〝 You… 〞

One of the few things Jiang Cheng remembered about how and why he’d come to this place was a report of strange energies. Of course he’d gone to investigate. He’d been on edge since he’d arrived, and now he was standing face-to-face with the reason why. In his right hand, he held up the paper cut-out between his thumb and forefinger, letting it wriggle in feeble attempts to escape. 

〝 Did you think I wouldn’t catch you spying on me, Wei Wuxian? 〞

The paper-man crumpled easily in Jiang Cheng’s fist as he paid little heed to whatever damage that might do to it’s creator. 

┫ Wei Wuxian would admit that curiosity had seized him by the collar and lead him to spy upon the one person who likely hated him more than anything else at the moment. Surely anyone else would view this as a death sentence, but Wei didn’t really fear death. Though he did wince once he was discovered. He should’ve known that his once sworn brother would’ve caught onto his antics and taken note to the paper cut-out tagging along with him. Even so he wanted to believe that his plan had a chance of working. 

┫  Severing his connection to the paper doll, not a moment too soon, he took a step back. He knew those in control of this place granted gifts, and he didn’t wish to feel the wrath of which ever gift Jiang Cheng was bestowed with. Being face to face with the person who loathed him though, would not push forth the truth. 

┫ “WHA-!! Do you just go around destroying everyone’s property just because you're some big shot clan leader?!! I already told you Im not WEI WUXIAN ! ! Also Im not spying on you. How conceited.”

┫ “I have no idea what you’re referring to. Just because you’re a clan leader doesn’t mean I’m who think I am.”

 ‘Said- “the risk i took was calculated. but clearly i am bad at maths ”

┫ "At least you calculated and gave it your best shot. But surely next time we should recruit someone who knows at least some numbers." A defeated sigh leaves the young man as he gazes at their current predicament. Surely the math limitation would've been something good to know from the start but he supposes they will just have to make do for now. And what was their oh so troublesome predicament?? A snack machine. A petty one at that. Considering it had so sneakily taken his money without providing goods in return. Well it did make the effort to provide something but that snack was currently stuck pressed up against the glass and metal coil it was released from.

┫ Wei had asked the stranger for help once shaking the machine a couple of times did not work. The stranger's help only ended him with a still stuck snack {which now seemed to have some friends stacked upon it as company} and his own arm stuck within the machine.

┫ "I suppose this could be worse but I would really like my arm back at some point, no one informed me that the device would end up being so cruel."

┫ “Thats the spirit! I do admire a person with a sense of confidence, although you realize if you don’t survive I’ll be writing my surname upon your grave right? And if you do survive I’ll treat you to anything of your choosing.” there was a playful smile added to his words as he handed the other a cup filled with a liquid substance. It looked like water downed rice porridge, and resembled such in the stray rice pieces floating to the top. But there was an odd smell writhing from it, spices that battled for dominance within the concoction. It smelled like perhaps the typical over the counter hot sauce.

  ┫ “Well then cheers to a long life and hopefully an opened air way!” he cheerfully stated as he held up his own cup of the same substance and downed it in one go. Clicking his tongue after and looking into the cup with a pondering gaze. “..hm definitely could’ve used some more salt..or liquor...”

“I have not noticed anyone else besides me here in the parks.” too caught up looking at the nature to figure out that a stranger was also doing the same, although, he did notice the object in that. Curiosity getting the best of the merman. “Do you play the flute?”

┫Wei had taken to roaming the parks as of late, trying to enjoy the scenery that this place had to offer. Figuring that it was a much more productive pass time than getting into trouble. “ Sometimes that’s a good thing, having a park all to yourself sounds like an adventure waiting to happen.” he commented with a smile before twirling the colorful flute between his fingers. He was aware that the object in question was a child’s toy, yet it was a habit to carry something like it around with him. “ Yep. Usually not this one specifically, but I’m getting better at it! Earlier I managed to play at least 3 decent notes which I think is pretty good progress.”

 Oh no, no, NO. He’d only come to this place in order to try and pick up wrapping paper or something like that - but there had been a rush for the door that left him dizzy and many of the rushing people who lived here knocked him to the floor, out cold - when he slowly opened his eyes once more, the blackness of unconsciousness flickering to the familiar sight of the store, he jumped to his feet in alarm at a big metal bar now being firmly across the door. L-locked? Oh no oh no, he hadn’t gotten out in time? Any firm knocks to the locked door to try and move the lock resulted in only a sore hand, but…if that DANGEROUS thing was outside, maybe being inside the store was better right now?!  He swore one of the shadows of the store MOVED, though. “i-it’s just furniture, just furniture - everything’s fine! E-everything’s fine!” Trying to convince himself of that went right out the non-existent Ikea windows at actually LEGITIMATELY seeing one of the shadows move, though. OKAY, NOPE. Nope nope nope. He ran away from the moving shadow and huddled behind a piece of furniture, trying to stay still…if he pretended to not be moving or an actual person, the shadow would leave him alone until the doors unlocked!!

┫ Wei had figured that the large shop before him would be as good as any to start his exploration of this strange new land. After all, it seemed to be buzzing and over flowing with all different type’s of individuals so surely he could get someone to talk to him. At least that was the initial plan, but the location seemed to cater to more of Wei’s interests than the individuals also browsing the selections. The young man had gotten lost within the many rows upon rows of home goods and interior decorations. Messing around with some of the goods as well and trying to figure out exactly how the inventions worked. He spent a good while tinkering with a display microwave and blender. It was a surprise he didn’t get kicked from the store.  

  ┫ Though what was even more surprising to the young man was when he decided to take a quick nap on one of the display beds. Waking with groggy gaze,  it took him awhile to recall where exactly he was. As he recalled he patted the plush mattress with a smile and climbed off the bed to head towards the exit. Stretching all the while, until he came upon the dead bolted door. Oh great. He wasn’t too sure whether he should laugh and or channel all his energy into kicking down the door. He decided to go for neither and just fiddle with the lock. Maybe he could use one of the displays to ram down the door? 

┫ Running off to gather anything he could find he failed to notice the other male trapped inside with him. That is until he heard his voice. Oh so he thinks that he’s a ghoul? A mischievous smile spreads on his face as he decides he might as well make light of the situation at hand. Purposefully hiding away in the shadows to watch the other taking a hiding place of his own. Sneakily he made his way over to the piece of furniture and settled down within the other side keeping hidden before crawling  over to take his spot beside the scared male.  

┫ “So who exactly are we hiding from?” he spoke up.

┫ “ I’m sorry to say this but Lotus pod seeds are way more superior compared to..well these funny looking snacks that seem more like miniature hats for fingers. I will add points for entertainment though. ” he says all to casually as he places the cone shaped snacks on each one of his fingers and waves them around.

┫ Having located a few paper slips within the pockets of his robes, Wei figured that he would make use of them. Although perhaps he should save them for a much more important occasion. Yet such a thought was thrown to the wind as he had a theory to test out. Plus how fun would experiments be if a little adventure and mischief wasn’t added into the mix? After all, this location did seem to have its lack of burial sites. So testing out this power at the moment seemed more probable than having a party with a few corpses. 

┫ Soon the human shaped paper slip within his palm seemed to take on a life of it’s own, comically stretching its paper limbs. Before jumping onto the path a little way’s in front him and taking to running in circles. The young man couldn’t help but smile content that he was still able to hold on to such a talent.  Except such happiness didn’t last long before a foot came crashing down on his parade. 

┫❝ AH-! Excuse me miss! ❞ ! he exclaimed coming up to her before giving a disheartening sigh. ❝ Not sure how to say this but you’re currently stepping well...on Me. ❞ he explained as the slip currently struggled (a bit dramatically might I add) underneath her shoe.

┫❝I’m not sure whether to laugh or be upset at the fact that my instrumental talent does not transfer well with such a gift.❞ he admitted aloud as he looked at the colorful wooden flute within his grasp. He had just tried to play it and it (much to no one’s surprise) emitted an awful ear piercing sound. He’s more than certain that he likely got some side eye glares, but he was to occupied with figuring out how to control the sounds from the toy.

Do you think that it would sound better? ❞  he causally asked a bystander, whether she would take note to him or not, he didn’t mind whichever outcome would be thrown at him.  ❝ ...Maybe I could trade it for a bamboo stick instead?
