ہے آج سجن کی پیاس بہت کیوں دل مسکیں ہے اداس بہت؟ نس نس میں ہے شوق کی باس بہت آنکھوں سے لگی ہیں کیوں جھڑیاں؟ مکھڑا اِک بدر ہے شعثانی ماتھے پہ ہیں لاٹیں نورانی زلفیں کالی، اور مستانی آنکھیں ہیں نشیلی مَدھ بھریاں دو ابرو مثالِ قوس لگیں جن سے مژگاں کے تیر چلیں لب لعلِ یمن کی سرخی دیں اور دانت ہیں موتیوں کی لڑیاں اس صورت کو میں جان کہوں جانان کہ جانِ جہان کہوں سچ کہوں تو رب کی شان کہوں جس شان سے ہے ہر شان عیاں یارب! ہو یہ صورت پیشِ نظر جب نزع لگے، جب ہو محشر جب قبر میں ہو اور پُل پہ گزر سب کھوٹے بھی ہوں گے کھرے جہاں آؤ حجرے سے مسجد پیارے انک نوری جھلک مانگیں سارے ہیں آنکھیں بچھائے متوارے سب اِنس و ملک حوریں پریاں ان روتے ہوئے دیوانوں پر ان صدقے اترتی جانوں پر بے دام غلام انسانوں پر پھر آئیں خدایا! وہ گھڑیاں سُبْحَانَ اللہ مَا اجْمَلَکَ مَا اَحْسَنَکَ مَا اَکمَلَکَ کہاں مہرؔ علی، کہاں تیری ثنا گستاخ نظر جا ٹھہری کہاں (پروفیسر کرم حیدری (کرم داد خان)) سُبْحَانَ اللہ مَا اجْمَلَکَ سبحان اللہ! آپ ﷺ کتنے جمیل ہیں مَا اَحْسَنَکَ مَا اَکمَلَکَ آپ ﷺ کتنے حسین ہیں، آپ ﷺ کتنے کامل ہیں
