You weren't at all excited after the Homecomin' game? That was a damn good game, if I say so myself.

The closest thing I’ve gotten to the feeling of euphoria after an important sporting event is winning a round of tennis on Wii sports. If  that doesn’t say enough about my character, I don’t know what will.

Yeah, but it ain't like there's a ton of smog out here in the middle of nowhere anyway, y'know? Not much pollution blockin' out the stars on any night, really.

I do, but there’s always sweaters and scarfs. It’s so clear out though. It’s perfect for thinking or just trying to see the stars or something.

I think that it should be a holiday that is recognized 'cause he did change a lotta people's point of views on race, but I don't think that stores should be closed. It jus' ain't exactly a holiday where you need to spend time with your family.

M'sorry, Miss. I think you misinterpreted me. I don't see why anywhere is closed on a MLK Day. It ain't a holiday like Christmas or Thanksgivin' where you spend time with your family or somethin'.

So both spontaneous and responsible, I s'ppose. But still, I dunno -- as much as I would love to go somewhere like Texas for a bit, my mind is always remindin' me 'bout all the obligations I got goin' on here in Roseboro. I jus' ain't really itchin' to get out of here any time soon either. I never really understood why people don't like it here and call it all "rinky-dink". Maybe I was jus' raised in a small town similar to here, but I sure like the close atmosphere. I know college ain't important to everyone, but s'always been something I wanted to do. Need to take care of my family and make a good livin', y'know?

Basically. It was a pretty spontaneous decision, yeah, but I’d been saving up travel money for years so I guess it wasn’t that unexpected. I didn’t plan on being gone for as long as I was, either, but shit happens. Anyways, I’m sure you’ll have your own opportunities to travel someday, so don’t be too bummed about it. College is important anyways, right? It’s good that you’re committed and care about having a good future.
