Henry has a twin called George. George up and left London two years ago to New York where he met and befriended our favourite chaotic bisexual disaster, Alex Claremont-Diaz. Now, Philip is engaged and George's attendance is required at the festivities. The only upside is he's allowed a plus-one. Enter Alex, fake-dating, and a pretty blonde twin that takes Alex by surprise.

Of course,” Henry says quickly, “I didn’t mean to keep you. Erm, I’ll see you tomorrow? That is, I assume you’re still planning on coming to the engagement?”

“That’s what I came here to do,” Alex shrugs. “We’re not going to cause a scene or anything. It’s on Mary if she wants to make one.”

He maybe shouldn’t have said that; maybe should’ve dialled down the defiance in the tone of his voice and kept tight-lipped about the plan. But Henry doesn’t look like he’s ready to storm out again. He’s tapping his fingertips on the hardback cover and gazing at Alex thoughtfully.

“What?” he asks self-consciously.

“Nothing,” Henry ducks his head shyly, a pink blush blooming across his cheeks.

“Tell me,” Alex encourages, stepping closer.

“You’re just. A really good friend to George. He brushes it off, but I know he hates coming back here. I know it makes him anxious. I’m just glad he has someone like you,” Henry’s eyes are deep and blue and earnest. Alex bites the inside of his cheek to stop himself from blurting out how pretty Henry looks, soft and rumpled with small purple circles beneath his eyes.

“Thanks sweetheart,” he says, if only to see the way it makes Henry flush deeper. “You know, if you ever do come to New York …”

“Yes?”

“Well, I could be a good friend to you too.”

Yeah, they’re supposed to be objective when writing this shit up, but that isn’t his opinion. It’s a fact. A not-asshole wouldn’t have taken one look at Alex and promptly ignored him when Alex had approached him at their designated meeting spot. A not-asshole wouldn’t have sighed when Alex offered to buy him a drink and haughtily informed him that he was meeting someone before turning away again. Alex had just bitten back saying, yeah, me, asshole. It was worth not giving himself away just yet to learn something about the person he was supposed to be working with for the next few days.

CIA agent Alex Claremont-Diaz and MI6 agent Henry Fox-Mountchristen don’t exactly get along, but that doesn’t keep their respective agencies from insisting they work together as partners. Then a mission in Colombia changes everything, and their relationship begins to shift and grow into something that neither of them ever expected… and something that could have deadly consequences.
