“Where’s V?”

“Oh, he had to go to the hospital for emergency surgery.”

There was a knock on the door and surely it wasn’t V. Then dad opened the door.

“Bass, I’m so sorry.” Aunt Sandra came and hugged dad. And then mom walked towards them and hugged Auntie. She was crying in her shoulder.

“Tannya, I’m so sorry, i came as soon as i heard about it.” She wiped mom’s tears.

After that, she saw me and walked towards where i stand. “Come here baby.” She hugged me tightly like she was the one who loss a child. “I love you and Xavier so much.”

Mom and dad sat on the sofa together while me and Auntie sat on the dining table.

“The funeral will be held 3 days from now, wednesday.” Said dad. “The coroner said we can take Xen’s body on tuesday because.” He didn’t finished his sentences.

“Alright i will take care of everything. You just need to sit here. Okay? I gotta go.” Auntie Sand just walked away leaving you and your parents.

Then i joined mom and dad by sitting in the middle of them. “Should we visit Uriel? We haven’t heard anything from him since last night.”

Mom shook her head. “No, he still need his time and let us just leave him alone for today.”

I nodded.

“Should we go to grab some breakfast or coffee?” Dad asked us and me and mom nodded.

I saw mom and dad cried and hugging each other as Xen’s casket was put down on the ground. Uriel and V was holding on to each other. Me? I was just stood alone, I couldn’t shed any tears because my feelings were numb. My family were all here. From mom and dad’s side. Even my cousin Austin was here since he lived in Australia with his wife.

How could you leave me here alone, Xen?

The funeral was over and now all of us are going to home because there was a wake.

“Jet, lets go.” Uriel shouted as i was about to walked the opposite direction.

“I think I’m going to home alone with taxi.”

He sighed. “We all through the same thing, jet. We all lost him. Okay? Talk to me if you need someone to, and don’t ever shut me or V down, okay? We are your brothers and you are our sister. Now lets get to the house together with mom and dad.”

I slowly nodded and followed him to the car.

Hour later we arrived at home. I saw mom and dad were greeted by their friends. Uriel and V were talked with their friends. Me? I was just hiding in the kitchen, hoping people wouldn’t notice me.

But guess what? My cousins were came closer. Not that i hate them, i love them dearly but i just want to be alone.

“Zeezee, I’m so sorry about Vier.” Peyton made the first talk.

“Yeah, we all here for you if you need anything.” Said Froy.

I was only smiled and nodded.

“We mean it, Zee. Talk to us, we are your cousins.” Said Debra. She was one of the cousins i was really close to. I mean i and Peyton were close too, but Debra was closer.

“Thank you all, but i just want to be alone, if you all don’t mind?” I asked them politely and they accepted it by moved away from me.

But not in a minute three people came to me.

“Hey... Zeta." A man made an introduction. "We're Xavier's friend from New York, I'm Franklin, he's Matt and she's Karen."

I smiled.

"We're sorry for your loss," Matt started to talk.  "He was a good friend to us. He helped us tirelessly when we got a hard case. He was an amazing person i have ever met." My eyes was all over Matt when he spoke because he was wearing red glasses. Oh, i knew. He was blind. Xen ever mention about his friends from New York and one of them is blind.

"I know all of you. He told me about you guys several times. You all so lovely to him and I'm thankfull for that. And thank you so much to came." Your tears fell down. You were so touched when Xen was mentioned as an amazing person by his friends.

Then Matt gave me his handkerchief. It was odd but you took it. “Thanks.”

“We’re gonna talk to your parents if you don’t mind. See you around, Zeta.” Said Karen. They waved and you waved back to them. They were so lovely.

So many people mostly i didn’t know saying their deep condolences, and now i walked upstairs to take rest. I passed by his room and decided to opened it. It was so tidy and almost forgot there was a fight in here. I entered and slept on his bed. It was a new sheet. I could still smell his perfume. Then i cried to his pillow. I couldn’t yell his name without him being annoyed again. He was my other half.

But then i realized i still have two brothers that needs to be loved. So i got up, went downstairs and met them.

“Jet,” V noticed me. “What’s going on?”

“Nothing.” I smiled to both of them. “I love you and now i only have you two and our parents.” I hugged them both.

It wasn’t easy for us, Xen.

Right after Valentino came, i rest on mom and dads bedroom. He was with the detectives. I couldn’t sleep, my mind was haunted with footage of your death. I indirectly witnessed my brother’s murder.

You were working a murder case meanwhile you were murdered.

I opened my eyes and looked at wall clock and it’s 6 pm.

“Hey, Xen’s body will be brought to the morgue. And we will stay at mine until mom, dad and Uriel arrived at the airport.” Valentino showed up at the door. I got up and walked outside the bedroom.

I saw a body bag of my brother taken out to the ambulance. That’s my brother. V hugged me from beside and i could hear his cry. We lost our family member.

Police line were everywhere at my house. Neighbors were stood before it and took pictures and videos.

From afar, i saw Cole family waved at us. We nodded and they were walked closer.

“I’m so sorry, Z, V.” James Cole said a condolence. “Where’s Bass and Tamara?”

“They went to New York for event but they were heading back.”

“Just tell us if you need anything. We will be here for you all.” And now Lily Cole the one who talked.

I just nodded and walked away. V drove us to his place while we wait mom, dad and Uriel came.

An hour later we arrived. I was sitting at the couch while he walked to the kitchen. “You want something, jet?”

I just shook my head. He later sat beside me while sipped his coffee.

“Tomorrow we supposed to have a dinner. It’d be incomplete since Xen is now gone.” Our family dinner was ruined by someone who took Xen’s life.

“Our movie night wouldn’t be the same since no one would recommended a good movie.” I said it while wiped out the tears. “He would never drove me again to work.”

“I will now. I will make my time to drive you every morning. Or Uriel will. I promise.” V was so sweet. Xen was the only one who drove me to work since Uriel and V wasn’t available.

“No more Counting Stars singing challenge anymore.”

“No more random coffee from Xen ever again.”

“No more X’s french toast.”

“No more ‘jet jet jet starrrrr’.” We said together and we laughed.

We said everything Xen’s doing in his life that we remembered. It was distracted us from sadness over hours.

But when V’s phone ringing and we realized it was 11.30, pm, my heart turned crushed, again.

“Hey, it’s in 1104 N Mission Rd, how’s mom and dad?” “Alright we’ll see you there.” He hung up the phone and got up. “Lets go, mom and dad were arrived at the airport and we’ll met them at the mourge.

We drove to the place where Xen’s body were placed.

An hour later we arrived. Mom, dad and Uriel were arrived first like 2 minutes. They were already inside the mourge with Det. Bosch and a doctor and we all saw Xen’s body.

“He was shot twice on his abdomen and his forehead. There was a sign of difficulty of breathing, and bruises on his abdomen.” Doctor was explained to all the people including me, and mom and dad were hugging each other.

Not long after, we all went outside and det. Bosch started to asked mom and dad questions. V was with them. And Uriel walked to me and hugged me.

“Hey, you okay?” Asked him. You only shooked your head and cried into his chest. “It’s okay jet, just let it out. I’m so sorry you had to through all of this.” He stroked my hair and i cried harder. “I love you, okay?”

I pulled out the hugged and he wiped my tears. “I manage to get you a keychain.” You took it and cried again. Uriel was really sweet and cared. He looked so tough but i know he was so hurt to lost a brother.

“King, now it’s your turn.” V called him and he went approaching det. Bosch.

I saw mom and dad walked towards me and i hugged them immediately.

“Baby, I’m so sorry, how you doing now honey?” Asked mom. I just shooked my head and let the tears feel down again.

“I’m glad you were okay, honey.” He kissed your hair.

“I’m so sorry for you too, mom, dad.”

Dad was nooded “Alright, lets wait them inside our car, shall we?”

“Alright, kids. This your home. You know where it is okay? You can do whatever you want but not throwing a party okay? Okay. Here lemme hug you.” Mom hugged me first, then dad and Uriel. And when my mom hugged Xen, she hugged him longer.

“Xavier Xenophon, I’m so proud of you are today. You helped people who really need help. And you’re gonna take your day off, go to sleep all day, and do whatever you’re going to do today. Okay. I love you.” She kissed his cheeked. I was kinda envy but my parents loves for us was equal. Hmm maybe mom just missed him because Xen was several times absent from our regular sunday dinner.

“Looked, mom with her favorite son.” Uriel poked my arm.

You furrowed your eyebrows. “You are mom’s favorite son. You are dad’s favorite son. We all knew that, king.” “But have fun in New York, and bring me a keychain, okay?”

He nodded and hugged me again.

Then three of them drove away to the airport because their flight at 10 am and leaving us two.

“Alright. I’m just gonna lay down and sleep. Okay? See you at noon?” I nodded and watched him going upstairs to his room.

I decided to make breakfast since Xen already took his.

Hours later, at 12 pm, i was get ready to the mall since i need new makeup and clothes. I knocked his door and opened it.

“Hmm?” He rubbed his left eye.

“I’m going to the mall, are you in or are you in?” I asked him excitedly. Despite he still sleepy.

He shook his head. “Nah, I’m still tired.”

I frowned. “So you’re gonna let me drive alone?” Then i sighed.

“What if i take you out tonight to a fancy dinner? And you let me continue to sleep until this afternoon?” What a best offer!

“Yes! See you later Xen.” I walked to the car happily because your brother really knew you so well.

It’s 2 pm and i parked Xen’s car. I turned off the car and get out from the car. I strangely notice the front door was opened widely. The last time i remembered, i closed and locked the door. Was it Xen? But he must be sleeping right now. I held the multiple paper bag and slowly walked to the opened door. Something wasn’t right. I walked inside and saw a trace of blood near staircase. I dropped the paper bags and called 911.

“911, what’s the emergency?”

“Hello, i just got back from mall, and my front door was widely opened and i saw a trace of blood near staircase like drop of bloods I’m scared something bad might happed please sent someone here.”

“Alright, police is on their way. Stay where you are, don’t go inside.”

I didn’t listen to her and walked inside followed the blood. It lead me to the backyard and i stopped for a moment. I held your phone tight and continued to walked to the backyard. I was freezing because i saw someone float on the pool and the water turned red. Omg, this person had to be die. The person was wearing black t shirt, black short, short hair, i came closer to saw who’s the guy who died in my pool. I fall down to my knees when i saw Xen’s face. I cried out loud and called Valentino.

“Hi jet, what’s up? I was about to call you because-” He answered my called

I couldn’t stop tears. “Xen.”

“Zeta Yvonne, what happened? What happened to Xavier?” He sounded so worry

“Xen died.” Phone fell from my hand as i said Xen was dead.

I saw a hole in his forehead. He was shot? I went to the water to save him. Wait, he couldn’t be save because he was dead. I pulled him out of the water hardly and when j succeeded, i hugged him while crying.

But then my body was pulled by someone. The cops. I went inside with a cop, and the rest was handling him.

She gave me towel and i sat with her. I was stay silent while my tears kept falling down from my eyes.

“Excuse me, miss, can i know your name?”

“Z… ze… zeta.” I hardly could speak but i tried to cooperate as i could.

“Okay miss Xander, can you tell me what happened?” Another cop gave ma a cup of tea and i took it.

I sipped the tea then talked to the cop. “I was just… went home from mall, and i saw my… door opened widely and i saw blood and i called 911,” you were sobbing. “And i followed the blood and it went to the backyard and… i can’t.” You cried out loud.

“I’m so sorry for your loss, Zeta.” She left you alone at the sofa near the pool and you could saw Xen’s body was covered in sheets.

Long after, two men came to me as my emotion was getting better.

“Excuse me, miss Xander, I’m detective Bosch and this is Detective Edgar.” I was only nodded when he and his partner sat across me.

“I’m so sorry for your lost, but we have to asked you and you need to answer it specifically.” Said detective Bosch. I nodded slowly.

“This is your parents house right? Where are they right now?”

“They were on their way to New York to the real estate event with my brother.”

“Okay, so you were only with your brother in this house?” Asked detective Edgar.

You nodded. “Valentino was in San Francisco for doctor seminar since friday.”

“Valentino?” Asked det. Edgar again?

“Her second brother, she has 3 brothers, this is the third brother.” Det. Bosch explained. My tears fell down again when he mentioned Xen.

“Please tell us the chronologically.”

“After my parents and Uriel left, Xen… Xavier was sleeping while i just watching tv here, until 12 pm when i decided to go to the mall and he stayed at home. At 2pm i arrived at home and saw the door was opened and i walked inside and i saw blood and i called 911. After that i followed the blood to the backyard and i saw a body was floating on the pool.” You were crying again. “I came closer i saw it was Xen. I called Valentino and i noticed his forehad was bleeding and there was a hole and that’s when i went to the pool to help him… to pulled him out.”

“Can i check the cctv?”

“What ever you need, detective.” I walked to the monitor room below the staircase and the detectives and 2 cops followed me. They watched the footage alongside with me and it showed a man were kicked the door until it opened not long after i left house and went upstairs to the Xen’s bedroom and there was a gun shot, then Xen rushed downstairs while held his stomach and blood fell down to the floor. He walked outside and the man followed and he shot Xen when he walked on the edge of the pool and he fell to the water. That’s what happened.

I went back to the sofa with the detectives after watched the horrible footage. You were sobbing and they couldn’t do anything.

“Was your brother ever told you about his work?” Det. Bosch asked.

You shooked your head. “He worked on a murder case and he was so busy until last night.”

“Zeta! Xavier!” Someone outside were yelling my name and i knew it was Valentino’s voice.

I looked back and saw him ran inside to find me and i ran to him and cried in his shoulder.

“Where’s Xen?” He asked me while crying and i pointed to the backyard.

Mom just invited me to a video call group with Xen. I accepted it and saw mom, dad and Xen’s faces.

“Hi kids, what are you two doing?” Asked mom.

“I’m still doing paperworks for monday,” said Xen. He looked so exhausted but it’s his job anyway. “What about you, jet?” He asked me.

“I’m heading to sleep. By the way how my lovely parents doing?”

Dad laughed. “That’s very sweet of you, we’re doing good. Mom just finished packing for tomorrow.”

Oh, they going.

“Yeah, we’re going to New York for real estate’s event. Uriel is coming with us. Because he’s been a good employee.” Mom looked so proud when he mentioned Uriel. She loves him so much and i think he’s her favorite son. But I’m not jealous. “And since the house is going to be empty, i want to invite you two to stay here until sunday? What about that? Oh and V is in San Francisco right now and it would be just two of you.”

It sounded so great, weekend at home, without no interruptions from neighbors. “I’m in! Xen?”

“Sure. I’ll pick you up.”

“Alright kids. See you tomorrow at 7. We’re leaving at 8. Bye bye.”
