Hi! I don’t have the time to leave an in-deprh analysis about everything I adore about fallow fields and the scorpion and the frog rn but i just wanted to thank you for writing these beautiful fics. March was A Month Of Horrors for me and binging and rereading those fics got me thru it with much better mental health than i otherwise wld have!!! I’m not even in the naruto fandom! I read those fics on a whim bc your bleach fics were so amazingly well-characterized, and I’m so glad i found them :D. The dynamic btwn ensui and seiko charms me to bits and well i just love everything about seiko and her approach to life. Thank you so much for writing!!!!!!!!
thanks for reading <3 im glad you enjoyed them.

Fallow fields is excellent - really enjoying it so far! I was wondering roughly how far through the story we were - basically (without giving spoilers) how much of canon are you planning to cover? And does this translate into a ballpark estimate of total chapter numbers?
my plan is for the story to hit between 27-30 chapters total!
My "deadline" that i made for myself before i started writing was that no matter what i was wrapping the story before naruto became a genin. so i outlined my intended end point with that in mind.

Hiiiii!! Prev anon back again, thanks so much for the quick reply! Sorry for the bother but I've a few more questions considering this is one of my favourite fics in the Dgm fandom, don't answer if it's too annoying 😅. I always found Reever an interesting choice to be reunited with kanda first, even though I really like his character, why him? It seems the fic is also building up to kanda pulling the rest of his loved ones back to his side, I'm curious how this will relate to plot 👀 since Unohana was being so mysterious I don't think it'll keep being as quick as the first time. Finally, since I haven't ventured into the bleach fandom yet, is this fic set anywhere surfing it's plot? Or after? Do I get to look forward to Kanda's reactions to plot events?
Thanks so much again for writing this fic and answering me so quickly XD as a side note I also adore your ffxiv fics too, keep up the good work!
Reever's there because I like him and but I believe also he's there for bleach related plot reasons-- I wanted a doctor around so someone could join the 12th division. plus I had a good concept for what his bleach weapon set/abilities would be
the fic is set at least 60 years before bleach's main plot kicks off, but many of the problems that ichigo Would face in the main timeline are already very present in Kanda's time.
thanks for reading my ffxiv fics!

Helloooo 👋 just finished rereading Blooming from the Mud for the nth time today, and you actually got me curious about Bleach even though I've always been intimidated by the length of it. What gave you the idea to put Kanda in there? Even if I don't know the source material it feels really well integrated and natural, plus the way you write Kanda is such a delight, I can def see him being like that once he mellows out after the war
So Blooming from the Mud was strongly inspired by Kanda's characterization in Metisket's Hard Living, so my immediat jump after reading that was like, putting Kanda into a new life after death situation to contrast with the way he'd been dealing with aging and being in love.
Which immediately put me in mind for bleach, and since I love bleach and figuring out how new characters would slot into its setting things fell into place after that.

do you have any fic idea that you think is too big in scope to write?
oh yeah a ton of them. generally though when i sense something would be too big to be worthwhile i just make about a page of notes on it and am like well my imagination is beautiful isnt it. and then move on to something else
lets see. i have a bunch of fate/stay night cross over ideas that i do not write because it would require me to write out a full grail war, which i do not want to do.
other than that.. i sketched out a one piece time travel fic and then immediately considered scale and was like no . you cant fool me. i wont do it. sad though bc i liked the concept. my big problem with one piece time travel fics is that the crew comes back too op and gets back together too fast so it would have been by necessity even by my own standards a long slow story covering an immense time

what was the inspiration for Andante?
this is kind of a long arc to go through but basically i had a ffxiv oc concept that i tried to port into worm and by the end of it the only remaining aspect of the original concept was her name. i didnt even keep the powerset. but bc the original concept was "a healer in brockton bay who can tell the future", themes of that stayed even as i redid everything to properly suit worm.
the other big inspiration for Andante was naturally the fact that i really love the ballet Giselle.
'andante' means 'moderately slow' and is used as part of the titling of one of my favorite music pieces in the second act.

Script preview of something im working on!
A recursive function is a function that solves a problem by solving smaller instances of the same problem. A recursive fiction, then, is a story that reaches its solution by solving smaller replications of its original problem--
A skilled recursive fiction, however, conceals the original problem until the very end. You’ll never quite see that all you were doing was solving the same problem over and over until you reach the “original” function and see that everything was just an echo of the original, re-imagined and replayed so that you could understand that overarching, so big it’s almost invisible, problem.
There are many ways of doing this. Gintama asks that the student behead the teacher and that the villain who yearns for emptiness learn that there is no escape from sorrow. Gintoki must do this in every arc that is serious and in some arcs that are comedic, but there’s no escaping it-- just as time does not truly pass in Gintama until the death of the Shogun, neither can he leave the cycle that demands he kill the mentor.
It’s because he failed to do it right. This is a classic time loop maneuver, refusing to move forward until the main character can correct his fundamental failure.
It’s not about killing, it’s about who you are when you kill someone: it’s not about dying, it’s about who you are at the moment of your death.
It’s not about the cycle, it’s about who you are when you break it.
This is one way of thinking about it.
It is not the way that isekai stories typically treat it.
