@dunerover : Zandi carefully and quietly eased himself down from the trees to dangle from a branch by his legs just above Bernard's head, much like an expert burglar slipping into some forbidden vault via its ceiling. Slowly, as if to keep from spooking a dove, he reached down for his hair. And very, very aggressively, he snatched to mash his fingers into its locks and ruffle it into a deranged red mess.

        Ah yes,      the burden of being handsome, helpful  &  utterly heroic takes a toll on Bernard from time to time. Finding a comfortable little spot under an old oak, letting the afternoon hours pass by, the tiefling was half-asleep   —   arms crossed over his chest, chin already lazily resting on his chest.

   Until his slumber was interrupted.

The sudden, rough assault of his hair brought a gasp up his throat   —   which, honestly, did not make it past his lips. Bernard jolted, Shoulder shooting up in raw panic, trying to orient himself.

      ❝ HAVE YOU GONE ABSOLUTELY INSANE   ? ? ? ❞      The cleric addressed Zandi as soon as these crimson eyes made out the source of interruption.      ❝ Is that the gratitude you wish to share for saving your sorry arse earlier today   ? ❞

Now Bernard just sounded like some male lion who got spooked by a cub   —   having lost any bravado but desperately trying to cling onto it, without succession.

      you know.      you always know when they're looking and especially when they're not. you feel their eyes on you and at first you just feel it. you pretend not to notice and you smile to yourself.   it's warm.   and maybe it's foolish and cliche but there are butterflies in your stomach and that's the feeling you want to hold onto. so you do. you can't the appropriate amount of seconds which feel like minutes. then you lift your own eyes and meet theirs and those butterflies turn into fireworks. they see you and you see them. and there is nothing more comforting and exhilarating as that.

    It was very, very hard to take her suggestion seriously.     Not when her voice calls him in like a siren's call. Not when her full lips form around the words as if she wanted to say 'please, don't do anything dangerous for me', ( at least it would sound nice in the tiefling's head ). Bernard was far from listening to this almost threat, fantasizing how she would cling onto him, thank him for saving her life should they find themselves in a fight.

  Yeah, that's the stuff.

So, one eyebrow quirked up, accompanied by a lopsided smirk  &  hooded eyes. Hells was that girl pretty.     ❝ I would die for you, no questions asked. If it means I get to hear your complaints one last time. ❞
