Nathan or Zachary; he/him (but they/them are not a problem); aroace; fanboy. I'm Italian and I cry myself to sleep on both Latin and Ancient Greek because of school. Here you'll find fandom-related stuff (mainly pjo), and greek mythology things because I study that and I swear that it's funny (at least, it is when I'm not crying).

We're different. I really appreciate Solangelo and other Nico ships make me go "ew" a lot because... I don't know. They just do. I still follow you because, damn, I love your Nico centric content.
Solangelo isn't my favourite ship in the world (Dorian and Zachary from The Starless Sea stole my heart, but you don't know them. They don't matter, not here), however it is my favourite riordanverse ship.
I was so excited for tsats! Finally an explicitely queer book by an author I like with my favourite character in it! I didn't want spoilers. I received one and that was more than enough (I knew they met Nyx at some point).
And when I finally read it, I didn't make it to Tartarus. I don't like to use this word so much, but I cringed so hard during all of it.
It's fanfiction. And it's fine, if seen as that. I refuse to acknowledge it as canon. I'm not sorry. Will and Nico are just fine on they're own, at Camps or maybe not. It doesn't matter. What matters is that Nico is finally healing, because, gods, he deserves it. And also no more Tartarus. It's banned. Please.
What I'm saying is, you're so fucking right. Rick Riordan, if you ever make more books in this series (please don't), please, less Solangelo protagonist and more background Solangelo.
somehow i like Solangelo better when they're this little cute side-couple just simply enjoying themselves as the protagonists go through ten forms of torment at once. It's weird. Huh.

Hi, I'm Italian and I'm Weird about names, sorry in advance!
Fun fact! Viviana is shortened to Vivi, not Viv
Please I literally beg you do not call GB!Bianca Benedetto. It sounds like shit. Use Bruno instead, it's more historically accurate and also it sounds better
Yes, Francesca is written like that. No, it wouldn't be Frank's name.
My Genderbent Percy Jackson Names ideas!
Hold on tight cause this could get long
Percy Jackson —> Penelope Jackson
Ive seen a lot of takes where persephone is used and while i could see sally or Poseidon naming him that as a way to appease hades and try and avoid his wrath, i like Sally choosing the name of someone who got a happy ending. Penelope in greek mythology faces a lot of hardships but in the end she did get her happy ending. I also feel like Penelope being married to one of Athena’s favourite champions goes well with Penny Jackson falling for one of Athena‘s favourite sons. Also this Penelope choosing to follow her boyfriend on his perilous journey (ie. Falling into Tartartus with him) than being separated from him like the original Penelope was.
Jason Grace —> Helen Grace
Doesn’t start with the same letter but i wanted a name relating to greek mythology that i could think of reasons for. Ican see multiple ways Helen would end up with her name
1. Beryl Grace names her that out of pride. She seduces the king of gods and now she has a daughter just as beautiful as the original Helen.
2. Helen Grace does actually look a lot like Helen of Troy and was named by zeus/Jupiter for the resemblance
3. Hera, the goddess of marriage and women, maybe not being as hateful of Helen of Troy because she’s one of Zeus’ demigod daughters and not a demigod son. Also the original Helen having tumultuous marriages (depending on which version you go by) just like Hera who’s husband is about as unfaithful as you get. I could see Helen becoming one of her fave demigods and wanting to honour her by naming this new child after her. Or again Zeus naming her for that reason.
4. Helen of Troy was used in an insult against Hera so Hera being like ‘fuck you this is the new Helen, she’s gonna turn out much better than the original and she’s all mine’.
Also Helen Grace ending up in a kind of forced relationship with a son of Aphrodite.
Nico Di Angelo —> Viviana Di angelo or Mirabella Di Angelo or Rosa Di angelo
This one I’m not as decisive on, but i tried to find some italian/latin names that could be shortened to a nick name
Viviana means lively. Can be shortened to Viv. I could see this as a sort of contrast to her being the daughter of god of the dead but also Nico going through a lot of shit but surviving.
Mirabella means wonderous beauty and admiral which i think Nico is. Could be shortened to Mira or Bella.
Rosa is just a name that was popular in 1930s italy.
Also Benedetto for Bianca
Annabeth Chase —> Anthony Chase
The chase family tends to go with long posh sounding names so i thought this went well. Means praise worthy. I could also see Alexander after Alexander the Great but i don’t like giving deep meanings to every single name.
Piper McClean —> Presley McClean
Chose this because it was one of the only male P names that i liked to be honest, but Piper’s dad is famous and famous people tend to give their kids stand outish, meaningful names so maybe Presley was named after Elvis or something like that.
Frank Zhang —> Freya Zhang
Also just liked this one. Could be Francesca (no clue if i spelled that name right lol).
Leo Valdez —> Leah Valdez
Closest name to Leo i could think of.
Hazel Levesque —> Henry Levesque
Just a popular 1920s boy name starting with H.
Thalia Grace —> Hector Grace
I chose Hector because Hector of Troy was the greatest warrior for Troy and i think Zeus would want his son named after a great warrior. Before you say ‘but Hector was defeated by Achilles so shouldn’t he be named after Achilles’ I think even Zeus might think twice about naming the possible child of the prophecy after someone that had to be shot down because he was getting out of control. I don’t know if it rolls of the tongue as easily as Thalia Grace but i also thought it went nicely with Helen.

'Ace' here includes grey-ace, demi, all the ace spectrum.
In this scenario, no one's approaching you to actually do anything - you just know that the person has these feelings.
The 'I'm uncomfortable' option doesn't imply judgement of the person or their feelings - it's just about how you would feel.
ADDITIONAL CONTEXT: 'Depends on the person' is not about their behaviour. Of course you would feel uncomfortable if they're acting creepy towards you - anyone would. It's about things like how well you know them, or what gender they are, or other stuff that's inherent.

They don't know this place. The streets look old and like the countryside is taking over the town. Their door was painted on some wall, hidden and protected from the rain (it's raining now.)
They're running. Or laughing. Or maybe both. Their sweaters are now wet, and it may not be the best thing, but it's fun. They run barefoot, the night surrounding them and embracing the sound of their laughs.
It's raining, they're barefoot and they don't know where they are.
And they don't care.
Zachary and Dorian hold hands under the rain, and their love fills the night.

I have spoken of how Nico is werewolf energy and Will Solace is vampire energy before but once again I must posit: Solangelo but Will is a vampire (nobody suspects him at all) and Nico isn’t (everyone is absolutely certain he is).
Will having an immunity to sunlight ‘cause he’s an Apollo kid. He steals blood bags out of the infirmary and will just sip from them like a juice pouch during counselor meetings and nobody questions it. Nobody suspects him at all somehow. Meanwhile Nico keeps trying to explain to everybody that he’s not a vampire but Will finds it hilariously delightful to egg on the rumors and Nico is slowly losing his mind about it. Everyone is fully willing to believe Nico’s a vampire purely based on aesthetics alone.

Hi! I'm Italian, so I think I know a bit more about our history.
First, I have no idea how Nico studied about Dante in elementary school, because when don't study him until we're twelve, but I don't know much about our old school programs. I'll have to research that.
And, more importantly, Nico was probably raised with a Christian mindset. I'm not saying he was Christian, but he definitely was raised as one.
I think they stopped going to church after they moved to America tho. I also like to think that Maria told Nico and Bianca about their father, but neither of them remembers it. No reason for this, I just really like it.
Tbh, Christian or not Christian, it would make sense either way.
How would Nico speak Italian is a way more interesting thing to think about.
It's mentioned in Tower of Nero that Nico studied Dante in elementary school in Italy? Also maybe not the Di Angelo family personally, but iirc Catholicism was the sole official religion of Italy until about 1985. Even in the past decade roughly 80 percent of Italians currently identify as Catholic, so I'd imagine it still heavily influenced him as well as Maria's lifestyle. I am not an expert on 1930s Italy but I doubt Rick Riordan is either so
Okay so yeah he wasn't homeschooled then. That's wasn't the main point though - again, even if the school he attended was religious, that doesn't necessarily mean that Nico's family is, just that he was potentially raised in a Christian environment/primarily Christian country. Not that it particularly changes for him once he moves to America - still predominantly Christian, or at least heavily culturally Christian. And yeah that definitely does impact him, ergo why he has internalized homophobia. He just doesn't have Catholic guilt specifically and still doesn't have to have been directly raised Catholic or Christian himself. Venice in particular is historically pretty diverse, having been a major trade city in the Mediterranean, and has had a history of religious freedom. So him specifically being from Venice too lends itself to him potentially being not Christian.
I will note though that Rick does have a tendency to accidentally default his characters to Christian, even if they are explicitly in-text not Christian. I have a whole rant about this but he just generally tends to slip into having characters very clearly have Christian-based viewpoints/interpretations of things, and particularly the way the divine/immortal characters are characterized as the series goes on is very Christian (speaking as a practicing pagan who was raised catholic/pagan). It's not too bad in the first series, but it definitely becomes very clearly apparent in all the later series as the books go on. I think worst example of this is in Un Natale Mezzosangue where, for some reason, the Etruscan god Charu is randomly Christian, which doesn't make sense on any level. Actually just all of Un Natale Mezzosangue is a good example of that problem. We actually also see this in Haley Riordan's short story Son of Magic, where there are several scenes of Hecate in a Christian church, praying. We are left with the explicit question of who she is praying to, but again, she is in a Christian church, so. We do see this in mortal characters who are explicitly non-Christian as well, though.

I don't know how much of an unpopular opinion this is, but I like Magnus more than Percy. I'll even say I like Fierrochase more than Percabeth. Don't get me wrong, Percabeth is one of the healthiest relationships I've seen portrayed in fiction, but Fierrochase is just something else
