In my AU botw link is both very stupid and very smart. No clue where babies come from but he can figure out how to use complicated tech and or make fancy potions easily.

Zelink drawing I did today ✨️ I see some anatomy things that are wrong here but I'm nitpicking and hating on my art a lot lately so I thought I post it nonetheless 🥹

I like Zelda in all games tbh HAHA so I decided to combine a few design choices I really like and draw a mashup version ✨️

I have a zelink AU, here is the set up

1. Pre Skyword Sword in the first war with Demise is actually when Links first life was. Pre war he was in love with Hylia, in a pseudo relationship. She loved him too but was afriad to love him because he was mortal, to which he promised he would become immortal for her. Their relationship is similar to BOTW Zelink but more imitate.

2. When the war broke out Link stayed and fought, but they were losing. The rest of the Hylians were put in Skyloft after taking some devasting population blows and their food sources taking a big hit. The Goron and Zonai were the only other races at this time and were doing much better, hence why they stayed on the ground. Any Hylians still fighting or somehow left on the ground became the Sheikah.

3. Over time things got worse, and Link stole Hylias sword (the precursor to the master sword) to try to fight Demise one on one. Link was able to do massive damage ofc. He was not able to finish Demise off, however he wounded him enough that they were able to seal him and his armies away.

4. However in this fight Link got horrifically injured and was dying. Hylia found him, having followed him with part of the army when she realized what he did. He died in her arms similar to BOTW. However, he was able to use a 'spell' of sorts. He made Hylia a promise that when the time came, she could call on him and he would always come. This promise, his faith, determination, and immense bravery tied his soul to the triforce of courage.

5. Skyward Sword happens about the same, just with both Zelda and Link being reincarnated. Demise's curse is extending a bit to make it to were the star crossed lovers cannot be together.

---- Link is cursed to be bound to the mortal plain, essentially meaning he cannot become an immortal because he is cursed to die. He can reincarnate, but he won't remember his past lives at all. He'll still be "him"- ie he loves Hylia/ her reincarnations, he loves and plays music, has an affinity for swords and magic, etc. Of course his abilities and affnities change in each life, but all of these things are still part of him.

---- Hylia is cursed so that if she comes to Hyrule and its plain of understanding a devastating plague will be unleashed.

6. The curse makes it almost impossible for them to be together. They can't see each other, he doesn't remember her, and she keeps watching him grow up and die.

7. The only way they can be together is if Hylia reincarnates as Zelada. Which she does, sometimes even when the triforce isn't endanger or when Gannon isn't a threat. She does not do that often however, because she does not want threats or issues to happen and not be able to handle them.

8. Another reason why she does not do this constantly is because it doesn't always work. Sometimes Link dies young, or somehow ends up never metting the princess, or he gets lost somewhere like in OOT. In my AU the Hero of Time does marry Malon, in part because he wasn't around Zelda enough to catch feelings and because he couldn't get back home.

9. Because of all of the issues and heart break Hylia has kind of shut down emotionally. She just tries to be as survival oriented as possible. She "leaves" this more fact-based, emotionless part of herself to be Hylia when she reincarnates. So after the first Zelda each one is only part of the G-dess hence why she's more varied in character than Link.

So yeah here's the set up. I love BOTW so a lot of my AU is inspired by them. Not entirely sure how I will integrate TOTK yet.
