 It was weird. Jesus was the recruiter for Hilltop, the one who decided trade, the one who approached people for opportunity. So he saw Rick and Daryl and thought, nah, not them. He had written them off before he had even given them the chance, and he’d deprived both sides from the goods on the truck. Didn’t matter that Rick had parked it stupidly, didn’t matter that Daryl hadn’t been paying attention, it came back to his fool ass. The judgement, flung by Mr. Christ, that set Daryl on edge. He’d seen the shitty redneck with a temper, so that was what he was gonna get.

    ❛  That was US a couple of months ago. That’s how we lost so many people. We didn’t WANT to see the world like how Rick & the group saw it— how they still see it. That’s how I ……. ❜ But she doesn’t want to mention sam, not now, how she lost her youngest boy to the walkers. How Carl had pulled her away from her son’s grasp & how ron out of grief maimed the grimes boy. Things were still tense between everyone. They tried to make it work. He was a stranger. He didn’t need to know those things about her. She supposed someone might mention it offhandedly to him, if he was even going to stay that long with them unless they all relocated to Hilltop. 

   Golden brows raise & hazel eyes watch the stranger skeptically. Rick had PROMISED to keep her boys safe, to protect them and that didn’t happen. The lone mother wasn’t sure anyone’s word meant anything anymore. With walkers & the saviors at the gates, things were different. Not always concrete. ❛ Your word is your bond? Well, I hope your words are STRONG & you don’t break promises easily. Cause that’s also how we lost people. I’m sorry if I don’t seem welcoming as I probably would have been months ago but, things happened. Things that I want to PROTECT now more than ever. Just make sure everyone comes home safe. I hope you get your person back. I hope we can help you.  . ❜

         Soft hands with burgeoning callouses from worn leather knife handles fiddle with  her safety blanket— Jessie’s favorite pair of shears ( her magic case one of her possessions she saved  along with a few photos of her boys ) as she peered up at the man standing in her kitchen. JESUS  ( formerly paul ) a HILLTOP resident, a sort of wanderer, a recruiter of sorts. Rick’s group was wary of them as the alexandrians had been of rick’s group. ᴀ ᴠɪᴏʟᴇɴᴛ ᴄʏᴄʟᴇ ( who would be the first to blink? the first to ask TOO MUCH? the first to lose to ignorance or quick draws of guns). 

      ❛ are you REALLY here to help us? What if rick’s group CAN’T kill negan? I don’t see your community willing to send in scouts AFTER rick if they get captured or have a hostage situation.  ❜
