[ID in alt + readmore]
IMAGE 1: psych fanart of shawn spencer holding a furby in his childhood bedroom, exclaiming, “dude! did you know i had a furby?!” on a red rotary phone.
IMAGE 2: shawn and gus sharing a pineapple drink. shawn is excited abt sharing it with gus while gus looks apprehensive/flustered about it.
IMAGE 3: gus showering, peeking an eye open as a question mark pops above his head. a shadow forms behind the curtain.
IMAGE 4: shawn pulling back the curtain and nonchalantly asking gus a question: “hey are we—stop screaming, it’s just me—are we out of cheetos?” gus shrieks and covers himself up.
IMAGE 5: shawn holding lassiter and gus’s heads in psychic concentration. annoyed, lassiter asks, “does he have to do this every time?” gus responds indifferently, “you get used to it.”
IMAGE 6: shawngus redrawn as twink boutta pounce meme. gus is infodumping about special interest #148, explaining what T-rexes used to sound like, while shawn looks at gus fondly, very much not listening.
IMSGE 7: shawn putting his fingers up to his temples, directing all of his energy at a floating slice of pizza. gus pretends to look shocked, holding the pizza up by a string behind his back. lassiter is taken aback, wondering, “how is he doing that?!”
IMAGE 8: headshot busts of lassiter looking annoyed, shawn and gus looking at each other with a knowing apprehension, and juliet looking serious.
IMAGE 9: lassiter grabbing shawn by the collar and shoving a finger in his face, angrily saying, “now you listen here, spencer—“ shawn is distractedly looking down at his mouth and smiling like the cat who got the cream. a tiktok screenshot in the background reads: me instigating a fight becuase the guy was hot and i want him on me.
IMAGE 10: juliet, gus, and shawn redrawn as the powerpuff girls applebees comic meme. gus rambles about state capitals while shawn says exasperatedly, “stop talking about states.” juliet turns to gus and asks “do you wanna go to applebees?” gus responds, “sure, hang on,” then turns to point at shawn and says, “fuck you.” shawn crosses his arms petulantly.
IMAGE 11: various shawn doodles. the 1st looks unimpressed and says, “i could solve all of the unsolved mysteries myself. it’s not that hard.” the 2nd is a redraw of a screencap subtitled: [shawn meows]. the 3rd shawn has his hands up in unearned surrender, saying, “i’m staying out of this” while an arrow pointing at him reads: guy that started it. the 4th is a redraw of shawn covering his mouth in a laugh.
IMAGE 12: 2 shawn doodles. the 1st shawn walking in with a speech bubble of a textpost that reads: hi sorry for ghosting you im being tormented by psychic horrors beyond your wildest comprehensions. the 2nd shawn gestures to himself humble-braggingly with a speech bubble of a textpost that reads: talking about your feelings is SO important i won’t do it but you guys definitely should. an arrow points to him reading: local man w/ undiagnosed adhd + autism allegedly “proud of not having to go to therapy.”
IMAGE 13: 2 gus doodles. the 1st gus is leaning over as if to gossip and says, “heard about pluto? that’s pretty messed up.” an edited textpost above him reads: absolutely love it when gus goes “lately i’m obsessed with” and then says the most mundane thing ever. the 2nd gus points to a laptop agitatedly with a speech bubble of a textpost that reads: did it hurt? when i told you google it and i was right.
IMAGE 14: gus is obliviously typing on his laptop as shawn is staring at him in concentration with his fingers to his temples. brain wave doodles are sent in gus’s direction. shawn’s thought bubble is a textpost that reads: it’s so rude when someone doesn’t feel you yearning deeply for them… bestie how much more brain waves do i have to fire at you.
IMAGE 15: shawn is leaning on gus’s shoulder with an airy delight and says with a speech bubble of a textpost: love the way we finish each others sentences. it’s like we’re soulmates or the beastie boys. gus smiles at him fondly.
IMAGE 16: shawn and gus as furbys named shawnby & furgus. shawn is pineapple-themed with a pony bead necklace that says SIKE! gus is blue and purple with busines pinstripes and a purple-pink tie.

So like. What was going through Cobra Bubbles' head the first time he encountered Stitch?
He's trying to conduct a home visit. It's not going well. The last visit didn't go well. It's becoming more and more clear that he's probably going to have to separate this little girl from her only living relative, which he doesn't want to do. Nani's not helping her own case, and he's coming down pretty hard on her. And then suddenly this bizarre little blue creature pops up and flings a heavy book directly at his face. The sisters insist it's a dog, but it doesn't look, sound, or behave like any dog.
The thing is, Agent Bubbles knows about aliens. He knows for a fact that intelligent extraterrestrial life exists and that it knows about Earth. And yet he doesn't challenge the idea that Stitch is a dog or try to either immediately remove Lilo or demand that Stitch be sent away. He does specifically tell Lilo that the next time he sees Stitch he expects Stitch to be "a model citizen." Not under control or well trained, a model citizen.
Is he hoping that Stitch is a solution here? That this alien creature that, arguably, attacked him in defense of the Pelekai sisters, might represent a useful element of their support system if better socialized?

Loving the Murderbot show.
Honestly even though I reread the series recently my goddamn memory is so bad that I didn't notice some of the changes (combining Overse into Pin Lee)
My random thoughts so far:
I feel like the show is being slightly weird about Mb's pronouns...? Someone called it "him" (in an attempt to humanize I think??) and Gurathin corrected them, but he did so in an objectifying way so idk.
Sanctuary Moon looks amazing
the cubicle looks... gigantic???
the hopper seems gigantic (probably a filming limitation)
I need the digital graphics to be bigger please they're really difficult to read
The attempt to make Mb's null groin with blurring? looks weird – I feel like practical effects (modesty cup with like latex and makeup over?) would have looked better (might have also been a filming limitation idk anything about the actor)
Mb's hair seems slightly too long??
Ratthi please holy fuck 😭
are we... pairing the spares with Ratthi?
wait, am I the only one who finds it weird that Leebeebee didn't give pronouns?
Gurathin didn't say that Mb calls itself Murderbot??
I don't think Gurathin's stuff with Mensah is romantic, but that might be because I'm aro lol

I don't like that the definitive version of Yooka-Laylee is called "Yooka-Replayee"
Listen, all the news I saw about it was Playtonic's video titles and thumbnails on my YouTube Subscription page. So I thought it was just that the devs were doing a Lets Play replaying the game. Genuinely didn't realize it was anything else until one of the thumbnail/titles said something about new outfits for Yooka.
I still haven't looked into the remake of the game, so no opinion there.
Couldn't they have called it something like Yooka Laylee: Final Draft? idk something with the books. Or just Yooka Laylee: Definitive Edition would have worked!

a lot of stories treat romance like it makes the relationship between two characters self explanatory and to be honest it doesn’t

I mean, if we really wanted comic book movies to be faithful to the source material, rather than spending $100 million on one movie, what you’d do is give $20 million each to five different directors, release all five resulting movies in theatres at the same time, and make sure that each movie’s plot refers to the events of all the other movies’ plots in such a way that whichever of the five movies you watch first will be entirely incomprehensible and every possible viewing order is wrong.

I’m rereading Going Postal and I always forget how stupidly sweet Moist is in some ways
local man cons himself into thinking he’s conning himself into pretending to be a good person. as a con, you understand. an innocent soul with a fine criminal mind indeed.

quick little rant: I do Not like the controls of Mario Odyssey.
They're just too dissimilar to Mario 64, which is burned into my hands apparently.
Really it's the fault of Donkey Kong 94, Mario 64, and Sunshine. The controls are very similar, even though DK94 is 2D and in Sunshine you have FLUDD. They're snappy, and hovering with FLUDD is intuitive.
I didn't play Galaxy because the whole small planets thing wasn't really fun for me.
In Odyssey, the controls look the same on the surface, but they don't feel the same?
I don't know if these gifs illustrate it:

Maybe I need more practice???

“Pratchett went back to older throwaway jokes (like dwarves being apparently unisex) and used them as metaphors to discuss social change, racial assimilation, and other complex issues, while reexamining the species he’d thrown in at the margins of his world simply because they existed at the margins of every other fantasy universe. If goblins and orcs and trolls could think, then why were they always just there to be slaughtered by the heroes? And if the heroes slaughtered sentient beings en masse, how heroic exactly were they? It was a long overdue start on redressing issues long swept under the rug by a parade of Tolkien successors who never thought of anyone green and slimy as anything but a notch on the protagonist’s sword, and much of the urgency in Pratchett’s last few books seemed to be related to them. “There’s only one true evil in the world,” he said through his characters. “And that’s treating people like they were things.” And in the last of his “grown-up” Discworld books, that idea is shouted with the ferocity of those who have only a few words left and want to make them count. Goblins are people. Golems are people. Dwarves are people, and they do not become any less people because they decide to go by the gender they know themselves to be instead of the one society forces on them. Even trains might be people, and you’ll never know one way or the other unless you ask them, because treating someone like they’re a person and not a thing should be your default. And the only people who cling to tradition at the expense of real people are sad, angry dwellers in the darkness who don’t even understand how pathetic they are, clutching and grasping at the things they remember without ever understanding that the world was never that simple to begin with. The future is bright, it is shining, and it belongs to everyone.”
— John Seavey, The Evolution of the Disc (via pornosophical)

I'm re-reading the Discworld series for reasons, and honestly the most relatable part of reading these as an adult is how many of the protagonists start out being tired, used to their little routine and vaguely disgruntled by the interruption of the Plot. Sam Vimes wants to lie drunk in a gutter and absolutely doesn't want to be arresting dragons. Rincewind is yanked into every situation he's ever encountered, though he'd much rather be lying in a gutter too. (Minus the alcohol. Plus regretting everything he's ever done said witnessed or even heard about fourth-hand in his whole life.) Granny Weatherwax is deeply suspicious of foreign parts and that includes the next town over; Nanny has leaned into the armor of "nothing ever happens to jolly grannies who terrorize their daughters-in-law and make Saucy Jokes"
Only the young people don't seem to have picked up on this---and that's fortunate, because someone has to run around making things happen, if only so Vimes and Granny and Rincewind have a reason to get up (complaining bitterly the whole time) and put it all to rights. Without Carrot, Margrat, Eric, etc. these characters don't have that reason; they're likely to stay in the metaphorical gutter and keep wondering where it all went wrong or why anything has to change.
............well, that's not quite true. You get the sense that Vetinari knows how much certain people hate the Plot. And as the person sitting behind the metaphorical lighting board of Ankh-Morpork, he takes no small pleasure in forcing the Plot-haters specifically to stand up, and say some lines.
