The shit I went thru to arrive at +30%. What are these gymnastics.

So, prices in the setting (see this) Taking as an example a Maruchan Ramen Beef Flavor 12-pack at Walmart, that's $4. So a 12-pack is 4000 Creds - so that's the price at regular stores. But our favorite pilots have to buy overpriced crap as they can't leave the base. Let's try calculating what markup they could be dealing with. Going off of a Vox article I found, a Sam Adams Summer Ale Draught at LaGuardia’s Terminal C used to cost "$23 to $27" at the time of writing. Going back to our friendly neighborhood capitalist, Walmart, once again, a 12-pack costs $18.73 - so ~1.6 USD/thing. That would put the markup at a nice small +1337.5% at the lowest. Now, we aren't considering an airport here - it's not meant to be a total shakedown. So let's instead say $18.73 is the price of a single beer at Walmart - that puts us at ~+22.8%. Applying an (arbitrary) rounding operation, we get +30% to the price. That means that military base noodles would be 4000 * 1.3 Creds for a 12-pack, so 5200 Creds. And giving an actual delivery from a city a +10% to the price, we get 4400 Creds for the same 12-pack for nepobaby pilots. So the difference is 5200 buying at base / 4400 delivering. If we wanted to push it a bit, we could increase the markup to +40%, resulting in a 5600 / 4400 figure. Nothing like wealth inequality and exploitation under capitalism noodle math.

As your Angel glides through the air, you know Ayre's right. You can't do this yourself. RECONSIDERED, HAVE YOU? "Yes." you give in, bracing for the upcoming sensation. A glitch spreads across your vision, and the next second you're even more machine than you already were. You truly... feel the 'body' of Pathfinder. And being the machine is a strange feeling. On one hand- NICE SHOT THERE, AYRE! "It was calculated." On one hand, it's... restricting. You feel as if you're being puppeteered - hell, that's cause you are. But on the other, truly being the Angel feels so... liberating. Being able to actually feel the air as you glide through it, and the recoil of your weapons... "You should do more training if you want to keep up without me in the future, Hikaru." MAYBE. But one thing you can never get used to is hearing her speak your voice - and vice versa. [END PLAYBACK] [FILE NOTES] The name of Hikaru's NHP appears to be a reference to some old media, though it has not been confirmed. Their combat effectiveness without Ayre is below average - likely stemming from an overreliance on it. Further monitoring required.

Okay, so thingy №1 - A Mechanic's perspective on weird magic stuff happening.

[BEGIN PLAYBACK] You arrange the hangar in preparation for Hikaru and their Pathfinder's return. Soon, the gigantic doors slide open and the titan enters the dock. 236.84 meters of steel and an arsenal big enough to destroy an army - and the pilot is a 19-year-old nervous wreck drugged to hell and back with combat stims. Many would still kill for that life. To soar above the clouds as an Angel of Death, rather than cover in fear... As Pathfinder docks, you extend the bridge and prepare to start the scan once the kid gets out. They might be a pilot, but no one should get sprayed with amounts of radiation overpowering all of Hiroshima a thousand fold each second. As the cockpit slides open, you look down to initiate the scans. ... And now to help the kiddo out. They'll likely crash on the ground unconscious from exhaustion in approximately 2.07 minutes. But as you hurry towards Hikaru, who's shambling away from the mecha like a walking corpse, you notice a few changes. The kiddo's hair, it's... snow-white. And those eyes... there's something almost... inhuman(?) in them. You need to call the medbay, like, yesterday. [END PLAYBACK] next
