The clock struck 8:45 a.m. Inside a hospital ward, a baby boy was born with an adorable and handsome face. His arrival was joyfully welcomed by his parents and extended family.

Zathrian Erdem Bragantia—that is my name. I am the youngest of three siblings. Being the youngest can be both a blessing and a curse.

Having an overly sensitive eldest brother and a hot-tempered second brother sometimes makes me wish I could crawl back into my mother’s womb. But I must not give up.

Both of my parents are the owners of the largest oil mining company in England. To expand their business with more branches, they decided to move to Indonesia. My two older brothers and I joined them.

Now, I am studying Mining Engineering at ITB (Bandung Institute of Technology). Some might assume I’m a brilliant student, but the truth is far from it. I constantly feel inadequate, even when others say I’ve done my best. It’s not that I’m ungrateful—I just believe contentment might hinder my growth. Yet, the downside is, I never know when to stop.

People often perceive me as sociable, but in reality, I’m a 100% introvert. Excessive talking drains my energy rapidly. There have even been times when I didn’t want to speak to anyone—including my own family.

Life is a continuous lesson, and mine is no exception. I’ve had to learn many things to become who I am today—cultivating patience, practicing detachment, and healing old wounds buried deep in my heart. ***
