like dante just wants to be a family again. it's all he's ever wanted. but vergil's always been stuck in this sort of state where he *needs* to chase power because he wasn't strong enough to protect himself when it mattered and he wasn't strong enough to protect his family and he'll be damned if it happens again but he's never strong *enough* (until nero comes along. because nero is his son: he's inherited the power that vergil already had. and he was able to protect the ones that he loved when it mattered: something vergil couldn't. so this is it. the chase for power is rendered useless because nero is his magnum opus)
