It would have been easier to have something to busy herself with, whether it was pouring a glass of wine or something else to distract her from having to confront the current situation. At least for a brief moment she was able to put off saying anything as she moved through the kitchen to put away her wine bottle. Not wanting to be a rude hostess, she took out an assortment of snacks to start setting out, pushing them over towards Asher with an enthusiasm, figuring that if their mouths were full eating then there would be far less time to have to speak.
The question from Asher put another dagger through her heart, head shaking immediately in response. The last thing she wanted was for Asher to feel that she'd done anything wrong when that couldn't have been any further from the truth. "No, of course not. You couldn't - there's nothing you could do to get rid of me, Ash," she responded, words choking in her throat just slightly. There was nothing Asher could do to mess things up with their friendship, but Yasemin had a sinking feeling that she was the one that had fucked up badly enough to cause an irreparable break. Her head dropped down towards her chest, nodding softly in response. There was no sense in trying to lie her way out of this, to try and fake that things were great and she was fine and nothing at all was wrong. Asher knew her too well, she always had.
Shifting to take a seat in one of the chairs that tucked up against the island in the kitchen, Yas sank down a bit, chin resting on her hands. "I'm...you're right, I'm not...super fine right now, exactly," she admitted, that being the only easy part of it to say. Any path that this conversation went, Yas knew things were going to come out. She'd already told Sage that she wasn't going to keep lying to Asher, but even still it was hard to find the words to actually admit what she'd done. What she'd been doing for so many years of their friendship. "I thought...I don't know. I thought I was falling in love with someone again and uh, it turns out that wasn't something that was reciprocated. So, it's uh, I'm just sad, is all. I'll...be alright, though."
@ashfrank
"I'm good," she said, eyeing the brunette as they moved around the kitchen. Something was off. Completely off. Asher considered herself a masterful observer, a skill that had helped her navigate through her youth as sanely as possible. Her ability to note mannerisms and tells allowed her to know when to insert herself into a conversation, when to retreat, and when to remain passive. This was not a passive moment at all. Yasemin was clearly in some form of distress.
"You've been distant, Yas. Like, crazily so. Did I do something?" Asher was not one to easily concede her faults and shortcomings, but Yas was one individual who could keep her accountable at all times, even in her worst moments. They had come through countless times for each other, and although it felt like a rarity to see the pediatrician at their lowest, Asher knew she'd be there to weather the storm with them. Except, it felt like they weren't allowing her to do so. "And don't tell me you're fine because I know you're not." Yasemin was usually far more jovial and had a lighter aura around them. No one could be happy all the time, but Yas was the light and balance of their friendship. If that was gone, where did that leave them? "What is going on?"

It wasn't an untrue statement, Yas was acting out in a relatively childish manner, but she also didn't particularly care to change it. She had no relationship with Thalia, barely knew the woman outside of anything Saul had mentioned about her, so if there was going to be anyone on the other side of her current mood, it may as well be someone like Thalia. "Oh, sorry, I was just following suit with how your sister has been acting. I just assumed that was how we handled things," she shot back with an airy shrug of her shoulders. Thalia herself hadn't done anything particularly offensive, but she could at least grasp at straws and blame the behavior of Kathleen for her own current actions.
@thethaliaclark
Shocking that her ex-husband would befriend someone quite so dramatic. Either Saul was more upset about the divorce than she possibly could have imagined or there was something else bothering Yasemin. It was extremely irksome. Thalia eyed the other woman. She had never been the type to offer comfort though. Most believed she wasn't even capable of it. "Be that as it may, at least I have the tact to not act like a teenager upset at a school dance." Her tone didn't change from the usual civility she provided to everyone except those few she was close with. Anyone who saw them likely wouldn't be able to see any alterations in Thalia's exterior. Internally, she was growing more upset. Many people who knew Saul were upset about Kathleen being the most bitter person alive. Thalia was almost always left out of the equation.

For as long as Yasemin could remember, she had done everything for herself and it was rare that she ever had someone else step in to do something for her. When Saul had not only spent the day with her at the festival trying to cheer her up, but then followed it up with the surprise of a weekend away at a beach resort, Yas hadn't known what to do. From the moment it had been offered, she'd been nothing but effusive with her thank yous to Saul, going out of her way as much as she could to make sure that he was having just as good of a vacation as she was. It was easy for Yas to separate from everything back home, to focus on nothing more than the beach in front of her and the endless supply of margaritas that the cute cabana boy was delivering with perfect timing.
Stretched out in the lounge chair she had taken up residence in for the afternoon, Yas had her shades on, hovering between a nap and casual conversation with Saul. "And here I was going to suggest that we say we booked the trip to celebrate my dad's retirement," she teased back, lowering her sunglasses on her nose to look over at him with a mischievous sparkle in her eyes. "But, no way they think that. They're definitely all convinced you're some eccentric millionaire that came here on vacation with his fourth wife." Whatever assumptions people were making, Yas couldn't have cared less. She was in a tropical paradise with a good friend and there was no chance that she would have to run into or confront Sage for the next few days. "I was going to book a surf session later today, you want to come with me? I can teach you if you've never done it before."
@saulweissberg
availability / @yasdogan setting / the beach outside the villa del palmar resort in cancún, mexico.
the warm breeze coming off the ocean was such a nice change from the frigid mountains of colorado. true, it had been warming up in providence peak, but it was not nearly as pleasant as their current situation. after attempting to cheer yas up post-breakup with sage at the spring festival hadn’t worked as well as he wanted, he knew he had to take extreme measures. though they joked about a yacht trip, it did get his gears turning; while he did make good money, he didn't make enough to be a charter guest à la below deck. the next best thing? a beach vacation, obviously. he had surprised yasemin with two plane tickets and a reservation for a two bedroom suite at the villa del palmar resort in cancún. it was an extravagant gift, but saul loved to splurge on his friends, and hadn't yasemin deserved it?
the resort was absolutely beautiful and he intended to enjoy himself as much as possible. he could only enjoy himself, however, if yasemin was in better spirits. sitting by the pool, saul had been reading an article on his ipad when a server came by and asked him if he wanted a drink. after putting in an order for a mimosa, he turned to look at yas, “y’know, i’m pretty sure they think i’m your dad.” he laughed, though there was a hint of offense in his tone; he couldn’t help a bit of sensitivity over his age. “should we tell them this is your college graduation present? maybe we’ll get a free dessert. you could pass for a recent college grad.”

There was nothing that would inherently give Yasemin the impression that Thalia was a bad person, but none of that really mattered. At the end of the day, Thalia was still a reason for a good friend being upset and that was enough to bring the curl of distaste to Yasemin's lips as Thalia approached. "Oh, that won't be necessary, I think I can choose my own flowers," she replied, pausing just for a moment before the rest of her words tumbled out. "If I was going to ask for help, I'd probably ask someone who makes better choices." As far as Yasemin was concerned, anyone that would choose to leave her friend was someone that made terrible choices. It wasn't normally the type of comment she'd bite out with off the cuff, but with her own swirling emotions from her drama with Sage, it felt good to snap back for a change, to not always be the nice one.
@thethaliaclark
Thalia absolutely loved plants. Kathleen joked that instead of her maternal instincts growing into the desire for a child, Thalia took Little Shop of Horrors too seriously. But what was originally a pleasant trip to pick up something new for the yoga studio turned immediately tense. This was yet another instance where Thalia was annoyed at how charismatic her ex husband was. In her own home town. "Hello Yasemin." Thalia inclined her head slightly and continued to approach. She didn't believe that Saul was spreading lies about her. Waxing poetically about the evil sister-in-law, sure. If Yas wanted to fight though, it would be better to not pick somewhere Thalia was comfortable. "Do you need assistance with choosing a flower?"

There had never been a point in life where Yas had been the type of person to lock her doors when she was home. They stayed open just in case a friend was passing by or a neighbor needed something. The moment she heard it swing open and could sense the familiar footfalls of her best friend, however, there was a clench in her chest and a thought that perhaps her open door policy needed to be amended. She hated to admit that she'd been full on avoiding Asher since things with Sage had once again blown apart, but she had been. It had been easier than trying to explain the constant wallowing and complete one eighty from her usual self. Even if she'd been a phenomenal actor, Asher knew her too well. She would pick up on it in an instant and thus, Yas had opted instead to just make herself scarce.
Yas was in her room when Asher came into the house, bundled up in a blanket with a bottle of wine as she watched her next adventure into trashy reality television drama and let herself cry. Clicking off the show, Yas grabbed the wine bottle to take back to the kitchen, realizing a little too late how bad it looked to be carrying a mostly finished wine bottle around with her. "Ash, hey, can I ah - do you want some wine?" she asked, blinking rapidly as she tried to piece together what to say that didn't sound completely absurd. It was a lost cause, really. Her eyes were puffy and red from crying, the wine bottle was carried with no glass in sight, and it was the first time in too long that she'd seen Asher in person. "I was watching TV in my room. Some stupid...it was stupid. You just getting off work?" Yas was doing her best to just act like everything was normal, even if they both clearly knew otherwise.
@ashfrank
Closed: @yasdogan - Checking in with her best friend.
There was a strange feeling in the air that had been ongoing for quite some time, but Asher just consistently brushed it off. Her tendencies for coasting in what some consider a rather pessimistic, although she'd argue pragmatic mode had a way of dimming her outlook on life in comparison to everyone else around her. If she was considered odd for not jumping for joy every second of the day, so be it. However, she found it unnerving that Yas had been weirdly distant lately. Asher had a way of putting her foot in her mouth without even realizing it at the time. Though she was getting better thanks to her therapist, it was going to take some time for her to be a tad bit more sensitive and mindful of the words that flew off her fiery tongue.
The music director had been playing her interactions with the physician countless times over to see if there was any mishap on her part. Did Yas finally get fed up with Asher and decide to distance themselves once and for all? She wouldn't put it past anybody, but that thought made her nauseous. Yes, she could be a dick, but she needed Yas to counterbalance her in this world. What was she going to do without them? Pulling up to their house, she quietly let herself in, looking around in the foyer to see if there was any sense of life behind the doors. "Yas?" she called out, hearing a sniffling sound deeper in the home. "Where the heck are you?"

The best part about being at a big party with a lot of inebriation was that no one cared to talk about anything serious and even if they did, it wasn't as if much of it would be remembered later. For Yas, this was a chance to just loosen up and enjoy herself in a way that she hadn't in weeks. "Ohhhh, Pablo. Is he the one that's wearing the elephant trunk thing at his waist?" she asked with a snort of amusement, pretty sure that was the name that the guy dropped. He'd been the loudest of the bunch of people so far so it stood to reason that he was probably the crazy one. "But, no! No, I don't - when you put it like that, absolutely not." Yas protested with an insistent shake of her head, even if, perhaps, that was exactly what she'd been looking to do that night. She paused then, head resting over on Seb's shoulder for a moment as she thought about it. "If you have anyone in mind, though, I mean...give me the roster, what are we working with? Top three candidates, go."
@sebvora
Despite having extended an invite to practically every single person he knew in Providence Peak, he never would have expected even half as many to actually show up to his grand birthday party. Family, of course. Close friends, too; the handful of people he could count on coming to support him no matter what. Yas, obviously, was on that list, having always proven over the years that she could make time for him regardless of whatever she was up to in her personal life. He appreciated that more than he could currently say at the moment, so inebriated that any real thoughts about anything couldn’t exactly manifest themselves. He could, however, express that in other ways — like the way his face lit up when he saw her approach him and take up the empty space beside him. He leaned into her and hummed loudly. “Ruuuude. None of my friends are crazy, ‘cept Pablo — he’s like, a little bit.” He held up fingers to signify his point, knocking his head into hers. “Why? Are you tryin’ to like, get freaky on my birthday? ‘Cause I can dig that. We can —” he hiccupped, “— find you the perfect person, dude.”

"I can live with that. You get next time, I've got today," she agreed with a brighter smile. Yas was never one to worry about who was paying for what, figuring that things usually evened themselves out over time. "I know, it's been way too long. Gosh, I can't even remember the last time I saw you." It was probably some work event or industry meeting that she'd seen Dominic at last, but she couldn't put to mind where it had been. "I've got enough time aside right now, nothing until later. I think I have a cocktail hour with a new attending and then a dinner meeting with a potential new neurosurgeon." Luckily, Yas didn't mind meeting people and talking business, so being asked to take people out and woo them over to the hospital was an occasional nice change of pace from the daily grind. "What else have you got going on for the day?"
@dominichuang
dominic glanced over at the other as she spoke and almost immediately shook his head. he was never the type to let anyone pay for him, no matter who they were but he did enjoy sharing his wealth whenever he could with the people involved in his life. "come on, i can't let you pay. if i do, that just means you're going to have to let me buy something for you next time." he paused and smiled over her, "it's nice to see you too. i feel like it's been a while since we've been able to stop and have lunch together. kind of sucks we can't take our time, you know, since you have all those meetings or are you done for the day?"

The weeks since she'd found out about Sage and Gia had been filled with nothing but ups and downs for Yas. Some days she felt almost normal, the days where she was fully caught up in work and didn't have time to think about anything else. Other days, like today, when she had more down time than she was used to, it was harder not to let thoughts of the woman seep into her mind. Luckily, the plans she'd made with Cleo offered a brief respite from it all. "I'm...holding up okay. I don't know. A lot of staying busy at work and bottles of wine," she admitted with a soft shrug. She hadn't talked much about things with Sage, usually the type of person to suffer in silence rather than talk things out. "It is what it is, you know. How about you, doing okay?"

the one thing cleo hated about being an adult was the fact that her schedule and her friends' schedules rarely lined up but she was grateful for when they did. tonight was one of those nights where cleo and yasemin's schedule finally lined up and she truthfully couldn't be more thankful because she needed some girl time. leaning forward after sitting down on her couch, she poured some wine in the glasses she had set on the table in front of them. "so," she started and handed the other one of the glasses, "how have you been holding up? i know it's probably the last thing you want to talk about but i was to make sure you're okay."

It was always different to invite friends away for any length of time when they had a family to worry about. Still, Yas would never want to make plans without at least putting the offer out there for Mei to come along with them. Her eyes softened at the mention of the baby, attention shifting away from the plants she was working with and over towards Mei. "Well, if baby says bedtime is eight, then we go to bed at eight," she affirmed, more than willing to make whatever adjustments Mei needed if she came along. Yas wasn't so old that she had an early bedtime, but also wasn't so young that she needed to be out all night partying either. "We'd love to have you in whatever capacity you want to join us. It's not like any of us can get away for too long anyway, work will always call." The refreshing part about having a group of friends in the medical field was that they understood how it felt sometimes to not be able to take as much time away as other people might have been able to. Yas especially being with the hospital was on call a large part of the time, even when she was away.
@meicarrillo
Mei loved to get outside to help out the community when she could tho it was rare she did enjoy it. Now with the weather becoming slightly warmer, the community has started preparing the garden for spring. Mei was beside Yasmine taking a break from pulling the weeds when she heard her mention a weekend away. As nice as that did sound, Mei wasn't sure how she would feel being away from her wife and kids, even for one night. Though she knew Carmen would let her if she had asked. " That sounds fun. " Mei was happy that her friends were going out to enjoy themselves because damned if they didn't deserve it. " I don't think I will do much of dancing if I go. As of lately, the baby thinks eight is bedtime. " Mei though she was feeling much more like herself as of lately was defiantly becoming more tired as the day went on. " I would have to talk to the wife, but if anything I could do a day trip. " She offered because she would love to go with Yas and Cleo.

As she worked through her emotions following her blow up with Sage, Yas had been doing her best to find new things to focus on that would keep her distracted and, ideally, as far away from Sage as she could manage. Though she had her own yard that she had some smaller gardening projects at, the community garden had been a fun spot to spend some extra time. She was pulling weeds out of the little plot that she was tending, Mei with her to spend a bit of time together working. "Not sure if she mentioned it, but Cleo and I are thinking of doing a girl's weekend sometime soon. Maybe a day at the spa, night out dancing somewhere nearby. You think you'd be able to get away and come with us?"

There was a surprising amount of networking that always had to be done in the medical field, something that Yas had never imagined being involved in herself. She had always found it easy to connect with people, though, and the hospital had always been quick to put that skill to use. With a day away from seeing patients, Yas had been in and out of meetings with other professionals, glad to finally have a sort of break for a lunch meeting with Dominic. "Whatever you want is on me, I've been gifted the company card for all the meetings I have today," she piped up as they stood in the line for their order at the smoothie bar. "They've got me off on meet and greets all day today, I kind of hate it. It's nice to see you, though."

Even if she wasn't in the mood, really, for a party, she would never have missed the chance to celebrate Sebastian. Luckily, it was a party designed for a good time, and after a few drinks and a bit of dancing, plus the added bonus of not seeing Sage anywhere in sight, Yas had loosened up quite a bit. Finding Seb in a rare moment of not having a bunch of people around him, Yas had come over and hopped up onto the bed of someone's truck, sitting next to Seb with her legs swinging dramatically. "Seb. Sebastian. Which one of your friends is single? And not completely crazy?" she asked, leaning over against his shoulder dramatically. "You're married, soooo...I get first pick now. Even if it's your birthday."

Walking around the aisles of the flower shop, Yas was trying to find something cute to put up in her house to brighten the mood. She wasn't sure what she wanted, browsing more for the sake of something to do than any real desire to be there. Her fingers drifted over the price tag of one of the displays for a moment, attention caught up reading the numbers before another figure stepped into her line of sight. Yas wasn't the type of person to actively dislike anyone and, really, she had nothing against Thalia. She was, however, the type of person to stick up for the people she cared about in any scenario. In this case, it was a distinct loyalty to Saul that had a frown creasing her brows. "Thalia," she said simply as a greeting, her voice barely disguising the touch of distaste that accompanied her words.

One of the traits that had always served Yasemin well was a good sense of how other people were feeling and an empathy to adjust herself to whatever vibes were being given off. It was clear that Evrim was nervous, something Yas could partially attribute to her own current low mood from her drama with Sage. "Runs in the family, I've been told," she replied back with a quick smile, doing her best to put her own tension to rest for the time being so that she could be fully present for Evrim. Coming to a stop near Evrim, Yas loosened up, relaxing her shoulders to put herself and, hopefully Evrim, at ease more. "You know, I keep a pretty open mind with stores. You never know what you'll find, so I end up just popping in everywhere." Yas had a pretty particular style, outfits cobbled together from pieces she found all across the mall. She'd always had a sense of style and knew how to dress herself well, as evidenced even by the somewhat less put together outfit she'd opted for that afternoon. "Unless you count the confectionary down at the other end of the mall with the fancy chocolates. That's definitely a favorite. What about you?"
@evrimaksoy
evrim can't remember attending any family gatherings. maybe one or two when their mother was still around. but after she left with safiye and their father decided to become a shell of the man he once was ─ if he was ever a man at all ─ , there was very little reason for father & daughter to go. their father would evrim every so often that the family didn't want them around because they were the bottom of the barrel with nothing to give and nothing interesting to take. now they see that , for the most part is seemed , their father was putting things in their head ; her sisters wanted to meet them , and now her she is meeting a cousin. it was clear from the way their cousin moved that something was off. it made evrim want to recoil. they can't now. it's too late. standing to their feet , they give a small, cautious smile as yasemin draws closer. ❛ hey , ❜ evrim gives a tight , but friendly smile. they're trying. ❛ you don't look scary. not at all , you're actually very pretty. ❜ and they weren't saying that simply because evrim could see the resemblance. it was weirdly frightening. ❛ so , ─ cousin. do you have a favourite store to shop in ? ❜

Whether CJ had been in the exact same scenario that she found herself in or not, feelings were something that most people could relate to. What she felt for Sage was as complicated as their entire situation. She loved the woman, there was no arguing that, but she was also scared to love her. Scared that she was wasting her time, throwing her entire future away for someone that would possibly never want to commit to anything. "Sometimes that's just...kind of life, huh?" she mused with a sad shrug. "It'd be easier if feelings were more...simplistic, easy to figure out. I mean, I should probably hate her, but I don't." It would be easier if she did, but there wasn't a world in which she could even imagine hating Sage. As much as the woman had done to hurt her, the feelings were just too complicated.
An apologetic look back at the line that was already antsy and waiting for them came quickly as Yas made the move to finish ordering, asking for a hodge podge of various tacos that they could share between them. She made sure to over order, guessing that CJ was the type that could absolutely crush some tacos. It was a blessing that her back was momentarily turned to CJ as she picked their order up from the window, giving her a moment to blink in utter surprise at the news about him and Sebastian. "Oh. That's - kind of a big deal," she managed to say back, still trying to wrap her head around the news. "Are you...sure it was just a drunk Vegas thing, though? I mean, a drunk man's words are a sober man's thoughts, no? Or however that saying goes anyway." She didn't know if there was anything more to it than just two morons making a drunken mistake, but it felt important to check in on that fact just in case.
@cjwelford
He didn’t really know if what he said made any sense, in the grand scheme of things or to Yasemin specifically, but he hoped it would at least help in some way. Ultimately though, CJ couldn’t do much, but he could be there for his friend. “I know, well…kinda. Never, like, walked in your shoes or anything, but I do get about feelings being all over the place.” Of course, his complicated feelings about his overall purpose and if he was pissing his life away with his job was completely different to Yas’ situation, but still, complicated all the same. “Finish ordering then I’ll tell you.” He urged gently, already aware that they had made enemies here in the taco line. By her reaction it seemed like Yas hadn’t heard from Seb, which made it all slightly more…messy. When they were finally out of the line, he shrugged at her question. “We’re getting annulled. It’s just some drunk Vegas thing.” At least she wasn’t yelling…yet. “Um, it’s not like…a big deal.” At least, he and Seb didn’t think so, and they were the married ones after all.

"Good. I don't get to spoil people very often, so it's nice when I get the chance," she hummed happily. She did a lot for the people she cared about, as it was just something that gave her a sense of joy. Yas didn't need a lot herself, so being able to share what she had with the people in her corner was always something she tried to do. "Yeah, sometimes...it's hard to justify spending time on things other than work just because I know how important what I do is," she admitted with a shrug. There were definitely times she put her work before herself and her own personal life, something she'd had to learn to shift away from. Times like this, however, where all she wanted to do was stay busy and not think, it was hard not to let herself fully immerse in her job. "Oh, come on, I think I could handle it," she protested with a hand to her chest. "I'm totally ready to be a mom."
@meicarrillo
"Aw, Yas, don't be silly," Mei chuckled, feeling a warmth in her chest at Yasemin's playful banter. She glanced down at the children, who were beaming with excitement over their day out with Yas. "Well, we're glad to have you spoil us every now and then," Mei remarked with gratitude, her eyes shimmering with appreciation. As Yasemin mentioned her work, Mei's expression softened with understanding. "Your work is so important. I mean just think of all of those cases we have had together and helped. " Mei said earnestly, her admiration for her friend evident in her voice. " Trust me, one day in our lives and you would be so exhausted. I love it though." She offered Yasemin a supportive smile, silently grateful for her friend's dedication to such a noble cause.

As they arrived downtown, Yasemin was grateful for the brief moment of time in the car when Saul got out, giving her just a second to breathe and gather herself. Already her mind was starting to whirl with the concern that at any moment she could be walking right into another confrontation with Sage. As much as she'd like to think she was quite capable and strong and able to handle her emotions, seeing Sage was just difficult. Were it up to Yas, she might have never left her house again to make it easier on herself. All of her worries were pushed aside as she exited the car, happily taking Saul's arm to let him lead the way inside. "You should come by the hospital sometime for sure, it's always easy to catch him on lunch there," she suggested with a nod, though selfishly a part of the invitation was just to get Saul to come and visit her at work.
Though Yas was much less convinced that getting out and seeing other people was something she was ready for, she also knew that she wanted to make this transition as quickly as she could. The less time it took to get past everything with Sage, the less of her life she'd end up wasting on someone that was never going to end up with her. "Yeah, yeah you're right. Even if nothing comes of it, a bit of practice getting back out there couldn't hurt," she agreed. It had been awhile since she'd been out on a date. Things with Sage had sort of closed her off to it all, left her uninterested in anyone else when the one person she wanted was right there. Luckily, Saul was right, there were loads of cute people in town, she just had to be willing to open herself up to them. "You are indeed the cutest person in town, Saul. Must you ruin everyone else in town for me?" she teased, leaning over against his shoulder with a playful laugh. Her gaze started to shift along the crowd, evaluating and looking out to see who might be of interest. "I don't have anyone in mind, but - I'm not super picky, I think? Everyone has something to offer, so I could...I guess give anyone a chance?" Even if just one date, there was never any harm to trying. At this point it wasn't as if anyone could get much worse than trying to pursue her best friend's sister. "No chance you have any attractive, successful attorneys you work with? Anything other than a bartender this time."

if he was to be honest, saul was just humoring yas. he was curious about this doctor she spoke of, but he intended to spend the night hanging out with her. at least until it was time to go to the movies with dean, but before that, he was all hers. he’d ply her with wine and try to distract her from her troubles, or listen while she cried (again). he’d buy her whatever she wanted from the stalls and get her any sort of food she desired. and, above all, beg god to keep sage away from downtown for the night. “hmm, well, you know how much i love to have all eyes on me.” saul chortled, wagging his brows. “maybe i’ll have to stop by the hospital for lunch some time, if he’s not hanging around town tonight.” pulling into the public parking for the market festival, he stopped the car near the entrance and leapt out of the car, then hurried to the other side to offer his arm to yas.
moving through the crowd, saul took in the scenery. though his office had been downtown for years, he hadn’t attended the last two spring events the town held. he had worried he wasn’t integrated into society yet, that his ex-in-laws would have a problem with him joining in on the festivities. this year, he had decided he wasn’t going to let that stop him. it was busier than he expected, but it was opening night. perhaps things would calm down in a few hours. saul turned his attention back to yas. “ah, that’s the spirit. even if it doesn’t go beyond one date or bloom into a real relationship, you should at least try and see what’s out there.” there had to be someone better than her best friend’s older sister. if she was willing to think of someone for him, he’d have to think of someone that was single for her. he could pull someone from town or back home in manhattan, or maybe one of his younger cousins spread throughout the states. the thought of yasemin joining the weissberg clan was heartwarming, actually. “oh, there’s loads of cute people in town! me, for instance.” saul used his other hand to gesture towards his face and flashed a cheesy grin. “i’ll bet there’s someone here that’s good for a night. point them out, i’ll bring them to you.”
