New Photography Site! (and Consolidation)
Hey guys. Hope you’re all doing well!
First, the most important: I’m launching a new photography site and venture! Head to ZACHMINERS.COM, for featured photos, framed prints for sale, a new blog, digital video, and more.
Separately but related, I’m going to be going silent on this Tumblr account for the time-being. I’m trying to consolidate my various social media accounts, and try to keep them as focused as possible.
So, here’s what we got:
If you want to see and engage with my best visual work, the aforementioned site is the place to be: ZACHMINERS.COM. The site is organic and will be updated frequently.
If you want to continue to see my more casual photos, the best place for that is my Instagram.
For my music, specifically my album The Invisible Santa But Still Oceans Remain, head over to my SoundCloud.
And if you want to stay updated on all the most important stuff, follow me on Twitter.
For video-specific updates, subscribe to my YouTube channel.
Oh, and if you really want to get wild, I’m on Snapchat as zachology.
I think that should cover it! Thanks for all the love on my posts here!
But this is not goodbye. Just the start of something new!

Listen to “Christmastime Is Here,” the third single from Zach Miners’ album, “The Invisible Santa But Still Oceans Remain”
Tumblr media
Season’s greetings! Here’s “Christmastime Is Here,” the third single from my new album, The Invisible Santa But Still Oceans Remain.
You can listen to and download it on SoundCloud.
I’d like to dedicate this song to Vince Guaraldi and Lee Mendelson, who penned the original version of it for the 1965 TV special, A Charlie Brown Christmas.
You can listen to the second single, “Oceans Remain,” here.
The full album is being released Dec. 10. Details here.

Dreams of surf board shopping
Last night I dreamt I was shopping for a surf board. The store was actually some dude’s house on the beach. (Of course in my dream this seemed totally normal.)
Years ago I surfed briefly in SF, but I quit after an accident. I held on to my wet suit, and I still enjoy swimming at Ocean Beach every once in a while. But I have not done that in a long time.
Perhaps this dream came to me because I was thinking about the beach-y themes on my new album, and the beach cover art.
This is what the board looked like. I think I settled on a board that was roughly six feet tall. I’m 6′4″. I’m not sure whether that makes sense.

Sharing Isn’t Easy
So yesterday I shared the first single and music video from my new album, as well as the track listing and cover art.
Given how much time I’ve put into this album (1 year-plus), and how good I feel about it, you’d think sharing those first pieces would be easy. But it wasn’t.
I was a nervous, self-conscious wreck. Putting your art out there in the world, especially art that’s highly personal and likely to spark a range of reactions from others, requires bravery. It doesn’t matter whether the work is good or bad.
Throughout the music-making process, I have kept saying that I don’t care whether other people like the music or not. The most important thing is that I create something that I’m proud of. Then if other people enjoy it, that’s just icing on he cake.
That viewpoint gets muddied, however, once you do actually put your music in front of other people. No matter what you’ve told yourself before, at least some part of you wants other people to like and connect with it.
I’m not really sure what my point is. I still think the most important thing is to make music/art/whatever that YOU’RE proud of. But I think the nervousness and self-consciousness that comes with sharing it with others shows that, no matter what we may tell ourselves, the best art is that which other people feel they can connect with in some way.

Greetings! On Dec. 10 I'm releasing a new original album, The Invisible Santa But Still Oceans Remain. The album will consist of some creative re-interpretations of Christmas songs, but mostly original songs, with contributions from some very talented collaborators. I'll be releasing the album digitally, for free, via SoundCloud streaming, here. (If you download the free SoundCloud mobile app on iOS or Android, and search for/follow me, you can also easily listen and stream on the go.) You'll be able to download individual tracks from SoundCloud, for free. The first single and music video, "1990," is embedded below, and the track is accessible on SoundCloud.
Nine years ago, I released my first album, Enjoy Your Christmas. It was released only via CD-R, and distributed to a small group of family members and friends.
The season of Christmas, and its music, continues to inspire me. But so do many other things, like other artists, the world around me, and the people in it. I've advanced considerably as a guitarist and as a musician over the past 10 years. This new album I consider a truer reflection, and a more expansive creative expression, of ................

X-Ray
Some nights, everything feels so good, so smooth.
Even if the day was rough, and difficult, and not smooth.
The ride home on these nights feels surprisingly good.
I feel healthy, calm. Strong.
Strong.
My bike feels light, my body feels light, the air feels light.
I glide along like it’s nothing.
And then I look back again on the long hard day.
And now that I strangely feel strong, I see the answers
that I did not see during the day.
(With these answers tomorrow will be a great day.)
Maybe this ride home was all I needed
to set things right on the next day.
But that doesn’t explain why on this day
everything was so hard, and then so strong.
Nonetheless,
this is some weird kind of X-Ray into the next day.
