I could talk abt how the combination of his absence from the prophecy and being one of the few lightners to know abt the dark world gives him an INCREDIBLE character-arc propelling dilemna of whether to help his friends or to just stay on the sidelines like fate intended,

OR I could mention how his total freedom from the prophecy and his desire to be involved in adventure is a FASCINATING contrast to Kris's entanglement in the narrative and simple wish for security.

I could yap all day abt how he's the ONLY thing that changes the plot so far.

I could EVEN talk about the symbolism of him being a bird, free from the restraints of the prophecy, and Kris literally being "The cage", a prisoner to it.

(Plus the fact that out of EVERYTHING they could have in their room to keep the SOUL in, they have a birdcage. A FUCKING BIRDCAGE.)

But I'm not going to talk about any of that. OR the million and a half other reasons that Berdly is FUCKING relevant that I have and that Kerdly is the Kris ship that makes the most sense with the canon.

I want Dess to actually be the knight for a couple of reasons, but i think the most prevalent reason is because of the weird route. Imagine that for whatever reason, you are now this being completely different from yourself and having to go along with this plan that was most likely made by your mother and enact it with the weird kid who you’ve known since they were small, and who’s ALSO the sibling of the guy you were incredibly close to who probably thinks you’re dead.

That’s already not a great situation if Dess seemingly also knows the prophecy or just the fact that Kris is being controlled by some higher being. Now imagine Kris is being controlled to hurt and manipulate your sister and there’s very little they can do about it. These two kids who you’ve known basically their entire lives- and one of them is being used to hurt the girl you’ve protected and cared for since she was born.

What can Dess even do then? Imagine she sees her sister bleeding from the ring on her finger and in some sort of trance and absolutely miserable being used by this weird otherworldly being using her childhood friends body. There’s no way she doesn’t try to intervene somehow. This is so interesting to me MAN

the cuptains from deltarune are the only things that ever matter btw. ^look at this thing. that’s just a little guy and it’s the cutest sweetest little guy you’ve ever seen. all these little things wanna do is protect their princess and they can’t but they’re adorable anyway. would totally get one tattooed on my body.

I’ve noticed these are always the same people who genuinely believe kris is evil and/or think they ‘enjoyed’ what happens in the weird route. Or they think kris is some sort of blank slate ‘self insert’ character. Can you please just actually play the game with your eyes open.
