Got invited to a new Lost Mines of Phandelver group, and wanted to draw my newest glass cannon. So here's Tobin Merryweather, gnome painter-turned-wizard!

Basically he's an artist from Waterdeep who woke up one day unable to paint, and he himself is positive he's been afflicted by a terrible curse. After his life had been turned on its head he spent his last gold on a discount magical distance course that hopefully will help him learn how to lift curses. It even came with a free rod!

Currently re-reading Animorphs and had to draw my favourite animu space deers.

Some headcanons about Andalite anatomy under the cut!

- First off, I’ve always drawn Andalites like space centaurs, the way they are depicted on the cover art (abs and all). But recently I started subscribing to the @fandalites Truth about the Andalites: they aren’t described to have a human torso. They evolved from grazers. It makes no sense that they should have arms, shoulders, pecs and abs shaped just like a human’s.

- I was also inspired by @lackofa​ s concept art of primitive Andalites.

- Rather than human arms, that evolved to be able to grip branches in a way that made it natural for us to throw spears, I imagine Andalite arms and hands were an extra set of appendages that evolved so Andalites could pick stuff up from the ground.

- A headcanon on my part is that they don’t have opposable thumbs, so throwing and catching stuff is harder for them than for humans. They aren’t as reliant on tools, through, since they have a very useful tail. 

- I imagine Andalites generally being slightly smaller than humans (because I like the idea of Visser 3 shouting at some big, lumbering human controllers.)

- I tried to strike that balance of Andalites being both graceful and creepy, and make them look alien while still having some decidedly humanoid elements, mostly around the face.
