Michael sat on his basement floor, his hands cool to the touch from the cold concrete floor. He waited in silence for Rich to come over. This was his first time having him over, and he had previously only allowed Jeremy into his house. But something inside of him wanted to trust Rich.

The doorbell rang. Michael’s mothers weren’t home, so he went to open the door himself. There, Rich awkwardly stood, a school bag, a bottle of Dr. Pepper, and barbecue chips in his two hands. Michael saw his full arms and opened the door even further to let him in.

“You brought snacks?” Michael asked.

“What- do you not want them? I spent my hard earned paycheck on these for you.”

“That you cheated a bet for?” Michael laughed.

“AHHH! MY ARMS!” Rich screamed, directly into Michael’s ear. He promptly dropped everything he was holding on to the floor.

“Jesus.” Michael ran out the door to pick up the Dr. Pepper that had started to roll away. Rich did the same with the chips.

All of a sudden, they were bent over, close. When they raised themselves up, their foreheads almost slammed against each other, but they both backed away slightly.

Their faces almost touching, they sat there for a moment. They could each feel each other’s foreheads and cheeks growing warmer.

“AH! FUCK! OWCH…!” Rich screamed once again as he stepped back, but he giggled while doing so.

“What is wrong with you? I didnt even touch you!” Michael exclaimed.

“My barbecue chips! Thanks a lot.” Rich laughed.

Michael wanted to roll his eyes at Rich, but a part of him just made him smile sweetly into Rich’s eyes.
