"jake, stop!" you gasped, breaking the kiss, giggling. you pressed your hands against his chest, trying to create some distance between you both.

he had that shit-eating grin on his face again as he looked at you with those doe eyes. "do you really want me to stop if you're smiling this much, hmm?" he said, leaning his face on his palm, his eyes occasionally flickering to your lips.

"we have to study." jake finally released his hold on your waist—the warmth beside you leaving, making you feel colder than you'd like to admit.

"quiz me then," he said, propping his hands on the couch cushion.

"and if i get it right, you have to kiss me," he added confidently, with that same smirk on his face as before.

"you're ridiculous." you rolled your eyes as you looked through your flashcards for a hard question.

"alright, what's hooke's law?"

jake didn't even blink before he replied, "force applied to the spring is directly proportional to the extension, considering that the limit of proportionality is not exceeded."

your mouth parted in shock. you had never seen jake this studious before and eager to answer a stupid physics question. he was really desperate, huh?
