In ~these times~ it is important for queer people to be reminded of what "coming out" originally meant. "Coming out" did not mean telling all of your co-workers something super stigmatized and vulnerable about you, wearing your queer status on your sleeve in public, informing the police or government institutions about your sexuality, or even telling your parents. "Coming out" meant venturing out into the queer community; being among other queers as a queer yourself.
Coming out isn't about telling the entire world when doing so is not safe for you, it's not about arming your enemies with information they could use against you. No, coming out is about making a fulfilling queer life possible for yourself through participation in the queer community. It is about escaping the restrictions and dangers of the cisgender heterosexual world by rooting oneself more deeply into the queer one.
And you can always do that. No matter how oppressed we are. No matter how much the culture shifts and policies are enacted to terrorize us. We are always able to be ourselves when we are amongst each other. And living our queerness has always been a collective social project, not just a matter of personal exposure.

So I have this theory that all the kiddads (sans Terry jr) were so focused on **not** becoming their dads that they neglected to be the dads their kids needed
Sparrow (and Lark) for example were obsessed with image and how things looked and Normal being, well, normal. “I love you but I wish I was proud of you” or “that I liked you”. Henry may have had some issues but not a fucking day went by that he didn’t encourage the twins to be **exactly** themselves and whoever they wanted to be.
Grant did the same. he tried to be emotionally available without actually addressing any of the issues internally. He pushed a ton of emotional labor onto Lincoln in attempt to communicate honestly which led to massive amounts of distrust, and most of which was frankly too much. He expected his 15 year old son to be at the same level of emotional maturity he as an adult was at which is frankly, insane.
Nick became his own worst nightmare tbh. Code purple meant Taylor was ripped from him the same way he was ripped from Glenn. Bro spent 6 years with his kid only to lose it all because of a decision made without him. And even after he got back to Taylor he was still so removed from his life.
Terry Jr tried his best man idk, he’s like the one well adjusted kiddad and just wanted so badly to be there for Scary and Veronica.
Crazy to think about how Henry's parenting style was useless for the twins, but would have immensely benefited Normal and Hero growing up.

listen i KNOW they backtracked with her character so fast but i literally cannot get over it (which is a me thing i know) but your husband calls you and says your son is missing and your first? thought? is to call them an idiot? and not trust them? like???? HELLO????
Maybe I'm misremembering but I don't think Carol Wilson was ever mean? Like, sure she got angry at Darryl when he called her and said he lost Grant, but that is imo a pretty reasonable reaction! And it isn't mean for her to want a divorce that's just how it goes sometimes. I think yall maybe just don't like women

dndads Kelsey grammar really is the character of all time. She’s a teacher. She’s a boxer. She’s a gambling addict. She’s a plagiarist. She once had sex so bad she counted it as -1 on her body count then proceeded to join a bowling team with the guy. She loves crime shows. She has weight in all the right places (which is everywhere). She is a safe haven for teens who are not bisexual because that hasn’t been invented yet. She made a deal with an eldritch horror to help her with her encyclopedias. She even has vaguely homoerotic tension with a robot. What can’t she do?

I will admit as a lesbian on the internet that sometimes lesbians on the internet will see two women barely interact and then ship them (which totally cool and correct of them to do). That is NOT what is happening with Trudy and Kelsey those women have layers of homosexuality going on to the point that I am convinced the ghost of a dead lesbian teacher from the 50s has possessed Matthew Arnold and is speaking through him without his knowledge. I hope that Trudy and Kelsey figure it all out and kill Tucker and end up having a wonderful life with their newly acquired murderson Francis Farnsworth. And Freddie’s there too I guess

oh god i’d heard about the “i won’t commission artists who undercharge for their art” post and now it’s making its rounds on my dash.
please understand that this concept does not actually help anyone. the sensible thing to do if an artist is undercharging is to tip them for what you think their work it worth, and be sure to let them know that. even if this doesn’t cause them to actually change their base prices, at least YOU’RE paying for what it’s worth, and THEY’RE getting business instead of nothing.
by essentially boycotting artists who are already unsure of the value of their own work (and are thus underpricing) you’re not sending any positive message. no one is going to up their commission prices when nobody is buying them. the only thing the artist gets out of it is that people don’t want to buy their art for some reason, and people who’s products aren’t selling aren’t going to say “oh i guess it was because i wasn’t charging enough, i’ll pump up the prices!”
if you want to support a commission artist, please do it by actually SUPPORTING THEM WITH COMMISSIONS rather than by choosing to take your business elsewhere because their prices were too low.
