Thinking about that one time when I came out to my religious grandmother as bisexual. After explaining to her what that meant, I asked her if she still supported me. I was nervous that she held homophobic beliefs because of her religion, but she looked at me and said, "God loves everyone and God doesn't make mistakes. It's not a mistake that you're bisexual. I will always love you."

She then went on to tell me that she actually catered for a lesbian couple's wedding one time and that it was "a beautiful wedding" and the couple had "very pretty dresses."

Take this as a reminder that not every religious person is anti-LGBT. Not every religious person is bigoted or ignorant. Not every religious person believes that you'll burn in hell for who you are or for who you love.

I hope everyone has a great coming out experience like this one ♡
