Since I finally posted The Chapter yesterday, today I thought I’d post the accompanying art (by the ever-incredible @mr-arainai/ @zenodraws)! Thank you so much, Katharina, for this absolutely beautiful piece, and thank you for being so patient with me!

“I’m lost,” John whispers, knowing full well that Rook will leap on this opportunity to fix, to patch, to support.

Rook draws back slightly, his hands still warm against John’s body. He looks into John’s eyes, the black-brown of his gaze almost warm, almost tender.

“I promise you, John,” he says, sincerely. “You’re not lost, you’re found. You’re not alone. No matter how far you think you’ve fallen, you can get right back up, and I’ll be right here to help you.”

It’s too good an opportunity to pass up. It’s a perfect Hallmark moment.

John leans forward, and presses his lips against Rook’s.

“…Which is what, exactly?”

“I love her.”

My heart is so full of love for these boys 😔❤️

“You need to wash the Bliss off,” John says.

It takes a moment, but Rook nods, leaning heavily against the wall as he tries to toe off his boots and unbutton his shirt at the same time. The boots come off after a few moments, Rook nearly falling sideways. The shirt buttons stay resolutely in place, Rook’s fingers unable to grip properly. It’s pitiful. John steps forward, gently removes Rook’s clumsy fingers so that he can deftly unbutton the shirt.

“Do you remember when you did this for me?” John asks, keeping his eyes on Rook’s face with a herculean effort.

Thank you, @mr-arainai, so much for illustrating this scene from Resistance is Futile for me! 😍 It's perfect beyond words. I always love working with you, and I cannot wait to start work on our zine project! 💕
