Fallout 4 is like "clear out this area of enemies and then you can build a settlement on it. Yeah it's a house with a collapsed roof that you can't repair and a huge hole in the ground, don't worry about it"
And right next to it there's an empty military base or an intact building that used to be a mental hospital, that would be a way safer place to live in. but you can't move people in there. They would rather live in a wooden shack next to a hole with radioactive water
#fallout 4 is so stupid#but I continue building cities in it like I'm playing sims#it's so bad. I love it

I also don't understand the logic of fallout 4's settlement building like by default your settlers are living in very badly built wooden shacks. This implies that they built it. Why do all of them have uneven fences and walls, does no one care enough to build a house normally. with a later update you can build green houses but these green houses have already broken windows and holes in the walls. Again why are they building it this way, why does it look like it's been there for at least 50 years. Did we build these houses or where they there are all along, what's the story here.
Diamond city is supposed to be the biggest city in the Commonwealth but it looks like it's been built two days ago. meanwhile in the original fallout, Shady Sands had properly built buildings and looked cleaner.
The wooden shacks imply that wood as a material is hard to come across, but you can build concrete buildings also. Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't concrete be harder to build in a post apocalyptic scenario than wooden houses
#nothing makes sense here it's just vaguely post-apocalptic looking#I mean the wood looks like shit and it's uneven#like they just grabbed whatever they could find

Fallout 4 environmental artists were like here is this area with zero flat surfaces, huge holes in the ground, the most uneven terrain, unscrapable garbage on the ground. Perfect place to build a settlement. Oh this completely flat surface right next to it? You can't do anything there
