William Eggleston
William Eggleston was one of the first photographer I learned while studying the History of Photography. I was very fond of his work, presenting the mundane with a great amount of visual impact through photography. As the photographer’s photographer, Eggleston’s contribution to the contemporary art through the use of color photography has created a great influence. Composition and color contrast, making the most out of an simple scene is what I love about his work. By framing the shoot and leaving space for imagination gives the audience the room to think about the story behind the picture. Specifically by having close up shoots of hands, backs, emotions, while maintaining the depth of field in the picture.
Stephen Shore
Shore and Eggleston both are very iconic representation in the color photography world, who are the ones that started to shoot pervasive everyday. Shore’s shots has less contrast in color, but the color tones are mostly unified. He focuses more on how the entire scene is like, the subject of the photo is everything in the scene. As one of the photographer during the new topographic movement, his work changed the traditional depiction of landscape, with plain documentation of views, avoiding purposefully made authentic photos.
Lewis Baltz
As one of the impactive photographer who was also a part of the New Topographic movement,Baltz’s work is very different from the mainstream photography during the time. The project of the New Industrial Parks and Tract Houses focuses on places outside of the common places. Balt focused on places such as warehouses and industrial sites, therefore the composition and structure of his photographs are very minimalistic, creating spacial aspects.

Protesters Call for Boycott of B&H Photo After Company Ignores Workers’ Demands (Source: Hyperallergic)
Ongoing protest and boycotts towards one of the biggest electronic stores B&H started last Friday, organized by the NYC democratic Socialists (DSA). They claimed that the company decided to move its two warehouse from Brooklyn to New Jersey. Even 80% of the labor voted to reject this offer in January, the Company claims as both leases are expiring, the migration is irreversible. According to many sources, it is sure that most of the workers in the warehouse are hispanic, and often faces racial discrimination. B&H has also been fined by the US department of labor with many labor violations. The workers are giving with two options: Relocating to the navy yard warehouse or receive a severance for those who don't want to move. But workers pointed out that there are problems with relocating to the new ware house, workers will be likely to work over 13 hours a day under bad working conditions. And to avoid this would only make the workers suffer from losing their job. I believe this kind of action would cause the company to lose many of its royal customers, especially the ones who visit the physical stores. As things get more controversial, it may also effect customers that buy online.
