An almost spoiler free analysis and review of “Mad Place”

Mad Place follows a prosecutor, Gu Sehyuk, as he tries to live life after his brother’s death. He tries his hardest to bring justice to people, especially those who have been through similar loss and grief to himself, he believes in the system of justice around him that he is part of until Ha Ideun stumbles into his life.

Ha Ideun is from a high class well known family but there is no information about him online or any that can be verified by his family. He claims to know something about the current murder case that has befallen the local city and about Gu Sehyuk’s brother. In return for information he offers a trade of sexual favours that Gu Sehyuk in the pursuit of justice takes.

Over the course of the Manhwa he learn a lot about the two main characters and how their are entangled by the failed system of justice. You watch as Gu Sehyuk falls out of love with his job, the police and his higher ups; while falling in love with Ha Ideun and how Ha Ideun is forced to confront his own trauma and learn to trust that Gu Sehyuk wants what is best for him.

I give this yaoi a 9.5/10, it was one of my favourite reads and kept me focused the whole time, now while there aren’t many plot holes in the story, I did feel and many others felt the ending was rushed. Things wrapped up nicely but it was sped through, I do feel that the representation of corruption in the justice system and the rich is well presented and there for (minor spoiler) it made sense for Gu Sehyuk to quit his job. All in all if you want a good read and I think it holds itself well in my top picks!
