I stumbled across a hidden gem of a show on Hulu and it's scratching the itch left behind after Dead Boy Detectives and I'm in shambles

It's called Crazy Fun Park and I thought it was a fun enough premise albeit campy, but I was sucked in SO fast. Think Bridge to Terabithia meets School Spirits, set at a defunct Australian theme park.

Also it has some of the best casual trans representation I've seen in a while, with both transmasc and nonbinary characters! They just exist and exude queer joy and I adore it.

The two main boys, Chester and Mapplethorpe (insane name but it kind of grows on you lmao) are best friends, with kind of an opposites attract dynamic- and are working on a comic together. Their dynamic is so fun and I won't spoil anything but their character arcs in relation to each other are wonderful.

It perfectly balances zany and campy fun with the depths of grief and loss, and somehow it is one of the more grounded takes I've seen on coping with loss and reconciling with the past.

Anyway PLEASE watch itttt it's a 10 episode limited series and I know you dbda fans will love it

(Also the main character reminds me of Doom Patrol Charles if he was (more) depressed)

if you’re a white creator and your brown/black characters are always sassy, reckless, aggressive or cold and your white characters are always soft, demure, shy and introverted you should think about maybe why you did that

if you’re still taking drawing reqs — i love the way you draw luo binghe, especially the one sketch where he’s in a hoodie carrying grocery bags. i think about it often. thriving. in his element. the grocery store is his battleground and he can only may i see more of the world’s specialest boy possibly doing mundane tasks 🤲
