yui fr pmo so bad sometimes like why are you sticking your nose where it doesn’t belong?? it’s like she wants to make the guys center around her opinion and the way she always seems to empathize more with the abuser than with the victim makes it hard for me to defend her 😤👎
// Her empathizing with the abusers instead of the victims is bad, but I think her trying to convince the victims to forgive or face their abusers is even worse. There’s no problem if the victim decides to do that on THEIR own, but being pushed into it really sucks.
I just think Yui is unable to grasp the seriousness of the situation or understand how much her words can affect others. In Ruki’s route, she’s literally like: “I know I’m in no position to say this, but even if Karlheinz is responsible for a whole genocide and all your trauma, he still saved you, so~.” Girl… if you know it has nothing to do with you, why are you even inserting yourself into such a serious conversation?
It reminds me of that moment in Ayato’s DF route. He was clearly struggling with the thought that Cordelia was brought back to life, and what did Yui do? She dismissed his pain and brought Cordelia in the castle, merely because she ‘related to her’, which is giving “how can I make this about me?”

While read again the game and manga, I noticed something about Yui and I'm honestly curious. In some scenes, I saw Yui being called away from school to plan her future and in general, she doesn't know what she wants for her future or has any hope. What kind of job do you think Yui would have if she went to college?
// Honestly, I think the best fit for Yui would be to become a housewife, rather than have an actual job. I know that can sound outdated in some Western countries, but in Japan, it’s still seen as something respectable and even admirable. Many women actually prefer that lifestyle, especially if their husbands are comfortable being the main provider.
Yui knows how to cook, clean, and she’s naturally caring and supportive as a wife. On the other hand, she struggles with tasks that require logical thinking or handling situations in an objective, level-headed way. So rather than pushing herself into roles that don’t suit her, it makes more sense for her to focus on what she feels most at ease.

What is a IT boy and why do some people call Ayato like that? Is it a joke or?
// At first I considered it a joke but now that I think about it… Ayato being the IT boy of otome games makes so much sense?? xD
Ayato's design is regarded as perfect in the Japanese otoge and DL communities because he most closely resembles the beauty standards. He is known as "Dialovers' best visual," and his face is so loved that many people only bought DL because of it. Certain otome game lovers who aren't even into DL will buy his merchandise just for his appearance.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can't get away from him, and these photos speak for themselves. (1)
He's somewhat of a trend setter, lol. Of course, these love interests aren't carbon copies, but it’s obvious that they were inspired by Ayato. (2)

IMPACT (most important part)
In 2020, according to jnetz, Ayato was the fans’ top choice and Rejet Fest was taking place, therefore he was invited to “Nino-san”, a TV show hosted by Kazunari Ninomiya, a famous idol of the ARASHI boy band. His appearance there stunned everyone and quickly went very viral.
It was also interesting to see how everyone knew who Ayato was outside of the DL fandom from the individuals who commented to Kazunari Ninomiya because I doubt a 39-year-old idol with such a busy schedule would have time to play vampire otome games, lol.
When the interviewee saw him, she was taken aback and admitted being a fan. Even Rejet was surprised to find Ayato there, haha.
But, yes, this day was truly legendary because it was the first time an otome game character co-starred in a TV show, with a national idol on top.
Here you have a few reactions, including Rejet’s post:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I honestly feel like Ayato got the biggest Japanese “solo” fanbase because I swear, everyone who isn’t directly involved in the DL fandom, seems to somehow be an Ayato stan; I guess these are IT boy things. :P
Also, I dedicate this post to @summercreolefanfictioner because she’s an Ayato IT boy supremacist. 🥰🥰

SORRY WHAT-
RUKI FORGAVE KARL AFTER FINDING OUT WHAT HE DID???
// Okay, this might be a hot take, but I honestly don’t think Ruki is totally at fault for what happened in that scene. Yes, I completely understand why people are critical of him, since he can be downright cruel, even in the more recent games. However, when it comes to this specific situation, I feel like there’s a tendency to overlook some really important details, especially when it comes to understanding his mental and emotional state at the time.
After all, he just found out that the person he looked up to the most is actually the reason behind all the trauma he’s been through. It’s not easy to process something that huge, and I don’t think anyone in his position would’ve reacted perfectly. He was in shock, confused, hurt… of course he was vulnerable to manipulation.
And that’s where those two dumb blondies come in. Yui and Kou started finding excuses and feeding him a sugarcoated version of the situation, so it’s obvious he ended up believing it, given that he was too emotionally wrecked to question anything. It wasn’t a smart move on Ruki’s part either, but acting like he’s the only one to blame is unfair.

// This isn’t even from an ending, but I’m surprised by how Ruki’s gut feeling turns out to be accurate. First, he senses that her father is secretly a weirdo, and then he predicts she’ll make things difficult for Ayato.
That’s true, considering how even in the next games, Yui ends up being either directly or indirectly the reason why Ayato has to go through pain.

What's the actual relationship between Karlheinz and Ayato's like? Did Ayato always hated his dad? Did he forgive his dad?
(Hi admin~ Hope you're doing well 💌)
// Hey, I am! I hope you’re doing well too! 💕
As for your questions… Ayato might truly have the most complicated relationship with Karlheinz.
At first, Ayato disliked Karlheinz for personal reasons: being a neglectful father and husband. As a child longing for love and attention, Ayato’s pain ran deep, though it hadn’t yet turned to hate. But as he grew older and uncovered the full extent of Karl’s actions, his resentment became hatred. This is so important because Ayato, despite his arrogant exterior, is profoundly empathetic. He’s willing to forgive those who wrong him, as he's already done more than once, likely because he's learned to carry his own pain and move on. But when someone ruins other people without feeling any sort of remorse, that crosses a line he can’t overlook. (first pic)
Ayato is pretty much the only one who can call Karlheinz out in a way that actually hits him. In his MB good ending, when Ayato tells him “I pity you for being unable to realize the joy that comes from having someone love you to death,” Karlheinz is left speechless. That moment isn’t loud or dramatic, but it’s powerful, since for the first time, Karlheinz is really forced to face what he’s lost. And most likely, he envies Ayato for having something he’ll never get back. The wild part is that Karlheinz doesn’t try to brush it off or chuckle about it, he just... accepts it. He even tells Ayato not to make the same mistake. There’s a quiet kind of respect there, maybe even a touch of pride buried under all that regret. That moment feels different because Karlheinz finally looks at someone (Ayato) not just as another piece in his chess set. Out of all his sons, Ayato is the one Karlheinz sees as a glimpse of what he could’ve been, if he’d chosen love over his plans. (second and third pics)
In LE, after Ayato dies, it’s kind of surprising that he still wants to see Karlheinz, but at the same time, it makes a lot of sense. He’s still traumatized about what happened to him and needs someone to vent to. Ayato’s always been someone who needs interactions. Whether he's teasing someone, protecting them, or showing love in his own way, those relationships make him love life. But now that Ayato’s lonely, even the worst connection feels better than no connection at all. He’s always been afraid of being left truly alone, so with nothing left, he’s reaching for the only thing he remembers still being there: his father. (fourth pic)
In the CL bad ending, after Ayato fails to escape the miniature garden, we finally see something new on Karl’s face: regret. Usually, in bad endings, Karl either punishes those who fail or shows disappointment before rewinding time. But here, just by looking at his expression, you can tell there’s something different. It’s like a part of him actually feels sorry and perhaps he’s realizing it wasn’t entirely Ayato’s fault that things ended the way they did. (fifth pic)

We know that, to Karlheinz, Ayato is the ideal Adam candidate, as shown here, but what really gets to me is that Ayato is the only Sakamaki who can rewind time even after death, just like Karlheinz himself. And that ability is basically Karl’s signature trait. It honestly feels like Rejet was pushing the “He’s the most like his father” narrative, which is pretty unsettling, especially when you think about everything Karl put him through in YB and throughout the franchise in general. Yet, I suppose it can’t be helped, given that Rejet is known for making everything messed up, lol.

Women’s Day Collection 🌸
// I was genuinely excited for this package, since I love how Yui looks in the school uniform! It might be an unpopular opinion, but I think her default image is so good because that bright and cheerful smile is just irresistible! I know she smiles a lot in the cgs too, but smiley Yui is best Yui after all (that’s why I got a doll like that). 🙂‍↕️🩷

Is it just me or does yui has really thin hair in the small game icons?
// Ah yes, but sprites are not usually very detailed, so it’s understandable. I love her sprites though, I think she looks cuter than in the cgs! 😭💕💕

this lowk might be a dumb question but im SO confused on how the timelines work like if karlheinz reset time in dark fate then how did we meet the mukamis what happened w them did they js not take yui?? and why did karl need to full on delete the hdb universe couldnt he js restart time?
// Wait, you mean MB instead of DF, right?
Karlheinz essentially played with time and erased everything that happened in the first game because there was no genuine love between Yui and any of the Sakamakis. This was even confirmed in a special booklet featuring the Sakamakis, where it states, "the course of true love never did run smooth." Honestly, that was pretty obvious to me, lol. If you look at the "Heaven" part, which is supposed to represent the finale of each route, it’s clear that Yui is either long gone, killed, or starting to break. So yeah, it’s clear none of them truly loved her. They got attached and started caring for her, but it wasn’t true love, you know? And honestly, I doubt she loved them either.
Tumblr media
The Mukamis were introduced in More Blood after Karl realized that his sons would never learn how to truly love someone unless they were challenged to grow emotionally. They were made to act as romantic rivals, pushing the Sakamakis out of their comfort zones and forcing them to confront their own feelings.

// When I first saw Ayato here, I thought he looked like a 12-year-old, but it seems EA stans really love his youthful and thin appearance. 🤔
His waist is insanely tiny, though I assumed they preferred him more muscular, especially considering how viral his Purify Blood art went.

// This is one of the cutest otoge CGs I’ve ever seen! I’m not sure how to explain it exactly, yet when she’s with more than one character, she often happens to look confused or a bit out of place. But when Yui is with the triplets, it really feels like she’s part of their squad, you know? Maybe it’s because they look the closest to her age.

// I saw this debate regarding the structure of otome games, and as someone who played many, I can confirm that there is actually NO typical structure.
It’s incorrect to say that all otome games have a common route, where the LIs flirt with you/MC. In fact, in some games, you can choose your route immediately after the prologue.
Not all otome games feature locked or secret love interests/routes either.
Just because someone is the poster boy doesn’t automatically make him the main love interest. In fact, not every otome game even has a designated main guy, unless the developers explicitly state it. If his central role isn’t confirmed by the creators, he’s not the main guy by default.
Just because an otome game has a main guy doesn’t mean the other routes aren’t canon. Each route plays out in its own timeline, making all of them canon within their respective universes. The main guy, however, is usually crafted to reflect the game’s core themes, which often makes his route the most narratively ideal and logical.
It’s equally mistaken to say that the heroine is merely a self-insert, as it is to claim that players can’t self-insert because she is her own character. Otome games are intentionally designed to let you personalize your experience, meaning there’s no single “canon” way to play. Whether you choose to fully self-insert or to engage with the heroine as her own character, both ways are just as valid.
I wish I had more time to dive deeper, but to sum it up: otome games are unique. While some elements might overlap, it’s unfair to generalize the entire genre based on a few common traits.
