Dayum [kelsie]! Back at it again with [that amazing plot and character development and an attention to detail that makes me want to cry from how beautiful your writing is]! (I would apologize for the vine reference but 90% of my conversations have at least one with them so they were bound to come up eventually lol). My brotato chips, this piece is a work of art (HAHA PUN INTENDED). I loved how the relationship between the main character and taeyong was developed from both perspectives. It really adds depth to the situation they are in and the emotions that they’re feeling. I think my favorite part of the story was the author’s description of taeyong’s collection at the end of the work. I’m not going to spoil the contents of said paintings, but I will reveal that I am so impressed by the layering of art in this section. The writer had to come up with the subject of the pieces, decide how they would work in a painting, and find a way to accurately portray their vision in writing. Kelsie performed beautifully in doing so. I’m just in awe of her talent in weaving a magnificent story with spectacular attention to detail. 478/10 would recommend if you’re looking for a beautiful story that will tug on your heartstrings

Fic authors deserve more credit.

Story time: I started a book about 23 hours ago and just finished it. Also in that time I slept for 10 hours, spent time with family, was at work, etc. Anyway, I enjoyed the book (Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda). But it felt like it flew by, so after I finished I looked up the word count because what are pages? Pages are meaningless. I only function in word counts anymore.

The estimate I found was 58,580. My immediate reaction was “oh, that’s why. That’s nothing!” But what a shitty response. Because no. That’s not nothing. That’s a whole. Damn. Book. An entire novel! And Fic authors regularly bust out 30k, 50k, 100k, 150k words. AND THEY DO IT FOR FREE. WHILE WORKING AND LIVING THEIR LIVES.

So anyway, thank your favorite fic author today because they deserve it. Because they’re amazing. They’re the MVPs.

Howdy all! Been awhile since I’ve done one of these fic recs, but golly I just finished this one up and let me tell you: it was a m a z i n g. Like, holy shit. Where do I start. I just. Jjsjskaldlr. My goodness. Shoot, I guess I’ll start with the plot development. My word, she’s a long fic but goodness gracious every bit was worth it because the author did SUCH an amazing job with developing the relationship between y/n and hoseok. Like, y/n was so relatable -I too need everything spelled out for me because I am sometimes a dumbass - and hoseok was just as clueless as she was. Usually, I hate miscommunication between characters because it normally feels like it’s forced and can be so easily avoided, but the writer did an exquisite job with making said miscommunication completely natural and logical to their character arcs. I’m such a slut for character development, and this fic definitely satisfied. Also, I loved the writing style of this author; I loved the back and forth between y/n and hoseok’s points of view, the way that the writing style kind of reflects their chaotic thoughts to make it relatable and it draws you and and god! I’m honestly just rambling at this point because it was so beautiful. For real. She’s a keeper. 993/10 would recommend this is probably one of my favorite fics ever

I love all of this author’s aus, but I just reread this one so this gets the rec!! Where to start. This fic is so chaotic and I love every minute of it. I enjoyed the layers that y/n’s character had, what with having her dreams crushed, but I really loved that she wasn’t defined by her past. She moved on, something that is extremely hard to do, and I admire her for that. I also love how yuta and y/n’s relationship is so naturally developed. And Y/n and Yuta were both amazing characters, but honestly? I may have loved the side characters even more. They were all such a hilarious, humongous mess, and them constantly roasting each other but being terrified of real confrontation? Such a mood. Social media aus are so much fun to read when they’re done well, and I definitely think this author did that. 389/10 would recommend if you’re looking for something fun but layered with a great storyline.

I first read this fic when I was relatively new to tumblr, and it remains one of my favorites. I love everything about the relationship between y/n and jaehyun: the adorable banter, the slow buildup, the way he is just head-over-heels for them. I also really enjoy how this fic is gender-neutral. Most fics on this site have a female main character (which I don’t mind at all as a female myself... I find myself relating to female characters more), but this one was refreshingly different. The writing style is amazing, the plot was well-developed, and the characters are to die for. 459/10 would recommend if you’re looking for a very fluffy piece to melt to.

Day 1 [8:00 am]

First days are the epitome of all things anxiety inducing. Meeting new people, trying to make said new people like you, all while in a new environment: any anti-social person’s worst nightmare. Every first day of school nerves never failed to bubble up in your throat, palms growing sweaty from mild fear. And, right at this moment, you feel as though your heart is going to fall out of your ass. You know this is what you’ve been waiting for, spending years at uni to work yourself up to that coveted teaching certificate. Now, you have that certificate as well as a job to go with it. Speaking of which…

You’re stood in front of the entryway, wringing your hands together, unable to shake yourself free of your anxieties. The door opened, revealing a tall middle aged woman who beckons you over. Slowly you make your way over, wiping your dampened hands on the front of your pants.

“Are you the new second grade teacher?” She inquires, looking you over.

“Ah, yes. My name is Y/n, it’s nice to meet you.” You give her a small bow.

“You’re here bright and early, aren’t you? Come on, I’ll show you to your classroom!” She smiles brightly, holding the door open wider to usher you inside. “I’m Han Ana, Mrs. Han to the kids. I’ve been teaching the fourth grade here for about twenty years now.”

You balk at her revelation, feeling like a child next to her. She leads you through the halls, chatting happily about the school before stopping in front of a room.

“Here, room 202 is all yours. You can situate yourself for now, but there’s an all staff meeting in twenty before the kids get here. It’ll be in the staff lounge downstairs. If you need any help I’m right down the hall in 204!” She leaves you at your classroom and you make your way inside. It’s your typical classroom, small desks in rows with one larger sat in the front. You place your bag and laptop on the front desk and open the shades covering the windows. Sunlight bursts throughout the room as you make your way around, inspecting every inch while rearranging desks where needed.

I first read this fic awhile ago and I really enjoyed it, but unfortunately liking and reblogging it didn’t cross my mind so I lost it. Luckily, I came across it again the other day and I am NOT gonna lose it again! I always wonder what it’s like for idols, especially international ones, to leave their homes behind to pursue their passion, and I like the way the author frames that situation in this fic. The writing style is also amazing; ya girl is a slut for a good, unforced plotline and words that just flow off the page, and this writer definitely delivered. The relationship between y/n and johnny is also great; I especially loved the part where y/n just says “fuck it” and puts herself out there. That took courage that I will likely never have, and I love it when characters aren’t afraid to make the tough decisions. I also love sasha and trevor, they’re great friends to both y/n and johnny, and their relationship is just as fun to watch as the main characters’. Overall, a great, well-written fic with cute romances. 647/10 would recommend if you’re looking for a nice slice-of-life au with a nice, fluffy ending.

Yet, what with Kimberly’s incapability to plan anything, let alone a wedding ceremony and reception for a hundred and twenty people, you’d been involved in pretty much every part of the planning, including the compilation of the guest list. And under the letter S, there definitely hadn’t been any Seo.

Yet, here he is, in all his glory. You can’t say he looks just like you remember him – the Johnny Seo you remember is shorter, with worse hair, lanky in the way only teenage boys can be. He definitely wouldn’t have looked this good in a black suit, and he definitely didn’t look as hot.

I’m gonna try my best to leave a rec every day so that the authors get the feedback they deserve, and this series is the newest installment! It’s incomplete as of right now, but I’m gonna write a lil about it anyway! The concept of the list is interesting and unique, and the way that the storyline develops is really cool. I love the confidence of the y/n of this story. She’s such a badass, and she doesn’t lose this quality even as her character arc progresses throughout the series. I appreciate how each smut scenario is different (honestly the creativity that went into these is astounding) and really well reflects the personality of each member’s character in the story. I really am a fan of the push and pull between taeyong and y/n, and I’m excited to see where their relationship goes!! I can’t wait to see what happens in the rest of the series!! 488/10 if you’re looking for a well-written and steamy read!

I normally don’t re-read fics tbh, but I keep finding myself coming back to this one. The word I would use to describe this fic is peaceful. Normally hanahaki aus are filled with almost too much angst, which is natural given the seriousness of the topic. In this fic, there was some slight angst, but it only served to add to the beauty of the story. I enjoyed reading the story from taeyong’s perspective; the character is a sweetheart just trying to make his way in the world doing what he loves. Actually, this is true for y/n as well. I admire this quality in fictional characters and in real people, so reading about it gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling inside. The development of their relationship is gorgeous, and I love how you can tell how much thought the author put into this fic. Overall, an amazing fic by an amazing author. 747/10 would recommend if you’re looking for a short, sweet, and well-written fic that will leave you with a smile on your face :)

taeyong grows a liking towards the quiet author that turns his shop into a writing sanctuary. it isn’t until he starts coughing up flowers that he realizes just how deep his interest in you has gotten.

Taeyong lightly arranged the freshly cut flowers into their holder before switching out the identification placards. Most of the flowers in the shop were going out of season, meaning he would have to switch everything out slowly. With summer coming, he would have more options for the display and was already struggling to find places for all of his new flowers. One of his employees recommended expanding, but Taeyong didn’t necessarily have the money for that right now. The only reason he was able to even stay open was because a few businesses in town used his arrangements for any formal event that was had.

The shop owner let out a small sigh before running his hand through his hair. Summer was always hit or miss for his little store on the corner of the street. It was either busy because of all the new arrivals or slow because people took to gardening their own flowers. He knew now that a flower shop wasn’t the most profitable due to the fact that it was hard to have returning customers. His location didn’t exactly place him in the middle of people’s walks home from work. Not a lot of people stopped by last minute to pick up flowers for a forgotten occasion. Taeyong really only had one returning customer that wasn’t a business.

Pardon my French, but... holy shit. Wow. I- I’m speechless (except I’m not and you’re gonna listen). I’ve been kinda dragging my feet with the whole leaving actual recommendations for fics because if there’s one constant about who I am it’s that I’m a lazy procrastinator but I finished this one and I couldn’t help myself. It was breathtaking. I don’t even know where to begin. The way the author switches between yoongi’s and the main character’s perspective should have been weird, but was in fact exquisite. The slow reveal of their shared past in the form of tasteful flashbacks was incredible. The angst, the slow burn, gah it was just so well written. It’s a bit of a monster of a read, but so worth it. 737/10 you best believe you’re gonna shed a tear or ten.

The development of the relationship between Yoongi and the main character through writing notes in the books was adorable and the concept was deceptively simple, but also unique. However, I do not condone their writing in library books lol. Despite this, you can still tell that both characters genuinely do care about the books that are referenced and I’m a sucker for soft book nerds. 215/10 would recommend for those seeking a short n sweet love story

i remember the first time i read this fic i cried. the depiction of depression here is so raw and real and i knew exactly how the main character felt... a lot of us have been there. the concept was so original as well. the author did a spectacular job with the character and plot development, and i loved the way that the piece was written. 100/10 a tear jerker but with a wholesome ending

The world was always so dull and filled with various shades of blue and gray. Once in a while, you’d see a flash of green or a splash of orange, but they never lingered. You always wondered what gold looked like. 

You would never forget the first time you saw a rainbow. The rain had just begun to dissipate, leaving a single ray of sunshine in its wake. You were around five (maybe six?) years old at the time, accompanying your mother during her weekly grocery runs. You walked out of the store, your grubby little fingers gently grasped in her dainty ones.

You took a quick glance at the sky, letting out a quiet, yet excited, gasp. You frantically shook your mother’s arm and pointed upward, bouncing on the tips of your toes.

“Mommy, look! Do you see that? It’s so pretty!”

Endeared by the vibrant look on your face, your mother simply smiled, kneeling down so the two of you were the same height. She laid a gentle hand on your cheek, tenderly caressing your rough cheeks. She also noticed a streak of brown near the corner of your lips—it was most likely chocolate.

She closed her eyes and shook her head. Her husband must have given you a piece after she made it clear he wasn’t supposed to.

She opened them.

Gold.

“Yes, it’s very pretty,” she said with a chuckle.”Very colorful, right?”

You nodded happily, gaze still locked on the pattern of vibrant shades streaked across the otherwise dull sky.

“Do you know which one is my favorite?” your mother asked, tugging your small body closer so that you rested on her thigh. You tore your eyes away from the rainbow for just a moment to shake your head.

She pointed up to the sky and leaned forward. “That one. The orange one.”

You followed where she was pointing at, and you tilted your head to the side.

“Why?” you asked her curiously. Your mother smiled again, shifting you on her leg so that she could place a gentle kiss on your forehead. She closed her eyes, and then opened them once again.

Orange.

“Because it’s the color I see whenever I look at you.”

alrighty so this is my first official fic rec for my fic rec account (besides the masterlists, of course) and i just have to say that this author is one of my favorites when it comes to social media aus. the plot development is off the charts, the characters and their problems are so relatable, and there’s a perfect balance between fluff, humor, and angst. i’m in love. theyre so soft and cute and i was laughing out loud several times (not just the weird breath you do through the nose either). 300/10 would recommend if you wanna melt from how soft this is
