Long Train Ride with a Telepath
“Wait, h-have we met before?” Henry Fourthfellow nervously whispers to someone in front of him while his eyes dart around the train carriage.
The person clears her throat and softly shakes her head causing the elaborate veiled red hat to shiver slightly. Right then a tiny cherry lipped smile is slowly revealed when she closes an eloquently decorated hand fan.
“Sorry Henry, I just couldn’t help myself. I needed to shut out the nervousness you have been emanating since you sat down. It’s overwhelmingly distracting so I’ve decided help you, help me, get my peace and quiet again.” a female voice speaks through the overly large hat veil.
Henry is stunned but not simply because he just heard the most angelic voice he has ever encountered but by the fact that this woman seems to have knowledge about him that he has never repeated to anyone but his employer.
She shrugs.
“Look, I’d want this interaction to end as much as you do so let me cut to the point. I can hear people’s thoughts and for some reason yours is the loudest and it’s utterly stressful. We’re going to be on this train for quite a while so just listen.” the woman instructs Henry while she waves the folded hand fan in front of him drawing clockwise circles in the air.
“Oh really? Then what do I wear tomor-” Henry asks mockingly.
The woman instantly slaps his head with the fan and frustratingly retorts “I hear people’s thoughts not predict their future. You dunce!”
Henry rubs his face in pain and mumbles to himself.
“This is definitely going to be a long ride.” she exhales.
