Update [ooc]
So, this thing has evolved quite past CO and into a setting of it’s own in discord. Anyways, lots of developments, way too many to detail, but should be putting up some posts as to where things have gone.
The CO stuff remains untouched, since we did a flashforward waaaay into the future.

HKoC: A Visit
Today I did something I had not done in so long: I again had dreams of another time.
The interactions with Guzel, my chronomancer daughter, have seemed to reopen my connection with the future. This time, things are changed.
I am known by the title of Her Most Holy Tsaritsa. Something happened that turned me into a religious zealot. The people I lead out of Earth are not one, but divided among three races. It seems everyone has psionic abilities, that everyone is made of bio nanites, but that there are serious biological and philosophical differences.
The Chuvash are my favored race. They control most of the nobility and their religious conviction stands above that of the other races. Their psionic powers are strongest in abilities that cause destruction and harm. Chuvash stand behind me and my oldest daughter, Grand Duchess Elmira.
The Bashkirs are a tight knit group. Their culture has a strong emphasis on pacifism. They too worship the Lady, and their skill set favors skills that allow them to absorb or resist damage. Bashkirs have made Duchess Albina Akhtyamova and Duchess Anzhelika Nazarova their favored leaders.
A people I had not seen take a role before are now appearing in my dreams. The Tatars are the most numerous group in the Empire. There are more of them than Chuvash and Bashkirs combined. Still, until recently, they made up the lower caste. Most of the military fighting force and construction force was made of them. A wave of Tatar nationalism has spread across the Empire, and the people gave chosen my daughter, Grand Duchess Guzel as their champion. Their skill set focus on damage mitigation and healing abilities.
Massive societal changes are happening in the Empire, and seems future me is the only thing keeping it together.
I wonder, is this another flashback, or is this the new future in this timeline?

I. Professor Zakat!
A few days ago I met with an old friend: Professor Zakat! The sight was both shocking and heartbreaking. His state has deteriorated exponentially since the last time I saw him. My only guess is that he had been spending all his energy trying to unlock the secrets within the artifact we recovered during the last mission we did together.
Our introductions were short. I could tell his obsession had been single-minded and concentrating nearly entirely on the artifact. For my part, I did not want to burden him with my odyssey, as he seemed to have plenty on his mind.
So, he informed me that he had looked at the artifact, and knew it contained the roadmap we were looking for. However, he could not get into the specifics, and asked if I could provide some feedback from a tech point of view. Of course, it is my focus, but I lack the experience or expertise to undertake such a task. Thankfully, I have been speaking with my daughter, Guzel, and she came to mind. I brought it up to the Professor, and he agreed to allow her to take a look at the artifact.
The procedure was strange, as she did not have to be physically present to do so. She took over my body temporarily, as I welcomed her into my mind. Unsurprisingly for her, it took her a fraction of a second to find the information we had been looking for. She then offered to record the roadmap in my body. Apparently, the artifact contains a map to every single dimension. . .that is an infinite number of roads. Guzel’s processing power is so vast, she was able to find the one we were looking for nearly instantly, and planted the contents of the artifact in me, highlighting the one that lead to the Qliphothic Realm.
After I came to, I told the Professor I had seen the way, but that I could not actually draw or describe it. That left us with only one option, for him to fuse with consciousness temporarily so he could see the road himself. He is the only one I know who can open a portal to the realm, and I was the only person he knew who could lead the way there. So by fusing our consciousness, he would be able to get us into Qliphothic so we could complete our mission.
He was reluctant at first, saying that such a fusion would leave unforeseen and terrifying aftereffects. Nevertheless, we had no other choice and went ahead with the procedure anyways.
It felt a lot longer than it actually was. At some points I felt extreme pain and anguish, perhaps those he had been having to endure since being trapped in a different body. I was able to see into his mind, almost live through him. It was dark and horrible, and I saw things that were never meant to be seen or felt by foreign entities. For my part, my body tried to railroad him into seeing the desired road, but I am sure he learned more about me that I would have ever wanted to share. Whatever we learned about each other, we kept secret afterwards and did not really talk about it.
As soon as he had the information, we separated again. He collapsed on the floor, while I felt unusual changes take effect in me. Whatever it was made me feel different. But I had no time to contemplate that, as I panicked when I saw him collapsed on the floor. Those were some moments of sheer panic. I tried desperately to heal him, but my healing had no effect on his body. When I reached the point of despair, he suddenly came to, though I could feel even more of him had been lost, and his deterioration had continued.
Soon after he recovered somewhat, we proceeded to talk about the next steps. With the map and knowing we were running out of time, he said it was time to start planning the assault of the Qliphothic Realm. Our team has undergone changes, and we decided we should try to get more people to help us, as we have lost personnel to external reasons.
As we said our goodbyes, I decided not to bring up the uneasiness and strange sensations I was feeling. I could feel something trying to change me from within and my body responding violently to the attempt, but that was something I would bring up with my daughter, Guzel.
II. My Body, My Bots
That afternoon, I went straight to Guzel. The changes were strange, and I knew something was wrong.
Guzel analyzed me closely, and determined that there was nothing wrong with my bots, that it was not a technical malfunction. However, she did tell me I was a danger to the planet, and that she would provide me with equipment to keep me from setting the atmosphere of the planet ablaze.
I was shocked! First, how she could say there was nothing wrong with the bots, but then mentioning them malfunctioning. So, I urged her to explain to me. She started by explaining the nature of our bodies. We do not have brains, instead, each both of ours acts like a brain. She described them as superbrains. Instead of atoms, our bodies are made up of 7*10^27 organic nanobots. Each of these produces 10^36 W/sec in energy, which means that each bot produces as much energy as an entire galaxy does each second. The reason for this is because of the vast amounts of energy they are capable of storing. As she detailed, that is why we know multiple cycles worth of history, which is why I had blackouts previously. . .it was my bots revealing our history to me.
She then said our ringworlds are especially designed to handle whatever energy production we are unable to control, but that outside them, we wear robes like the ones she always wears while in this time. Guzel gave me some robes for me to use while I learn to control my energy production. She also modified my armors to serve the same purpose, basically remaking them with materials from the future, which made them lighter, more flexible, and also stronger.
As to my changes, she could only venture to say that it was some external energy trying to take control of my bots, but that these bots were so resilient as to resist that force. However, it would not stop the force from seeping some of the energy. Furthermore, the energy seemed to strengthen or weaken according to my feelings. Feeling of lust or passion would have one result, that of hatred a very different form of energy. She asked me to keep from getting angry or sad, as uncontrolled, that could be lethal to a most living organisms.
III. Ace the Mage
The following day, I sought to find out what this force affecting me was. Guzel, like me, is entirely devoted to science. Whatever is affecting me is outside the realm of science, and thus, she can only help me try to contain it, not eradicate it. This lead me to the mystic library. While there, I stumbled upon Professor Zakat.
As we began discussing the next steps, we overheard a nearby person who seemed troubled. Upon first viewing, both of us assumed he was some sort of manimal mage. He had the feet and tail of a wolf, the head of a horse, and the features of a third animal.
We asked if he needed help, and thus we heard his tragic story. He was no manimal, in fact he was human. As mages tend to do, he was the curious and cocky type, so he tried to perform a spell above his capacity. The result was his current form. He was in the library looking for texts that my contain spells powerful enough to revert him to his human form.
We sympathized with him, and offered to aid him. The Professor mentioned we were preparing for a mission to the Qliphothic Realm. Ace, the mage, posited that the realm was known for having lots of lost knowledge. Catching on, both the Professor and I played up that aspect, eventually persuading him to want to accompany us.
The Professor then administered his test to determine whether he may be Petey, and after it came negative, he would proceeded to asses him further. I had to leave, but it was knowing that the mage seemed reliable and willing to aid.
IV. Ethics Change
Since I have become closer and closer to Guzel, we have both been influencing each other. She is starting to value individual lives more and more, realizing that sometimes empathy and compassion should trump her commitment to pure utilitarianism. Always acting for the sakes of the greater good, without regard to individual concerns can be heartless and cruel.
On the other hand, she has shown me that too much empathy and compassion is just another form of selfishness. That by falling prey to those emotions, we can sometimes cause irreparable harm to large numbers of people. That close relationships to some will often blind us to the pain and suffering of those we do not know. An extreme example is the family hiding from a death squad, when suddenly a child begins crying. According to my views, it would be monstrous to do something to that child. Guzel would differ. She would insist that to save the whole, the child may need to be sacrificed.
Though I still find it appalling, I am finding some merit in what she says. That is why I have begun doing whatever is necessary to achieve a positive outcome. This includes lying and cheating when I think these will lead to a better result. It is why I lied and misrepresented things to Ace when we were trying to talk him into joining us. Surely saving Professor Zakat is the greater goal, and we must do whatever is necessary for it to happen.
V. Migos
It has been several weeks now since Migos and I formalized our relationship. We are not boyfriend and girlfriend per say, but we are seeing each other. He is everything I could ever want in a partner.
At first he was reluctant to sleep with me, as he thought it would ruin our friendship. I insisted however, almost begged, letting him know that this time, I really did want to be intimate with him. Eventually we did, and at first it was just that—lust. Over time, however, our relationship changed. He began asking me out on actual dates, he would buy me little gifts, and more than all, he would always remind me how beautiful I am. He has been encouraging me to get my modeling agency going, he seems to almost worship me, calling me his ‘White Venus.’
In his arms, I feel completely safe from everything and everyone. He provides me a warmth I had never really felt. I have come to realize that Osman merely provided me the illusion of warmth and protection, but that it was all for his ends. Migos is different, he loves me for me, and sees me as an equal to him. He does not seek to use me, he sees me as a partner.
In bed, he has shown and taken me places I never imagined! Part of it is that he worships my body and my beauty like no one ever has before. He seems to love every inch of my figure, and it just makes me feel so great and fulfilled.
VI. Mr. Mortame
I have also maintained a close relationship with Mr Mortame, owner of Mortame Industries. Other than Migos, he has been the most supportive in encouraging me to get my agency going. He also helped me get rid of that Qliphothic energy affecting me last time. For that I am thankful and promised him I would repay as soon as I could.
Like Migos, Mr Mortame seems to really enjoy my company, as he asks me out often. I enjoy his too, as he has so much to teach me. He is from an alien species that mixes technology and magic, creating strange and powerful hybrid instruments. Needless to say, I find our talks fascinating, even those times where he suddenly shifts to talking about how beautiful I am. Still, he is respectful of me, and insists he is merely being honest and telling me his honest opinion.

A New Life?
09.26.2018
A day after conversing with Guzel for the first time. By that I mean actually talking with, I had the first mother-daughter talk today. She is not so different from me. At only 20 years of age, she is naïve and completely convinced of her own righteousness. She is also very torn inside and confused by feelings that hundreds of thousands of years of genetic engineering have not been able to do away with.
Yesterday we had the ice-breaker. Today, it was a real discussion. The girl is in love! This realization crushed me, as I know my actions will have repercussions, and I may end up losing a daughter shortly after gaining her. But, back to Guzel. She is completely enamored with Viktor—yes, that Victor, the one who was in my bed a couple of days ago. Her problem is that in her society, she cannot love someone that is basically considered at the same evolutionary level we would consider a dog. The way she described it; it broke my heart.
I told her not to torture herself over such things. First, I had to correct her racist views. Humans are sentient creatures, capable of understanding feelings and rational thought. Dogs are not. So I let her know her comparison was fallacious. Second, she is in another place and another time. She is entitled to live a full, fulfilling life in this time period before she is blinked back and forced to carry out her duty as the leader of the Holy Kingdom of Novi Kazan. She will be burdened with ruling that galaxy for billions of years, perhaps even longer. I do not see a reason why she cannot spend a short few years, say the life span of a human, with a person she has come to love.
I. Qliphothic Shenanigans
Several months ago, James, Tiberium and I went into the Qliphothic realm in search of some codes. The experience was terrifying, and it ended up in failure as we were unable to achieve our goal. More than that, through the mission, I was the main target of the demons, who seemed drawn by something in me. Anyways, when facing a powerful mage and his hundreds of minions, at some point my shields failed, and I died. It did not take long for my bots to bring me back to life, but that experience had haunted me since we left the realm. Professor Zakat even warned me that the Qliphothic realm can change us, that it corrupts whatever it gets its hold on.
Well, today I stumbled upon an old friend, the retired hero turned businessman Mr. Mortame. We conversed for most of the night. I gave him the short version of what I had gone through, and he surprised me, as his wife had been murdered by his time-travelling son. The reason and specifics were different, but the overall experience was something we shared in common.
At some point, the topic of what had been going on came up. I told him about my blackouts, how I do terrible things to people, and how Guzel follows me around cleaning up my mess. He posited that maybe some malfunction in my bots had taken place since that day. . .the day Guzel murdered Osman and my child. Mr. Mortame thought that it may have something to do with such a large part of me being removed.
I told him that it was something I had not considered, but that it struck me as odd the change had only taken place after that day. So, he opened his laboratory for me so he could properly scan me. It was an opportunity I was not about to waste, and we teleported there almost immediately.
The scan showed we were completely wrong. My programming had not failed. How could it? It is Kaneshi technology after all. The problem was that incident in the Qliphothic realm. Apparently, some evil energy had attached itself to me. While I remained healthy, it stayed dormant, unable to break into my bots. However, when I was stricken with grief, and sank into the abyss of darkness, that energy was able to get a hold of my, and would battle my bots for control. It is why the blackouts were short and did not happen often.
Fortunately, he informed me he may be able to help. For that, we went to his apartment on Earth, where he called upon two others to come help with the procedure. One was Connor, a relative of his who has a very powerful regenerative ability. The other, Varienne, a mage who was there for extra safety.
Mr. Mortame then donned a suit built of alien technology fused with qliphothic energy. The suit is meant to absorb the evil energy, as it feeds on it. The procedure itself was very painful, as the energy attached viciously to my being. I used all the strength I could muster to gain control of my body, as the dark energy was using my normal abilities to protect itself. In a moment of clarity, I shut off all my shields, and he was able to extract the last remnants of darkness from my being.
Our night was not over however. The suit then took over and began attacking us, refusing to disassemble itself. Connor began a process to force it to disassemble, but the suit engaged us in combat. The extraction had been very painful and draining, so I lay helplessly on the floor as I saw Mr. Mortame attack Connor and Varienne. Eventually, the suit started falling apart, sending dagger-like debris throughout the room. It was then I cast shields on the friendlies. In my weakened state, I knew that the shields could not hold for long. Thankfully, Varienne teleported to me and dragged me away, as I was basically underneath the suit.
With magic and a few shotgun rounds, the last of the suit was torn to shreds, and a weak Mr. Mortame managed to place the debris in a safe container.
With that, I felt much better. So much so that I immediately made my way to Guzel, and that is when we had our mother-daughter talk.
II. The Immediate Future
Several things have become apparent to me. First, my music gig cannot sustain my lifestyle. I love singing, but I also like eating more than once every other day. The pathetic stipend the Ministry of Defense gives me does not help either.
Secondly, I am very pretty. I do not say that to boast, or any of that, but because it is a personal asset I can use in entering a new stage of my life. I can use my natural beauty to maybe pursue a career in modeling. I have no acting talent, and I hope to remain in the band, but a modeling career would offer me the flexibility to keep both jobs. In addition to this, I realize I have beautiful friends. Galya, Ina, and Xochitl are also starved for money, so maybe I can start my own agency along with them. We all have plenty of friends in our homeland who would love the opportunity for such work.
Lastly, Guzel may be the key to get my venture off the ground. She has a collection of exquisite gems and metals that we can sell to accumulate the capital necessary to get the project off the ground.
III. Guzel
I fell in love with my daughter. Not that kind, but one of a mother to a daughter. She seemed surprised of my sudden change in attitude. Hell, I was surprised. But, I just held her, patted her head, and I just had to touch those very beautiful cheeks of hers. They truly set her apart from others.
Anyways, she is mine. She is my daughter, and I am committed to making amends for having treated her so coldly. What she did still hurts me, but after talking to her, I know that she believes it was the right thing. She is sorry about it, and describes in detail how it haunts her. We shared a long, uneasy silence upon her confession.
What scares me is that Viktor will tell her what we did. I am still beating myself over that. It was a moment of weakness on my part. For weeks, it had annoyed me seeing how happy they were, and how miserable I was. Watching her smile and laugh while I was tortured by my loss was getting too much to handle. Then, one day I saw they were angry at each other. I approached Viktor, and seduced him. Our animal instincts took over, and we made a mistake I am sure we both regret. Worse still, it is something that will hurt my Guzel when the truth comes out.

The Mirror
09.24.2018
I look at my image in the mirror. The last weeks have not been kind to me. I am a mess, and my actions only serve to sink me deeper into the abyss.
I have virtually list touch with all those I care about. For some reason, something within in demands I inflict terror and harm on others. It is a sort of hunger I try my hardest to control, but am not always capable of.
My old blackouts, where I would travel across time and space, are gone. They have been replaced by awful nightmares. Every time I wake from one of those, my hunger is satisfied and I learn I have commited atrocious acts.
My daughter seems devoted to cleaning up my act, and though I am thankful of that, I am not yet ready of forgiving her. My nights are haunted by billions if spirits—spirits of those she supposedly saved. Mergen haunts my dreams, and the pain and agony of its residents makes peaceful sleep impossible.
So I look at the mirror. I can say without vanity that I remain physically beautiful. However, this hides an awful, decadent persona.
What have you done? What horrible creature have you become? How could you let grief drag you so down to the deaths of hell?
Then I see him! On a corner of the mirror, I can see a figure in my bed. It only takes me a second to identify him—Viktor.

Day 112 pt 2 [IC]
Tuesday: Sinking Again
It was not a nightmare. What I did to those kids actually happened. I tortured them, killed them, then revived and began torturing them again. Worst of all, at the moment I was enjoying it.
I still cannot forgive my daughter. Her mere presence disgusts me. It is a reminder of who and what she took from me. She may have saved the people of Mergen, but she murdered the love of my life and her unborn brother.
————-
Migos came over. Like always, he has the uncanny ability of always making me smile. It was a visit I appreciated, as it gave us time to catch up.
—————
After Migos left, I was visited by the priestess of Inanna. She kept spouting some nonsense about love and beauty. I told her love was nothing but pain. That it is a tragedy in the making. As for beauty, there is no space for beauty in our reality. We are all ugly and rotten at our core. Whatever beauty one may encounter is bound to be destroyed by the ugliness that is so prevalent around us.
As for the light, just like a star when coming in contact with a black hole, it is bound to be destroyed.
Surprisingly, my attitude did not seem to dissuade her. She maintained an annoying positivity throughout, which only made me even more annoyed.

Day 112 [IC]
Tuesday: Nightmares
I once again woke up covered in sweat, another nightmare making my nights unbearable. It is a consistent nightmare, one I seem to live over and over.
The nightmare starts with me in that chamber in the Qliphothic realm. The room where I died while we were swarmed by enemies. I somehow re-live that moment up to my death.
Then, I resurrect, but not in that chamber. I resurrect in a large ballroom, in what I imagine to be Mergen. The star shines bright, and I hear his voice calling to me. When I turn, I see my love, Osman, dressed in a beautiful ceremonial uniform. Next to him is a child, about five years old.
“Mama!” the child screams and begins running towards me. I follow suit, but before we meet, everything goes dark. The dustance between us grows, as he frantically screams “Mama!” and something unintelligeable.
After a few seconds, I am surrounded by what seems like an endless number of people. They all scream the same word, as I begin to slowly levitate over them.
To my horror, their skin begins to melt, as their screams become ones of horror and pain. It is then I understand what they’re saying. “Why?”
It is usually at this point that I wake up screaming every day.
—————-
After days of drowning in grief, I finally left the loft early this morning. I can’t explain why, but I was drawn to Westside.
It was about six in the morning when I heard a woman getting robbed. I immediately teleported to where the assailants were. It was three teenagers up to no good.
I moved towards them, then something unexpected happened.
They shot their guns at me, but all the bullets stopped about a foot away from my body.
“A cape!” one of them screamed and began running away. I raised my hand and pointed at him. At that moment, the kid exploded. It was like a bomb had gone off inside him.
The victim screamed and began running away. The other to assailants looked at me before trying to escape.
Their attempt was in vain. They were held in a choke hold in mid air by some unseen force. Then they were slowly brought forth to face me.
I could see fear in their faces, as they struggled helplessly. More than that, though, I could sense it, taste it. To my horror, it was exhilirating. Something about their terror was so delicious, I could not have enough.
Their skin soon began to melt, as I kept them conscious and alive. They plead for mercy, but that just seemed to feed me even more.
After they were nothing but a puddle of goo in the air, I brought them back to life, then started the process over again.
Suddenly, a familiar voice screamec “Mother!” Instinctively, I turned and shot a ball of energy in her direction.
“What are you doing?” she said, surprised as the energy hit her, bringing her to her knees. “Have you lost your mind?” she asked as a second ball of energy hit her.
Then I felt something headed in my direction. It was an arrow, aimed at my knee. I turned to face the source, but that gave her enough time to launch her counterattack.
I felt my mind being drained before passing out. . .
—————
When I came to, I saw Vladya and my daughter standing by my bed.
I told Vladya what a terrible nightmare I had just had. My murderous daughter then interrupted, explaining that had been no nightmare. That she had spent the morning healing those kids and erasing their memories of what they had endured. . .

While Yuliya recovers from her grief, I leave a couple of beautiful songs: The first is Zaman. The opening audio is that of a Tatar POW in WWI who was forced by a German officer to sing for him. The Second, is another folk song, this one by Alsou.

Yuliya & Osman, Прости за любовь
I woke up feeling somewhat different. Like some change had suddenly taken place. When I opened my eyes, Osman was sitting at the desk, he had breakfast with.
“It’s still warm Yuliya, I wanted to see my queen keeping my baby well-fed and healthy.”
I looked at him skeptically and said, “I can’t be your queen, you just want me as your lover.”
He got up, walked up to me and placed his hand on my stomach. “You still don’t believe me, do you? You are my queen,” then caressing my stomach, he continued, “He changes everything.”
Again, my mind was telling me this was a trick, that he was again trying to play with my feelings, but little by little, my mind was being overruled by my heart. Something inside insisted he had indeed changed.
“Yuliya, stay with me and you won’t just be my queen, we will rule the Milky Way.” He then got on the bed, slowly undressing.
“I don’t care about any of that.” I told him, unaware, I was following suit.
“What do you care about then, my queen?” I felt him move to that most wonderful of places as he said this.
“I only care about you.” I confessed, my mind unable to believe I had not learned yet.
He smiled, then started kissing me, slowly moving further down my body, kissing my stomach then further down. We made love for hours, until our bodies could no more. Afterwards, we lay there, I felt so safe, so comfortable knowing he was beside me. All the wrongs, his abuses were forgiven at that moment. I knew once more that I wanted to spend my life with him.
He talked about how I had inspired him to change. How he would enact changes to Mergen’s society when he took over. How he would replace the nobility with a democratic style modeled after those of Earth.
He also talked about us, how I would be his equal and not just pretty arm candy. He told me he wanted me to lead the Mergen science program once he had enacted his reforms.
-------------------
After hours of laying in bed, talking with Osman, we finally got up, took a shower together, then got dressed. We headed to the bridge, where he said that the warp drive had charged faster, thanks to some energy source in the ship, so we would be leaving sooner than expected. He said how this ship was top secret, the first cruiser ever built by the Mergen Space Fleet. How his brother was furious that most of the military had sided with him, and were currently engaging his brother’s loyalists all over the colonies.
This talk of war worried me, and I changed the conversation to investment in technology. I wanted to know where Mergen stood compared to Earth. He smiled and detailed the advantages they currently had over Earth.
“So you see, my queen, the Russians can bark all they want about you being with me, but they have no way of enforcing such treaties. You are not there property! You are my future wife, and mother of their future king.”
Being recognized as a person lightened my heart, I moved to kiss him, when we heard the alarms go off.
-------------------------
We received a communication that the ship was under assault. He ordered a group of 9 powerful Mergenese elite metas to join us at the bridge. These were his personal guard, the best of the best Mergen had. The rest of his guard was ordered to join the forces in the ship and repel the attack.
For what seemed like hours, we kept hearing updates on the fighting. The invaders kept gaining ground, inching their way closer and closer to the bridge. Osman ordered his men to gather up and launch a decisive counter attack against the invading troops.
We heard an officer inform us they were ready to begin the counter assault. For the next 30 minutes we did not hear any updates. The elite troops accompanying us prepared for one final battle at the bridge. I suddenly sprung to alert, ready to fight alongside Osman if need be.
As tension grew inside the bridge, I had a strange feeling overtake me. Something seemed to link me with one of the unseen invaders. My stomach started hurting too, like my baby felt the connection also.
The door to the bridge suddenly disintegrated. I was able to spot a group of four, including Vladya and three unknowns before Vladya shot an intense bolt of lightning towards Osman. In something I had never done before, time seemed to stop, I saw the bolt coming almost in slow motion and I cast a shield around Him, which absorbed the entirety of the bolt.
Things returned to normal, and Vladya kept attacking him, though my shields served to protect him. It had just been a couple of seconds, when I turned to see the 9 guards floating, seemingly disabled. Suddenly, their chests burst open and their hearts jumped out. I was terrified by such monstrosity. Then it hit me, I had seen something like this once before. I looked at one of Vladya’s crew and she looked strangely familiar.
The young woman then sent a burst of pink energy towards me, sending me back hard against the window of the bridge. Osman was frozen in place, but even being thrown through the air, I was able to keep my shields up on him. As soon as I landed, I resurrected one of the guards, who without thinking, shot his energy gun at one of the Russians, making her head burst in a single attack. He then shot off the archer’s leg, and wounded Vladya, before she killed him again with lightning.
The speed of events made me unable to resuscitate any of the other guards, as by now I could tell the woman was trying to keep me distracted. Osman then came too and immediately charged at her. Before landing a hit, though, she paralyzed and levitated him, her eyes glowing pink, trying to burst his chest open, and turning to me.
Again, time froze, and the only ones who seemed to move were her and me. I was using every bit of energy I had to keep Osman’s chest from bursting open. Time frozen, it seemed the woman and I were in a stalemate, in a battle of wills.
I slowly crawled towards her, begging her to stop. “Please don’t do this. I will turn myself over if you let him live.” I told her as I reached her feet, looking up in tears, feeling my energy slowly getting drained from my body. Then she spoke, and her words shook me to my core.
“Mother, you don’t understand. This man is a stain upon the universe. If he lives, billions of lives will be on your hands.” Then she intensified her attempts.
“What trickery is this?” I asked.
“It’s no trick mother. You know I’m right.”
I closed my eyes, trying to make sense of everything. Then I saw her at the Imperial Palace in Novi Cheboksary. She was but a young girl, but I could tell it was her. When I opened my eyes, I knew she was right, I knew she was telling the truth. Yet, my heart could not let go of Osman, of my first real love.
The ship then warped to the Mergen System. The stalemate continued, until out of the deepest lengths of my body, I managed to unleash a wave of energy that threw her back, breaking her hold on him. The energy paralyzed her, Vladya and the archer, as time returned to normal. I hugged Osman, telling him nothing could ever split us apart.
Knowing they were paralyzed, I told Osman we should release them to their government. Then I kissed him. It was a long, passionate kiss, one that seemed to last forever, when I suddenly felt a sharp pain. A look of anguish and despair appeared in Osman, and before he hit the ground, I saw a bright pink lance heading out of the ship.
I looked down, and a large hole was in my stomach, and Osman’s. Before I could heal him, I felt myself powerlessly levitated, the pain still in my stomach. The woman, my daughter, then approached me and said she was sorry. The ship, Osman, and everything then disintegrated before my eyes. The Russians and I were in a bubble in space, the hole still in my stomach. The pink lance then blew up, energy spreading across the vastness of space as the bubble protected us.
“Goodbye brother” she said. Suddenly falling to her knees, as my body collapsed also. She crawled towards me, kissed my forehead, and said she would explain later. Then she moved her hand to close my eyes, causing me to sleep.
THE AFTERMATH
I woke up in a pod in the moon base. Vladya was sitting there, along with the archer and the woman whose head I had seen blow up. My daughter was also there. She introduced herself as Guzel, and proceeded to explain everything.
At the time I did not realize it, but I was so drugged by them that I could not really feel a thing. That is why I had not broken down crying.
Guzel then informed me that the lance she had shot through me had headed straight to the star in the Mergen System, causing it to go supernova. That in 11 years, we would be able to witness that event. She then asked me not to worry about Mergen because it had been relocated to a distant galaxy.
I tried to move, but my body was not responding. She then closed her eyes, and told me what I had already figured out, but had feared all along.
“I could not let my brother be born. You do not yet have the experience or ability to lock his powers.”
My heart sank, but again, the drugs prevented any reaction.
“One day you will understand mother.”
With that, the effect of the drugs were suddenly lifted, and I was finally left alone with my grief. I cried until I was out of tears. I tried hitting things, unleashing that energy I had done back on the cruiser, but I couldn’t. I was back to being my weak self, incapable to damaging a thing.

Yuliya & Osman, Pt. 4
This morning I got an opportunity to speak with Viktor. He kept staring at me, trying to hide his feelings. I tried not to pry, but the look was so constant that I had to speak up. Viktor seemed surprised and ashamed that I could read his thoughts. I told him there was nothing to be ashamed of, that it was natural to find someone attractive.
He was resistant at first, but eventually opened up. I let him know we were in the middle of an important mission, but that I would not mind going to dinner with him after this was all over. Unfortunately, this gave him the wrong idea, but he seemed so motivated, I figured it could not hurt to keep him in this state for the remainder of the mission.
Later, he wanted to know about Novi Cheboksary and the Chuvash People’s Republic. I had a hard time describing my home, since modern humans have absolutely no frame of reference as to just how much the species is to advance in the next 1000 years, little own 300000. Nonetheless, I did my best, and he seemed taken in. He wanted to know more and more about it.
We must have conversed for a couple of hours before Stroeva informed us we were ready to continue our mission.
—————-
We made our way back to the crashed ship where we saw Mergenese cyborgs holding some of the Steelhead soldiers prisoner. They were split into three main groups. Stroeva decided that the best way to proceed would be to split into three groups and charge at the different groups of cyborgs, otherwise we risked the prisoners getting slaughtered. Stroeva charged one of the groups, I was to take out another, and Viktor and Xochitl were to team up and take out the third.
Though numerous, these cyborgs were simplistic and weak, made of common metals that were easy to destroy. Stroeva and I dispatched our enemies quite effortlessly, but I saw both Viktor and Xochitl struggling with their group. Not only that, but they both appeared to have significant injuries that their natural cell regeneration could not overcome, so I rushed to their aid. Stroeva took her time, and only got there once we had dispatched the final group. Fortunately, none of the prisoners were injured.
A few minutes after, wave after wave of cyborgs attacked our position. With the help of the Steelhead soldiers, we were able to repel these attacks. Though poorly trained, these soldiers fought valiantly. Perhaps inspired by our demonstration of power, they seemed inspired and fearless, a feeling of invincibility filling their minds. I made sure to keep them healed while using my psionic abilities to dismantle the coming waves of hostiles. Stroeva and Viktor were able to deal massive damage to large groups, while Xochitl attacked the strongest of the enemies one by one.
Soon after we had finished off the attacking cyborgs, we spotted a large Mergenese ship approaching. This was no simple corvette, but a destroyer. It struck me as odd, as nothing in our records indicated Mergen had the technology to build a destroyer, but here was one. I teleported us inside the destroyer, were again, we were met with heavy resistance by combat cyborgs.
We fought every inch of the way towards the bridge of the ship. As we advanced, I could sense the confidence of Xochitl and Viktor growing. The experience they were gaining was invaluable, and they seemed more in control of their own abilities. I could also sense Stroeva was very pleased by this turn of events, seeing them go from inexperienced soldiers into very well-disciplined veterans in just a matter of days.
When we reached the bridge, we encountered the captain of the ship. It was a strong cyborg with advanced ai, and he was able to summon a clone of Justiciar to his aid. At this point, Justiciar himself teleported into the bridge and aided us in the coming battle.
To our surprise, the battle was fairly short, as they offered little resistance to our combined attack. The cyborg had strong defenses, but once Stroeva set up her lighting sigils and unleashed her gigabolt, the battle was quickly over.
Immediately, it was decided that it would be best to blow up the ship. At this point, Justiciar received a message that Steelhead base was in trouble. He then said he knew the real reason why we were here, and that he was willing to give us the information we sought if we were to help him regain control of Steelhead.
I found his plan compelling, and though I could have extracted the information from him, I knew they had no chance of taking back the base without our help. Also, I realized the base was being attacked by the Mergenese mutants, which to me seemed like a clear indication that they were preparing a land invasion of Earth.
Thus, we took a transport craft back to the base. Justiciar questioned us why we hadn’t just been straightforward with him. Stroeva argued that Canada would never have allowed the Russian government to carry out such an operation on their soil.
It took us an hour to get back to the base. The inside was completely overrun by Mergenese mutants. Justiciar and his men agreed to stay outside and cover our backs while I would accompany the Russian unit to retake the base.
The inside of the base was completely overrun by the mutants. We had to fight inch by inch through every room. Even Stroeva was beginning to show signs of exhaustion from the constant combat.
In one of the rooms, I was able to break into the mind of one of the dying mutants. What I saw shook me to my core. He was a common man, a farmer. Mergen soldiers had come to his farm and taken him. He was then subjected to horrible and painful experiments where he was transformed into a hungry, unthinking killing machine. I saw him devouring the limbs of some unfortunate Steelhead soldier. The image was so foul I could actually taste the flesh of the soldier. Worse of all, I was able to see the poor farmer trapped inside the deepest subconscious of the now corrupt mind.
I spoke to him, tried to comfort him, telling him his soul would once again rejoin the cosmos. That he would be at peace now. He seemed frightened and ashamed by what he had been turned into. He asked for forgiveness for what he had done. I told him he was not the one who should apologize. The monsters who did this to him should.
With that, I said goodbye and left his mind. I asked the unit to stop and explained what I had seen. Xochitl and Viktor were both horrified. Stroeva semed unmoved. She said that she actually thought the Mergenese had done right, that they had turned some useless redneck into a valuable member of society. I could sense Xochitl and Viktor were disgusted with her, as was I. However, for the sake of team cohesion, I decided to drop the topic and told them I was ready to move on.
In the central room, the Mergenese unleashed a giant Sasquatch on us. Unfortunately, we were forced to kill the poor creature. Again, this was the best we could have done, for I know they were ready to turn him into one of those mindless killing machines.
In the final room, a Mergen commander and his guards broke into a tunnel where they tried to run away. We chased them, again, fighting scores of Mergenese mutants. Finally, we came head to head with the Commander and his elite guards. The battle was short, though Xochitl was fatally wounded in the fight.
Stroeva was unmoved, knowing that of my heritage, she told me to go ahead with it. Viktor was disdraught, until he saw what Stroeva was talking about. I approached Xochitl’s corpse and my bots got to work, bringing her back to life. She was horrified and in shock for several minutes before coming too.
Then I approached the corpse of the Commander, bringing him back to the brink of death, when he was still alive. I used this valuable few seconds to pry his mind. Like the farmer, he had been some unlucky soldier transformed into a mutant. Eventually, I got to him, and was able to get his normal self to reveal to me the location of the capital ship carrying my mother. He said we had no way of getting there, and I simply thanked him and released his soul to the comfort of death.
I then informed the squad of what I had learned. I told them my mother was on a Mergenese cruiser at the edge of the solar system. That they were about to warp away to the Mergen system. Stroeva sighed, knowing there was no way of getting to them in time.
As soon as she finished saying that, we materialized inside the Mergenese cruiser. All I needed was to have an idea of its location, which the Commander had provided me with, and I was able to teleport us there.
The ship was full of elite Mergen troops. These were no mutants, but trained, genetically enhanced soldiers. The fighting was intense, and all throughout, we heard alarms going off. While the Russians fought the Mergen troops, I teleported outside and destroyed all the escape pods, then rejoined the Russians in our assault on the ship.
After an hour of intense fighting, we finally reached the bridge. As soon as she saw Prince Osman IV, Stroeva shot a gigabolt at him, but …

OOC: Day 105, from the “rescue“ party’s perspective.
Yuliya and Osman, Pt. 3
Vladya’s Account of Day 2
Guzel is one creepy object! Over dinner, she just sat there, looking at us like a freak while communicating with us telepathically. Apparently, we are too far beneath her to bother actually opening her mouth and talking to us like a normal person. Viktor and Xochitl both expressed their discomfort at being around this thing.
Like the soulless automaton she is, Guzel had a hard time grasping why her invasion of our minds is rude. I would have bothered explaining it to her, but it is useless. It is something only humans understand.
——————-
In the morning I had a conversation with Xochitl. That girl has serious daddy issues. Can’t say I blame her though. Being a bastard is a stigma in every society, and it’s something that weighs heavily on her. I did find out she has a twin sister, but they are not identical. Xochitl has very clear, obvious Mexican features. Her twin has a Belarusian look.
Xochitl is trained in hand-to-hand combat. She is skilled in several martial arts and in lucha libre wrestling style. Her sister is a witch, trained in dark magic like her mother. There is so much more we talked about, but that is something I may bring up later.
————————-
After we had breakfast, we got our gear ready and began our trek to Ice Station Alpaca. There, the place seemed deserted, so we slowly made our way into the different buildings.
In the first building, Guzel proved herself useful. We discovered several scientists hiding there like cowards. The useless Steelhead soldiers assigned to protect them had been easily overwhelmed by these Mergenese creatures. Guzel extracted all she could from them without us having to slap some courage back into their scared minds.
The second building was quite troubling. We found dead scientists all over the place, except for two hiding in the last room. We were then attacked from all sides by Mergenese creatures that appeared to materialize from the ground. Since we were ambushed and did not have time to get in position, Viktor and Xochitl instantly moved to either side of me to absorb the hits while I summoned a lightning storm. The bulk of the enemies, however, focused on Guzel, who created some pink cloud that first paralyzed the creatures, and then made their heads explode.
I did notice Xochitl and Viktor were both frightened. They have received good training, but this mission was starting to become too difficult for them. Thankfully, Guzel has an aura similar to her mother’s which constantly regenerates our health. I also saw her absorb a wound to Xochitl that would have been fatal if Guzel hadn’t absorbed it.
Once we fought our way out of the building, we were ambushed again right outside. This time, we were in formation, with Xochitl doing her best to draw the creature’s attention. Unfortunately, the creatures are not complete idiots and they stormed Guzel and me instead. Again, Guzel used her little trick and between the two of us, we made them burst open, leaving a pool of black goo on the ground.
In the third building, we found it almost abandoned, except for one soldier. We also encountered some strange alien biomass, which we proceeded to set fire to. I did take a sample of the biomass before burning it.
After we had burned the biomass, we heard loud sounds headed towards the entrance to the building. We immediately made our way back. Viktor and Xochitly took point, while Guzel and I stayed behind them. Then, wave after wave of Mergenese creatures charged at our position. I was able to set up lightning sigils. Guzel ran towards the charging creatures, essentially absorbing everything they threw at her while I rained destruction upon them. After what seemed like three endless waves, we managed to annihilate the last of them.
Before leaving, I ordered Xochitl to lead the way, knowing the aliens must have set another ambush outside. To my surprise, there was no ambush at first. However, we stumbled on some panicked Canadian redneck who pointed us towards a cabin near the base.
When Xochitl moved there at my command, she was blown back by the bursting door. Several aliens materialized next to us, and out of the cabin came what appeared to be a more powerful variant of the aliens. Guzel informed me telepathically that this one alien was of higher rank and intelligence. He had lead the storming of the building in Ice Base Alpaca.
We fought for what seemed like 15 minutes, as waves of aliens charged at us. Guzel eventually flew around grabbing their attention while Viktor and I focused-fired on the Mergenese officer.
By now, I saw Xochitl and Viktor were exhausted from the continuous combat, so I decided it was best for us to set up camp inside the cabin. There, Guzel lit up, informing us her mother had been there at some point.
We used our supplies to make a quick dinner. Viktor turned out to be a good jokester, and like me, a loyal supporter of President Vladimir Vladimirovich. We argued with Guzel about right and wrong, about what is and what isn’t civilized. Her naiveté annoys me to no end. Perhaps it’s something she inherited from her mother, who has the same innocent view of the world.
Guzel tried to get Xochitl involved in our discussion, but she simply said that politics was not her thing. Before we split, Xochitl thanked Guzel for saving her life on multiple occasions. I informed her that if she was a better soldier, such wouldn’t need to be the case.

Day 105
Tuesday: Falling
Osman has been unusually nice to me. I know I hurt him, and he hurt me, but my current state seems to have created a very strong bond between us. Yesterday he seemed cold and distant, today he softened up. He was a completely new person.
I was standing in my quarters, next to my desk, looking out into space. The sheer size and magnitude doesn’t really hit you until you witness it from outside Earth’s atmosphere. The contrast of starts sprinkled throughout endless darkness is a reminder of just how small and insignificant each of us is. It is also a reminder of why we should strive to enjoy our existence on this plane.
At some point, Osman knocked on the door. I let him in, and he came and stood behind me, admiring the view of the stars. He then turned me gently to face him, asking if he may. I smiled, telling him it had only been slightly above a month—that my stomach was still flat as ever.
“I realize that, but there is still a life growing in there.” He said, a tenderness in his voice I had not heard since the first few times I met him, a time that seemed like an eternity ago. “It’s a life we made.” He continued.
My mind was telling me this man was trash! That he had demonstrated time and again that he did not care for me, but, something about his voice, about his face just made all appeals to logic my mind was making wither away. I nodded that he may.
Osman lifted my shirt just enough to expose my stomach, then he gently began touching it with his palm. He then got on his knee, placing his ear on my stomach, then looking up at me and smiling. He said confidently, “He’s a boy.”
His comment made me giggle like the blind girl I had once been. “What makes you say that?” I asked playfully. The me of a couple of days ago would have slapped the current me for beginning to fall for his tricks again, but something kept telling me he was a changed man, that the life we had created had turned him for the best.
“I just know, Yuliya.” He said, now touching my stomach again. “He will be a great conqueror, Yuliya! Men will kneel and tremble before him. The mere mention of his name will force them to bend the knee or face destruction.”
“No” I protested. “He will be a man of good. A man who helps those in need and comforts those in despair.”
Suddenly his motion changed. He was now using his index finger to circle my belly button seductively. This made me blink, but I could not tell him to stop. I simply closed my eyes, and let his hand slowly make its way down.
At this point, I was beginning to lose myself in his touch. He may be selfish in intimacy, but he has a way with his hands. He knows me too well, and knows how and where to make me feel special. I allowed him to continue, slowly drowning in the intensity of the moment.
Just when I felt him lowering my undergarments, however, I said “No!” out loud. He immediately stopped. Surprisingly, when I looked down, he had a look of understanding. He asked me to join him for dinner. That he had brought the best cook in Mergen to make us a special dish.
I agreed to join him. He then motioned to the dresser in the room, saying he had asked his crew to stock it with the most beautiful clothing from Mergen. That a queen should look the part.
“Thank you.” I said, still panting, proud I had stopped him, but also hating myself for not letting him continue to pleasure me in the way only he could. “I will be ready in an hour.”
Over dinner, all he could talk about was our child. What he would name him, how he’d teach him to be a warrior. Not once did I think about asking the question that had been hunting me since I found out I was with child—what would happen to me? I had committed high treason, had become a fugitive. Osman could protect me for the duration of my pregnancy, but surely he was bound by law to turn me over once that happened.
