Late for WIP Wednesday but oh well!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I got the collar done on my Oatmeal Sweater (by Kutavakika) that I'm knitting for my partner. I'm super excited to move on to the sleeves, but I'm not sure how I'm going to block it since 1) it needs 6 in of circumference blocked into it, 2) I don't have blocking mats, and 3) I absolutely cannot afford to buy blocking mats. But! I'm very pleased with how it's turning out.
I'm also a full two repeats into my test knit of @yllene's Seashell Legwarmers and I'm sooo in love with how it's turning out. I'm really happy with the colors I chose, the teal just pops against the brown, and the pattern is just gorgeous. I am excited to play around with the pattern once I finish this pair, as working with DK yarn and small needles is hard on my hands and I can't work on them for very long at a time, so I'd love to try with a lighter yarn or bigger needles.

Yarn Snail!
Colors on the body didn't quite turn out how I wanted, but overall very pleased. One antenna broke off before its last kiln journey, but will be glued back on.

Test knit Acacia Leaf Cardigan by @/sedna.knitting on IG
Is so pretty how the small leaves between the bigger ones are falling down. Also I’m loving all of the colour combinations by the other testers 🍂

[image id: a photo of a short piece of knitting on double pointed needles. It is mainly knitted in a light brown wool with a cabled pattern in white. The pattern depicts is based on Tolkien’s stylised illustrations of trees with interlocking branches. Larger branches are cabled in a twisting pattern. A pale-skinned hand is pinning the knitting back in the left hand corner of the image to stop it curling over. End id]
remembered i have free will and can post pictures of my craft wips if i so desire it soooo . first time doing colourwork! i dropped my cabling needle* (half of a smaller dpn that snapped in half since i started this project) down the side of the carseat so i am alternating between using my fingers and using my fourth needle to hold stitches lol
pattern: forests of arda cowl by rountreestitchery
yarn: heirloom merino magic 10 ply in myrtlewood and almond

CALL FOR TEST KNITTERS (ENG and SWE)
I'm looking for test knitters to knit my pattern Kerstin Socks. The pattern is to be tested both in English and in Swedish.
The colorwork on these socks is created using slip stitches combined with knit stitches and purl stitches. With this technique you only need to knit with one yarn colour at a time. The colorwork section of the sock uses small amounts of each colour, meaning it is a good project for using up leftover yarn. The socks are knitted cuff-down.
The socks come in nine sizes according to foot circumference in cm: 17cm (18cm) 19,5cm (20,5cm) 22,5cm (23,5cm) 25cm (26cm) 27,5cm.
The pattern has been tech edited. The socks are knitted in the round, using double-pointed needles.
As a test knitter I wish that you give feedback and point out any errors or unclear instructions. Participation in this test knit is on a volunteer basis.
Pattern release will be in autumn 2025.
If you are interested in test knitting, scroll down to fill in the Google form below.

The Frog Hat
Bath time achieved! Incredible what a block does to knits. Especially colorwork. Still need a pompom of some kind. And possibly some straps to go on the earflaps. But idk what color to pick yet.
Pattern: Öronlappsmössa top-down by Anna Bauer
Charts drawn by me.
Now I just have to wait to wear it. Currently around 26-30c around here and I'm dying of heat. Not really time for a warm hat.

Time for a knitting update! Summer vacation is upon us and all I want to do, now that my classroom is packed up for summer cleaning, is knit and play video games (and preferably play games that don't require my hands on the keyboard all the time so that I can knit while I play them; that is the summer ideal!) Thus, the last few weeks have been very productive.
I saw @yllene's Seashell Legwarmers on here a while ago and thought they looked way too cool to pass up on when test knitting opened, despite that I'd never done brioche before. Happily, I caught on quick enough and now I am obsessed with brioche knitting - so here are my Seashells and the other brioche patterns I've knit since then!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alchemist's Moon Hat (from the Knitrino app, which very helpfully walks you through every row with videos explaining every stitch type, so it's actually a good one to start with for learning brioche - although the reversible hem at the end of it is not beginner stuff, that was trickier than any of the brioche I've done!) It's cleverly designed so that if you weave in the ends sneakily enough (which in brioche is totally doable) and sew that hem correctly, the hat ends up 100% reversible - the yellow and purple versions below are two sides of the same hat!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Liguria Hat, which is a much simpler increase/decrease pattern than it looks like, so very easy to memorize and I'll probably make it again!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And finally, I'm almost finished with a pair of Froth Fingerless Mitts from the Spring 2023 issue of Interweave Knits:
Tumblr media
The pattern as written has...issues, and no errata I could find, but at this point I've done enough brioche (or just enough knitting in general, I guess) that I could look at the picture and say "Wait, these instructions aren't going to match what that actually looks like. This is two pattern repeats shorter than what I'm counting on the sample in the photo! *grabs pencil and edits* Nope, we're doing it this way!" It pretty much worked out to match the pictures. I think I could've used one more pattern repeat; I like my fingerless mitts to warm my fingers too, at least a little. I will be glad to be done with all the tubular bind-off on this one though. 😅

My friend wanted to have some really warm fingerless mitts form when he rides the motorcycle. So I made him these. They are made of a wool and alpaca blend which makes them super warm. This simple slip stitch pattern makes the fabric dense, which I hope will protect against the wind. Should I write up the pattern for these?
