i know it was most likely a mistake but i always think about the promotion art they made with espresso as a cookie of darkness. if he had gone crazy with power when making the magic candy, in a story where dark enchantress is already fucking things up, it could’ve created such a great opportunity for the lore to be less focused on the ancients and beasts and stuff for a while. we need more fucked up lore on basic ass characters!!!
