The quarters afforded to the knight are pleasant: a proper bed with soft sheets, personal storage, a private bathroom, and even leg room.
There isn't much time to enjoy it yet, though. Shrike isn't long behind, carrying a small plastic crate with a clipboard and a basic handheld medical scanner, which she sets on the bed as soon as she gets in.
"I'll make this quick, but first," she says, reaching up towards her helmet, "I'll make it fair."
She carefully pops a series of latches, releases a safety, and pulls up.
In comparison to the maned canid visage, she looks shockingly normal; the Shrike in the suit is a sharp featured woman with a dark complexion, long black hair pulled up into a high bun, slightly silvering at the temples.
She gives the knight a warm smile. "The scanner won't work through hardsuits. Helmet off, please," she asks, tone reassuring.

It's not for you, it's for the crew. Any amount of travel's a long time being stuck together in tight quarters, and it's too easy for sick to get dragged aboard and spread around.
[Shrike gives the knight a once over. Realizing, she sighs into her suit's vocoder.]
You do look like death, knight. Get your rest. The second you're up you'll be getting that check though. It takes five minutes: it's for disease, I don't care whatever else you've got going on.
safe. thank providence i'm safe thank god

You're getting a checkup from Med first. That's just procedure, you can sleep all you want after.
I have some business away from the core so you're going to be along for the ride, but after I'm done we'll see about dropping you off on Nova Maxios.
Give Kapteyn station some thought too. Nicer than you've been told, and I've got people who owe me favors there.
safe. thank providence i'm safe thank god

The Presbyter Orbis wasn't about to be happy - if they found out, of course. The detour to Hesperus was long but it gave her time to come up with a plan... and Shrike loved a good plan.
"Are we ready?"
The command deck is unanimous. "Aye captain."
"Send it."
Comms punches in the the message and attaches relevant coordinates: 'Terminal 12. Let your pilgrim know.'
Ops signs off on leave, releasing the crew to overwhelm the local bars and teahouses as a smokescreen. Shore patrol's behind them to make sure they don't get too rowdy.
Engineering accidentally leaves a lower hatch open and convenient gangplank down during routine hull checks.
A gaggle of lightly geared marines, hand picked for their skill and discretion, disembarks to mill around the berth. Should any pilgrim arrive, they'll be swiftly escorted on board.
Time to rescue a Knight.
i think jaspis is angry with me for what i said last time we met, that. if technology is something which undeniably improves quality of life, why is it forbidden? do you know anywhere someone could hide. ~ your local knight of ludd (@bhvkzgljy2h1cmno)
Apologies to the archcurate for being such a profane and uncouth influence on one of her most faithful servitors.
I'm afraid that I don't know of many places that would be safe: few places for a fugitive Knight to lay low, and certainly nowhere out of the grasp of the Church.
[She pauses before picking her next words carefully.]
That said, I've been meaning to tell you that I've been known to help pilgrims find their way across the sector on occasion.
However long the journey, I don't think you'll find much safer than my fleet. I have good accommodations set aside on my flagship for guests, and my crew doesn't cause 'em much trouble.
If you know anyone who might be interested in such an offer, I'll be stopping near Gilead in a day or so for resupply and shore leave.
Think about it, and don't keep me waiting.
[Transmission ends.]

Comrade, let me tell you: I've fought from one end of the sector to the other, seen all manner of thing that any inner core landlubber would go weak in the knees to just hear of, and stared down Lady Kanta in her very own court (it's a little game we play, she likes the novelty of it).
You couldn't pay me enough to take my fleet into the Abyss.

go to the local luddic teahouse and ask for their raspberry kompot. delicious drink. ~ your local knight of ludd (@bhvkzgljy2h1cmno)
Ah, finally, some culture around here! Thank you for the recommendation, I was just getting a little bored of the usual chai - as much as it compliments the views.

I once was laying a gal from Jangala - commissioned officer still in academy, has a wild hair to show up her rich parents, you know the type.
Damndest thing - she always wanted to duel me in the morning instead of having a coffee or anything like that. Can't say a little swordplay at the crack of first watch didn't work to get the blood pumping - and she wanted to win.
Now imagine that energy at third watch, right before bed.
Fantastic sex though, and she sure knew how to handle a blade. Never had it better; sometimes I wonder what happened to her after we split.

League bars are always such dumps, and Tri-Tach ones makes my skin crawl. Now Church tea houses... that's where the magic happens, that's the good shit.

understanding the spanner is understanding the bolts. why do they matter? you need them to hold together the conduit. and the conduit makes the ship run with the hands that hold it together. how many hands does it take to run a ship? depends on the bolts. you gotta know everything to understand anything

What the Diktat doesn't want you to know is that it's not the only place to get cheap fuel - Heg space often has decent prices if you know where to look. Sindaria is the only place you can get the infamous Sindarian corndog though.
