused on the symbolism of lightning, be it as something to be afraid of like the ancient Greek gods were of Zeus, a defining moment in ours lives that sets us free or the powerful touch of a superior being that shows us our worth. The layout and graphic elements of the poster are spread over the entire page, everything is covered, no inch of space left out since this is the feeling of that dark and heavy cloak of darkness that surrounds us in the night, just before the lightning strikes.
