tbh the most unbelievable part of the wire is that julian somehow obtained permission to take a runabout to cardassia to go harass the former head of the obsidian order to save the life of the station’s resident cardassian tailor/probable spy. 

julian: sir I need a runabout immediately

julian: I have to go to sneak into the house of literally the most dangerous person on cardassia to save the life of my lizard boyfriend

I love the idea of the “Crimes” section. “You just took a picture of a random mug.” “Yeah? And?” “We know that’s not Odo.” “Prove it.” “It’s not in Kira’s hands. Or Quark’s.” “Well, it wasn’t at THAT moment.” “Touche.”

what if i wrote a story where deep space nine had a newspaper called DEEP SPACE NEWS and it was part tabloid that gossiped about the ops crew like crazy and part surprisingly hard hitting think-pieces (mostly written by jake) and there was an opinion section except the opinions weren’t about current events or relevant things it was just like “Hupyrian Beetle Snuff’s Aphrodisiac Properties Are Underrated” by Rejig Etore or “I Think We Should Reconsider Our Stance On Sleeping On The Promenade” by Tranor Newat, even during wartime.  there was also a crime section just called CRIMES. the first time they quoted odo and tried to get a picture he shapeshifted away and refused so they just took a photo of the desk. now whenever they get quotes from odo they just put in a photo of whatever object is nearby and everyone just accepts it. at one point they used a candid photo of garak yawning as their cover for three weeks straight with no explanation.
