Heres the next TOHO kaiju Monster Hunter redesign featuring Biollante and boy was this one a challenge. So far the most tedious design for what I had in mind, along with the icon to work. I am very happy that it turned out better than I thought, will be a challenge if I ever draw her again.

Biollante

"It's said that a vengeful spirit of a woman embodies the very monster itself. Bearing the skulls of defeated or dead monsters to bring upon its wrath to all. Roaming the forest with lethal and unstoppable power"...

Background:

Biollante is a curious and unexpected case that appeared out of nowhere during an investigation in the Scarlet Forest. From looking into its history after it appeared, there was only one that hailed a tale for the monster. Other information is unknown, and coincidentally it appeared as certain monsters began to stir up in the Scarlet Forest.

In the tale it was told, “In a valley of nature, flowers blossomed, the trees swayed with the wind, the smell of air felt such freedom. A woman, who lived in a humble village in her abode, with her father. Was suddenly all lost, a dragon of such power decimated the village from thunderous ruin”.

“In the end the woman had lost what she held dear most, and swore vengeance on the very monster that destroyed her home. As she passed, a monster was born from her vengeful soul, a wrathful incarnate from nature, a beast of plant and thorns, nature's beast was born…”. A sad tale, but true nonetheless to now, the monster roams, known as Biollante.

Behavior/Ecology:

Based on the first encounter we had with Biollante, they seem territorial at most, sometimes being aggressive in certain weather conditions. It adds to it being omnivorous, but prefers to eat meat more often than eating plants. The way it hunts is unique for a cephalopod, swinging from trees to hunt its prey, and then launching towards them.

It has other hunting methods depending on the monster or area around, for example somewhat of a camouflage it uses to hide. A unique method, using the skulls it has on four of its limbs, as distractions for any monster looking for scraps of meat. Fascinatingly it uses a sap like residue to attach skulls of dead monsters to its limbs, hardening to ensure it never detaches. 

When it comes to other monsters it will more than likely attack them if they get too close. Very aggressive towards Uth Duna, as on its head, it has a skull of one, possibly a very large one that once lived. On occurrence when it happens it will act the same way towards Gojira albeit more defensively.

Biology/Abilities:

At the end of its six tentacles, it has a hidden claw on each of them, that it can sheathe or un-sheate. When using them to attack, they can poison their target if they hit, if hit multiple times the poison can become severe. It also uses them to traverse around, even using them to swing around the forest.

Biollantes head is very unique for a cephalopod, due to the rose like petal scales on it, and where the poison is stored. When attacking from distance it can spew a corrosive acid that makes armor less effective at defending from its attacks. Like Nu Udra, it can grab a hunter and spray poison out from its siphons, making it severe if the hunter has not cured themselves of it.

The most fascinating part of Biollante is the skulls of dead monsters it uses as armor and weapons. The four limbs that have them can use them like hammers to bash down on anything, or swing at attackers. It uses the sap that holds them to also use them as puppets, controlling the jaws of them to bite at attackers. 

Lastly the main big skull it has can be used the same way, but delivers a more devastating bite force due to the size. The sap itself also acts as armor.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

Biollante is completely immune to poison, paralysis, and sleep. Fire, and blast are the most effective elements to use against it, even stunning it advised. Water will not do anything, thunder, dragon, and Ice will work with minor effects against it.

The claws it has and the skulls it possess make the arms the most dangerous tools it has. Breaking the skulls and sap first is a priority when facing it, once all four are broken, the claws are left open. Breaking or severing the claws on its six limbs can cause the poison to be less effective and severely weaken its attacks with its limbs.

The same process with the head being armored by the skull and sap, along with its chest area. Breaking the skull and sap weaken its defense, which then breaking the head can severely weaken the poison used. This also causes its corrosive acid spew to be less effective as well.

Other Info:

During the season of fallow, if Uth Duna is not present or any other apex monster, it will act more calmly during the night. It's been seen around areas with flowers in abundance. Preferring to be alone and is seen gazing at the stars.

While it has the rose on its head and spikes around its arms, it more so uses them for intimidation when being confronted. The rose on it actually dies out like a plant when a Biollante passes, the large petals then begin to fall. Weirdly the petals seem valuable for their size and the red color from them.

Tempered Biollante variants have stronger armor and more lethal poisons, with deadlier acid to spew. They’re fought by the most elite and well prepared hunters. Even then, they still match against any monster they fight tempered or not.

After some time I finally finished another TOHO Monster Hunter design, featuring Mothra. Mothra was tedious to do with the wings, since I wanted to make a pattern that fits with Wilds. I might make a full wing ref in case I need to adjust the patterns at some point.

Mosura:

Beauty, Grace, and Hope define this neopteron, shining through the heavens as a beacon of Inspiration. Hailing from the Scarlet Forest, a giant moth that brings the light amongst the forest. In legends of old, she is considered a goddess of rebirth.

Background:

The only information that was known were old legends of Mosura. These legends told of a moth that was the goddess of rebirth, that shined bright from the heavens as a beacon of hope. Forever protecting the sacred life of the world and the people as a guardian.

However the first encounter was when Gojira was seen roaming the Scarlet Forest, protective of the area around. Erik wandered off too far when Gojira was heard and encountered Mosura by accident. While most monsters would become defensive or aggressive when encountered unexpectedly, Mosura was scared but curious.

She was a caterpillar at that point which surprised Erik more when it showed curiosity when he slowly approached it to feed it. However with all things going smoothly it wasn’t until Gojira came back and attacked Erik, which led to the hunter to repel Gojira. Sometime later when many events upfolded, she would emerge fully grown, aid us in what we were facing.

Behavior/Ecology

Mosura are docile and will not attack any monster or hunter unless provoked and will become very defensive when fighting. They are seen drinking nectar from very large flowers, sap and even from the fruits around, making them herbivorous. When in their larval stage they feed on plants, giant leaves, and fruits, however they do eat very much, which can be a problem sometimes.

Unique to discovery, Mosura and Lala Barina are the only two monsters that will interact with each other through body movements as communication. The only monster she has a biological relationship with is Gojira, due to their shared roles as guardians of the ecosystem. When it comes to Uth Duna, she prefers to veer away from it, only to fight if provoked.

Biology/Abilities

Their wing patterns are intricate and shine under the sunlight and moonlight if light is visible. Noticeably their large wings have an eye at the very edge of them, which could be used as intimidation if they feel danger. At night their very bodies glow from their wings and eyes from bioluminescent light from chemicals around their body.

They can use their wings as a powerful flash attack to blind attackers, their wings have another use but more unique. Their wings have scales coated in a powdered substance that can be used to deflect ranged attacks from monsters and hunters. Her wings can also be used to push away monsters and hunters, by flapping them very fast they propel hunters away from the ground or air.

Underneath their abdomen and from their mouths they can spew silk webbing to entrap hunters and monsters as an offensive ability. This very silk is used when they begin their metamorphosis from larval stage to adult. They somehow retain their silk ability even as they grow, which normally moths don’t.

Under their forelimbs they have two spikes that can be used offensively to poison hunters or monsters. Alternatively if they are flying they have a spike hidden in their abdomen as well that poison hunters or paralyze them. The abdomen spike is sharper and tougher, which can pierce even the toughest armor from monsters and hunters.

Strengths/Weaknesses

The preferred elements/ailments to use against them are fire, dragon, stun, and blast, with thunder and ice only doing minor help to it. Poison, paralysis, and water do not affect it, with sleep barely affecting it at all. Flash pods do not work, and are advised to not be used, as she can use hunters' own flash pods against them with their wings.

Mosura are highly capable fliers that use their wings to their full advantage, but are also maneuverable from the ground. Breaking their wings can severely weaken their flight capabilities and the flash from the wings. The scales also become less effective as well, which can be very beneficial for ranged attackers.

They are fast when attacking from the ground, but will focus attacking from a distance, spewing silk webbing and only use their claws when attacking close. To keep in mind with poison they have, breaking their forelimbs can weaken the poison and their spike attack. Their abdomen which is the toughest to the break can severely weaken the poison, to the point where it can’t be used sometimes.

Lastly for short, breaking the head and abdomen can cause the silk webbing to be less effective.

Other Info:

The only other monster that Mosura interacts with other than Lala Barina is a temnoceran that lives in the same region, seen with striking yellow stripes. The only neopteron Mosura despises is a large mantis neopteron, which both engage in a turf war if they meet. Another monster she despises is a large fire bird wyvern, it's been said that those two monsters are rivals to each other.

A tempered variant of Mosura are quite rare, however they more so prefer to attack at closing distance from afar. They still remain neutral despite being tempered, even in the presence of an apex. Strangely their bodies both in tempered and normal glow a different color depending on their mood.

There has been recent news that Mosura is related to another neopteron, one that is black and yellow, with red eyes. It could be said to be a species variant, but sightings have shown that it's an entirely new monster. It's also been said that those two are related, but are indifferent to each other.

After a taking a break from doing TLOS Skylander designs, I wanted to get back into doing it again for fun. At first I wasn't sure about Chop Chop, but I figured a way, and man he translated way too well. I already love this redesign I did for him.

Short Story Context:

Chop Chop was once a servant of the Ice King, before Malefor turned the trolls into undead soldiers to server him. He's an honor bound warrior who sought vengeance for his desecration, and thus left Dantes Freezer. Dawning an armor from black and red, to blue and yellow.

Forever restless seeking vengeance.

After a while I finally decided to make a new ref for my Dragon/Kaijusona. Since I've neglected my own sona and haven't don't anything with them, which is something I wanna change. I am very happy how his new ref, design and colors turned out.

I wanted to combine all the previous designs I did while making a few changes to it. I also wanted to fully embrace the dragon theme I have for him while still giving it a kaiju theme to mix in. It makes me proud of how much I have changed over the years and how much my art have evolved.

Short Summary of the character:

"Zilon is a titanic draconic titan, that has evolved since the prehistoric times into what he is now. Attaining a gigantic pair of wings over the years as he evolved. Gaining new height and power as he changed, becoming known as the "Titan of Thunderous Fire" in legends".

"Preferring a nomadic lone life and residing in volcanic regions, venturing forth when it decides too. He is best recognized by the golden colored horns and wing patterns that define his appearance. His element powers also make him formidable as a dragon titan".

"Wielding the elements of Fire and Thunder, and even combing the two for powerful blasts. Sometimes amplifying his strikes with the elemental powers he has. His body and spikes glow a yellowish orange when charging".

"His known size is to be 105.78 meters (347ft), while his wing size and length is yet to be determined. A slim yet long body with somewhat hollow bones to allow it to fly. It is also facultative bipedal, depending on the situation.

So, I got around to doing something that was experimental for me to try, and man I love it already. Was trying to for something metaphorical with this in mind to the best I could do. Which this would make this a little TLOS angst artwork, since I have been wanting to do something for a while.
