It's so annoying how often people just kinda project their own opinions of Berdly into Kris. Like it's either oh I hate Berdly so obviously they must hate Berdly he's so annoying! or Oh I love Berdly so Kris obviously loves Berdly too! They play games together!
When like... Ugh... Kris in the weird route doesn't want Berdly to die they take him to the hospital they make sure he's healing they get distressed when he's mentioned but also they won't crash out over him either. You can try to kill him and then abort the route in chapter 4 and Kris won't treat you any differently. They won't start biting their hand to stop your choices or attempt suicide by apple core or kick the shit out of you. It's only when you keep hurting Noelle that they deem you unforgivable. They won't let Berdly die but they aren't protective of him. It's more a responsibility than a personal investment. Every time Noelle is brought up in the weird route Kris reacts violently, they nearly pass out at the Susie music sheet section, they kick the hope candles. Compare that to when Berdly's mentioned in chapter 3 or even when he gets snowgraved in chapter 2 when Susie's reaction to Kris's reaction is far more tame. I'm not trying to make this Kris and Noelle's relationship but I kinda have to in order to contrast just how different Kris's reactions are and how much they care. You can kill Berdly and Kris will be upset that's their classmate a friend of a friend but nothing more. You hurt Noelle and Kris will lose it on you.
Idk maybe I'm being a bit harsh. If anyone has a more charitable take I'd like to hear it. This isn't me pushing an anti kerdly agenda or something I'm trying to wrap my head around Kris.
Ship what you want don't let me ruin your fun I just needed to get this off my chest.

Thinking about Dess's name. Thinking about Kris's name. December Holiday, Krismas. Kris was in a way bound to Dess from the word go. Is it any wonder why Kris is so fixated on getting her back? Why they take her loss heaviest of all? Why they are still bound to her even as the knight? Why their animations mirror the knights so closely?
Thinking about how Noelle would search her missing sister's name on the internet only to get back the name of her distant friend.

Meme I shamelessly stole from reddit

the knight has so much aura its fucking bonkers. easily one of the coolest aspects of this game visually. all its animations are fluid and radiate so much damn personality you can just FEEL the smugness and certainty

I think a lot about Malak's "If I'd been in your place, could I have been redeemed too?" from the light side ending for several reasons. For one it's one of the few times in the game that Malak isn't just being presented as the two-dimensional villain he is in the rest of the story. For the second, it's another example of kotor 1 pushing it's "brainwashing to the light side=redemption" thing, which is... interesting.
And for the third: imagining the Jedi council actually trying their brainwashing plan with Malak is really funny. Because like 40% of why brainwashing Revan worked is because they're the most anonymous person in existence. And Malak just, isn't.
Look at them
No one is going to look at brainwashed Revan and think that they're the dark lord of the Sith, partly because everyone thought Revan was dead, but also because under that mask they could be literally anyone. Most people in the galaxy probably had their own headcanons for what Revan looked like, and they probably didn't imagine the average Joe/Jane that you play as during the game.
Meanwhile a brainwashed Malak will have heard how he 'looks just like that dead sith lord' a hundred times before even leaving Taris.

Replaying Kotor and something about Chuundar defending his alliance with Czerka by saying they would have killed them all if he hadn't done what he did while also using that situation to get rid of any potential rivals and receive advanced technology to benefit the wookies in the long term reminds me of how Kreia and Hk-47 talk about Revan and their methods at Malachor.
I had to choose between two terrible choices so I chose what would benefit the long term while also serving my personal interests. Idk is this anything?
