                   She almost couldn't comprehend not seeing either her grandfather or mother not working,  scheming,  strategizing.     There was once a time that it hadn't occupied their every day,  but that seemed an increasingly fuzzy time even though it was only about a decade prior.     What she wouldn't give to see them be able to rest without the galaxy on their shoulders...

                   ❝  That doesn't narrow down the options much.     I could just take it from you and put you out in the Falcon.  ❞          Pressing her cheek into his side a little firmer,  she almost laughed.          ❝  Maybe Naboo?     I'm sure that side of the family would let us hide out at Varykino or something.  ❞

HE CHUCKLES , offering her a small smile . a vacation . a foreign concept for bail indeed . he sighs at her question , casting his mind out . even still , even after all this time , his heart says HOME , even knowing he can never go there again . but truly , there had been no planet like alderaan .

STAR WARS APPRECIATION WEEK ➤ Day 8: Legends ★ Jaina Solo 

If I’m supposed to be the Sword of the Jedi, it’s time I took it seriously.

                   Peering over the edge of his palm at the delicately ridged sphere cradled within it,  soft lines formed between her brows.     It was difficult for her to imagine the model as something gargantuan,  hovering in space a harbinger of death.     The technological marvels required for its creation were entirely lost upon her,  at least at this age,  in this present moment.    All she could see within his grasp was the very reason why the Empire no longer ruled the galaxy.

                   But surprise swiftly overtook the swirl of less admirable emotions within her small ribs,  hazel eyes darting up far above her to the man who would know everything about it.          ❝  That-  that's from the actual Death Star?  ❞     The finger which had been poised to gently poke it dropped back to her side,  all interest lost in an instant with a hint of fear.     If she had touched it,  would she have felt anything of that day,  the horror of it still clinging like an invisible miasma?     But his reasons made sense,  to an extent...  how the man Jaina knew could make such mistakes,  she still couldn't comprehend,  but someday,  she supposed she would.          ❝  Does it make you sad to see sometimes?  ❞

            Why  indeed  ?      The  former  Director  eyed  the  miniature  with  a  tepid  gaze,   reaching  out  to  grasp  it  lightly  in  his  hand.      This  model  brushed  along  his  palm  —  its  quadantium  steel  cool  to  the  touch.        A  conception  of  victory  and  fate.      Till  date  its  very  name  was  still  whispered  amongst  the  galaxy  with  REVERENTIAL fear.        He  held  it  towards  Jaina,   allowing  her  a  closer  look.        ❛  This  is  the  Death  Star  –  or  what’s  left  of  it, ❜        Orson  explained.        ❛ Your  mother  took  most  of  the  metal  for  the  Alderaan  flotilla  but  there  was  enough  leftover  debris  to  make  this  one.  ❜  

     As  with  its  parent,   both  objects  were  painstakingly  fashioned  by  himself,   albeit  what  took  decades  for  the  original  took  mere  months  for  its  miniature  offshoot.        ❛  It’s  a reminder,  ❜        he  replied  after  a  short  pause,   his  smile  fading  into  a  wisp.        ❛  Of  a  lifetime  ago.      It  held  everything  I  had  once  chose  –  a  path  of  mistakes  and  FEAR.      Most  would  prefer  to  forget,   but  I  think  it  a  worser  crime   if  I  chose  the  same.  ❜

Whenever I listen to this song for Jaina, I think of how the Imperial Remnant and Chiss and New Republic worked together during the Vong War... and ngl, during my attempt to do a decent walk and get some sun and feel better this afternoon, I realized that this would also make like an incredible in-universe song from that time inspired in part by that cooperation.
