Just finished the first arc of In Darkness Embrace and I'm calling it now: First (of Hydra) is the Autarch's aide. They set up the 'terrorist attack', which they knew the Autarch could survive, to gain an excuse for military control over Ceres and to sew distrust between the people of the central sectors and the people of the periphery. Scapegoating the Istri's will also discourage future representatives of Investor Houses from trying to bring in more wild cards in the future.

I should have known the Autarch acquiesced far too easily in the meeting. It's likely that he saw the split vote and realized it wouldn't be long until the majority were voting to bring in peripheral sectors, so he decided to take control of the narrative.

hurt me to say that bc i’m a super cain lover but wtf is this intimate scene? i didn’t had context and i wasn’t sure ab how it was but is TOO BAD? i couldn’t still reading it after see her scared and knowing what happened next, in a moment like that i only wanted a scene of cain hugging lane or she in his lap and him stroking her head. definitely, not always can add a spicy scene, and this is the case in which would better being emotionally closer than physically.

i don’t wanted to read it but hs3 and astrea force me to do it and is hard for me let hsr go and accept what is now😞

this is the second of my favorite LIs ruined by the writer😘 i don’t have hope

That Dmitry scene

(Warning: spoilers)

All of it was awful for several different reasons.

1. No means no. This one’s obvious. If a man is pushing your face away, damn. That’s a hell no.

2. Why she did it. Manipulation. She wanted to avoid answering Dmitry’s questions. I get that him not trusting her stings, but he was right. He absolutely cannot trust her. She proved it.

3. Continuing out of spite. Because he said no and doubted her honesty. If the genders were switched, no one would question that this is sexual assault.

4. Coercion is okay if it’s the woman doing it. That’s what this scene says. Thankfully, most people have brains to recognize that this is bad. But if there are those who don’t, this is a very dangerous and disgusting thing to perpetuate.

5. The graphic details. I always find bj scenes to be gross anyway, but the choking bit makes it even more gross. Is that part necessary? Are there people who find this alluring? Also, I’m tired of this obsession with size. Why does every guy have to be too big? It’s dumb and boring. Plus that 💩 hurts!

Overall, this is a great way to ruin your MC. Have audiences and her LI lose respect for her. Just, why? Does Sasha really think this is sexy? This makes me want to drop my Dmitry slot. It’s a shame because I really like Dmitry. But I don’t see how it can be recovered. Thankfully, there are other LIs to fall back on. Time to go back to my Greg slot…

Some thoughts on the Advent No. 3 update

Now things are starting to get more interesting.

• Despite Xander’s previous predatory behaviors, he really does make the story more interesting. I found myself preferring his scenes over Adriana’s scenes, even though I like Adriana more. And I will admit, he’s got a great smile. Damn, you beautiful asshole.

• Martin reminds me of Steve Rogers before the super serum turned him into Captain America. What’s Maria’s secret serum supposed to do? 🤓

• Speaking of Maria, super unethical methods, no? So much for having a close, personal relationship with her.

• But really. What’s the serum supposed to do? If Zane supposedly has high compatibility with it and still looks like that… 😬 It’s already killed one volunteer. Hmm, something tells me Dr. Shu won’t be disclosing that info to the public. Oh, that sweet, nice girl act sure is something.

• We also met Lang, who looks like a human version of Doc Hudson from Cars. He works for the 3rd Division. I don’t remember what that division does exactly, but it’s something serious that has Raina feeling threatened. He’s after Raina for being connected to two operatives’ deaths, which Xander is probably behind. It sounds CIA-ish.

• The new LI, Max. He’s giving me Australian Paul Walker (RIP 😢). This guy looks like he surfs. He’s pretty, isn’t he? He has a sense of humor that I don’t think I share… I didn’t really find his joking funny or cute. However, he kept a bunch of drunk creeps far away from Raina, then scared away Doc Hudson. He can work in my factory anytime. 😉 However, I feel like I need to beware of a catch here…

• My main overall thought is this: where is all this going? This is a complex world. We’re building many different storylines and motives and even more characters. We’re approaching Ep. 9 out of 10, and I still don’t know what’s going on.

What’s the Golden Fleece program really doing? Are we ever going to see Zane’s recon team? Are we gonna fight monsters? Are we becoming the next Captain America? Are we still Adriana’s Deep Throat? How do we actually know Xander? There’s been a lot of hinting about a common past, but we still haven’t seen it. Who’s the Chancellor and is he a LI?

There’s so much unanswered questions. Instead of any of them being answered, we’re just introduced to even more questions. Are we just wandering around in the dark? I want to get to the point of this story already. I want some concrete information and a plot that stays in place. I just feel like there’s so much going on, but nothing is actually happening.

Two things

1) I like that LoD books have their own unique tab section! This book has an ancestry tab while IDE has a bunch of lore tabs so you get an in depth explanation of how everything in that world operates so it varies by book necessity which eats

2) MC’s mom is literally Indian why do NONE of the sprites look like they’re even half Indian? Having half white MCs doesn’t mean you can negate your other ethnic half’s features you're not sneaky. That can be the case sometimes but that’s not typical right ???

the way i could pay for hsr being rewritten and giving it what it deserved? like, changing the scenes with anna and giving so much more to her and greg, deleting the shit scenes, changing the behavior of MC, i don’t know, but writing it by other writer, it wouldn’t happen but i’m really sad bc hsr had SO MUCH POTENTIAL literally was my favorite book and now i’m just so mad

I kind of hate that whenever someone says that they find SC to be confusing, there's always people in the comment section being like "DID YOU EVEN READ THE BOOK, YOU IDIOT??" and as someone who read it and found it confusing, I would just like to say that I've read the Alchemist and deception point and SC is 100x more confusing than those books. If you're going to introduce 50,000 subplots then you also gotta know how to switch between them in such a manner that people don't find it confusing. You give hints and then go "SIKE, the murderer was someone else all along" what was the point of foreshadowing then? Unpredictability is exciting only when you're able to make sense of it.
