HEADCANON : UNDERAPPRECIATION & UNDERUTILIZATION.

thinking about the " sudden " reveals in s2 that millie doesn't feel appreciated and.. it doesn't feel that sudden to me?

millie througout the series is very clearly depicted as the muscle of the team, as well as being quick-witted in some scenes ; a good example would be when shes fighting the mutant catfish in Spring Broken, where she confronts Verosika with her own flask right after said battle in order to blackmail her team into stepping down from their Demon Duel.

despite her show of strength and quick thinking, she's not thanked, which leads me to believe that this is the norm for her growing up since she doesn't mention being bothered by the lack of verbal affirmation even as a joke. along with seeing all her unnamed bothers in Harvest Moon Festival and given the implications in Hell's Belles -- where Sallie complains that she now has more responsibilities ever since Millie left the family ranch -- i'm lead to believe that our favorite powerhouse is the eldest of SEVERAL children, which already places her in the position of being a " natural " caretaker that puts their needs second to others.

and it makes so much sense why we didn't see this in the earlier season, back before they were really getting the business off of the ground. with their business growing and the stakes getting higher, Millie's feeling of inadequacy -- the feeling of being too much of one thing or not enough for another -- is no longer a small voice in the back of her mind, one that she can easily snuff out like she did back when her mother teased her about her freelance work.

they have more to lose now than ever, they can't be lackadaisical with their financial decisions anymore. Loona's now becoming more of a member of the team than ever, both inside and outside the office. they're becoming less of a rag-tag group of misfits and more of a true found family of sorts, and Millie doesn't want to lose it after all the effort they put into getting THIS far.

so when Blitz still hasn't confronted himself with the fact that the Bird Prince did a number on his heart and didn't take this time to reflect on his desires and need for a whole month -- AND hasn't payed anyone said month while impulsively spending savings on useless junk -- of course she's gonna be pissed that his personal life is bleeding into his work life, and in the worst way possible! Blitz has always been a person that's dictated by his emotions, and she draws a thick line in the sand when it starts interfering with their lives both inside and outside of work.

it doesn't help that the Bird is working with them now, and one of her closest friends has seemingly done a whole 180 in personality in an attempt to be partly as supportive as his daughter as his friends have been to him. while there's nothing wrong with being supportive of someone you care for, Millie starts seeing this new behavior and person as a problem when it starts changing the rules of the job and hindering their ability to do it affectively, even if it's indirectly, but ESPECIALLY when her own valid judgement and abilities start being brushed off or second-guessed when they haven't been before.

needless to say, Millie is certainly going to have some serious discussions whether or not canon is going to throw her out the narrative picture or not.

millie's parents were definitely the type of generation who didn't believe in birth control, but still openly complained when they didn't have enough food to go around.

on top of being the oldest and automatically becoming the 3rd parent when Lin and Joe kept popping out kids, mills used to go hungry or miss dinners on purpose so that her younger siblings could have larger portions.

as a result, she developed a weird connection with food, going as far as bragging that she can go a number of days without eating, which is something that was normalized amongst her peers in her teens as a sign of toughness in the face of limited resources. this has carried on into her adult life, where she often buys food in bulk if she has the funds to do so, and she can be seen taking stock before and after leaving home.

when dining out, she'll usually pick one of the cheaper options on the menu, even if someone else is footing the bill. an internal wave of guilt will hit her once she figures out the math of everyone's combined meals, and she'll covertly offer to share her food as a way to feel less selfish about her portion and as a way to strengthen bonds between the people she's eating with.

she gives you the quiet confrontation. be afraid.. be very afraid.

so i have opinions about the latest episode! no surprises there!

i will be implimenting a warning tag and putting my thoughts under the readmore!

❥ millie barfing at an overly-cute Santa decoration is a Mood™ ; some decorations were not meant to exist, especially the Uncanny ones.

❥ love her dedication to her job, even after Blitz called it off. she doesn't know about his internal conflict and probably sees his backpedaling as something he said but didn't mean because Birdy was reacting terribly to the Karen's attitude and Blitz was trying to help him feel better, while also trying to feel less guilty about his past behaviors and decisions.

❥ additionally, i adore seeing mox being the emotionally supportive one beyond asking if she's okay after her outburst. he's holding her hands, he's assuring her that he knows she didn't mean what she said, and he's embracing her with a firm but straighforward love that reminds me of millie's confrontation with moxxie in the EAO episode.

❥ if blitz could quit flip-flopping between trying to be the Bird's supportive friend or his supportive lover, that'd be great, because i'm having difficulty trying to figure out which one hes trying to be

❥ do i feel like her being a mom could be interesting? absolutely! do i think the show should go through with it? ... no, not really. trying to get millie content that doesn't involve her husband or blitz is more difficult than pulling teeth, and adding a baby into the mix isn't building onto her in a creative way ; it feels like the writers didn't want to delve into millie consistantly the same way that we've seen blitz and moxxie be built and explored because.. she's got the most stable upbringing in comparison to her fellow team members, and they don't think that can be expanded into anything interesting plot-wise.

❥ adding onto the previous bullet, if anything, i hope that they take advantage of their rating and go for the uncommon path taken and explore the results that come with abortion, seeing how people treat you or think of you differently and the recovery process that comes with such a potentially life-altering decision.
