It can be caused by a number of things but it’s often symptom of a lot of trauma based conditions

For a lot of us it’s really harmful and it can cause us to do things that are actively traumatizing.

It is no way the “opposite” of asexuality

Many ace people are hypersexual too

Please, I am begging you to think about the way you frame this medical condition. You may be actively preventing people from realizing they need help.

(People who have a high libido or just have a lot of sex aren’t nessecarily hypersexual, please don’t assume they are. )

Hey um, what does hypersexual mean? I see a lot of your posts on the ghost and pals tag :)

it is medically defined as: "an excessive preoccupation with sexual thoughts, urges, desires, fantasies, or behaviors that may cause distress or that negatively affects health, job, or relationships." several things can cause hypersexuality, such as various mental illnesses and abuse (especially sexual abuse).

like any other condition/disorder, it is not chosen to have. i do believe there are treatments, but i think it depends on the cause of it.
