Soooo

It's been a while. Bad news? It doesn't seem like I'll be returning to the rpc soon. Lots of stuff has been going on during the past weeks and I'm not sure when everything will go back to 'normal'. The hospital issue seems to have calmed down a bit, but there are other reasons I'm not in a good place mentally and I can't entirely find the motivation for rping. I am engaging in other hobbies, though! So don't worry too much about that.

Basically, this means I'm putting this blog on an indefinite hiatus. Now, I know I wasn't like super close to anyone here, but I still cherish the little friendships I made, so I'd like to know who would like to stay in contact! Not only on an ooc level, but on a personal one? So either if you already have my discord or would like to, like this post! Just so I know I can reach out to you even if there's no plotting involved. I also have a twitter! I post mostly in Spanish there, but it's the best place to get a closer look at my current interests.

Donald had said his own words of praise too, but for now he’d keep them to himself. He didn’t know how Riku felt about him. After all, he did know some of the discourse between Sora and Riku was because Riku thought he had been replaced with Donald and Goofy. Plus, the last time Donald had worked this closely with Riku, it was when he and Goofy followed him because he took Sora’s keyblade. Donald was not proud of that moment, even if he was just following orders.

“It was. It was nice to go adventuring again.” He admitted.

“It’s cute! You were just kids after all!” Everyone forgot that their chosen heroes were just children when they had to pick up their blades. Even Donald sometimes forgot that, given how mature those children were forced to act. “Though I worry thinking about how a raft would fare in the open ocean.” 

"Not... that well, probably,” calling what happened before they could set off fortunate wouldn’t feel right, even if having their world consumed by the darkness had turned out to be a less certain death than setting sail on a raft could have been. Maybe they would have realized how it wasn’t a great idea at some point soon after leaving, or maybe not. At this point, they’d never know for sure. “Even for a raft, it wasn’t exactly a masterpiece. Let’s just say gummi ships are much more convenient.”

Speaking of which, they had arrived to their first destination, and somehow Riku seemed to have been able to avoid the seemingly inevitable awkward silence he had been expecting (and fearing). Turns out that the duck had a way to make feel comfortable, after all. Maybe his younger self was even more wrong than he had thought.

“It’s... a little more cramped than what you’re used to,” Riku commented, in a bit of an apologetic tone. Wide enough to hold a single chair for the pilot, and long enough for a second one right behind it. He let the duck go in first. “But that shouldn’t be a problem for a seasoned adventurer,” he added playfully, daring to test the waters a little further.

His eyes widen in surprise. A real apology? Even when Axel tried to apologize, he couldn’t stop himself from yelling and crying. Roxas couldn’t blame him for that, considering everything, but this…?

Well. He didn’t suppose he could stay mad at someone he barely knew. Many strange things were happening today. “…I forgive you,” he mumbled. As much as ‘I didn’t mean to’ was a shitty thing to say, he believed him. If Axel had been worthy of a keyblade back then, he would’ve had one. The fact that he can wield one now is a testament to how far he’d come.

“Really? Really?!” Their eyes opened wide, so full of joy and excitement all of a sudden, as they stood up again, grabbing Roxas’ hands and holding them tight between their own.

Well, that was easy! Humans in general (even their own master) seemed so bothered by apologizing to others, and they didn’t quite understand why. But then again, Flame’s own pride was vastly different from that of a human. Lying, pretending or holding their feelings back for whatever reason seemed inconvenient, and unnecessary. Their chest felt lighter, and they were no longer upset! And that’s all that mattered.

Xion stumbled, blade edge skirting off Riku’s and her balance falling beneath her. It’d been hours since it struck her as clear as a bell chime. And the memory, found its way home after years lost, burned into her chest like a blaze. The tears that spilled down her cheeks were a pitiful effort to put it out. 

Her hands curled against cobblestone, voiceless frustration on her lips– “Fake.”

She whirled, feet catching underneath her, blade point lifting for his throat. 

“What about now, Riku?! Am I still a sham?!”

The master swallowed hard. While he kept a steady grip on his keyblade, it was still noticeable, from up close, the slight trembling of his hands. He took a step back, not attempting a retreat (or an attack), but trying to put a little distance between them, slowly, weapon ready in case she decided to strike.

“No,” he murmured. He would have wanted his voice to sound clearer, louder. Less as an excuse, more as a heartfelt apology. But his mouth felt dry, and his eyes wouldn’t dare to look up and face hers.

It had been easier back then, when he just stared at Sora’s eyes, and his heart could tell it was but an impostor. A doll. A parasite. A replica.

“I was wrong.”

“They were never your friends, boy! All a web of lies!” Ironic the Heartless was calling something a web of lies when he had spun plenty of them himself, mainly when he was possessing him. “Are you that blind you cannot see the truth even when it’s right in front of you?!”

They were face to face, almost in arms reach again. How he loathed the child for resisting the power for so long, one he had given him, but in another way he admired him. Almost like how he had been before the others turned traitorous. Now was not time to dwell on the past.

“They reached out to me when I least deserved it, and never stopped believing that I’d make my way back. But how would you know about that, when you know nothing of love or friendship?”

He had learned (the hard way) not to make harmful remarks about other’s state of existence, but for Ansem he’d gladly make an exception.

“And you will never know,” he scoffed quietly. “You’re only a heartless, after all."
