Various pages from Parterre Box [1993-2001], a queer opera newsletter/blog created by director James Jorden. Campy and critical opeds and interviews on operas and their singers. A summary quote in most issues: “Parterre Box is a about remembering when opera was queer and dangerous and exciting and making it that way again.” Content shifted digitally after the ceasing of this bimonthly zine, into an online blog and then a podcast.
All issue pdfs are on parterre.com

not a zine but still musical ephemera on paper: a “newspaper sleeve” for PiL’s “Public Image” single [1978]. Later pressings were issued in a normal sleeve, but early ones had this tabloid parody sheet, with misspellings and nonsense stories.

I think I’ve posted about Terrapin [1972-76] before, but I always liked its design. Just has that classic fanzine “spirit” I guess of loving a topic that is impenetrable but run by very dedicated fans. Scrappings of news and mail-submissions/thoughts from the public. Psychedelic marker swirlies and drawings. And—most importantly—multiple crosswords!
You can read their 18 issues on pink-floyd.org

Ok, I must share more images of Dry [3rd issue]. This is hands down my favorite zine. It’s everything I think a zine should be: maximalist, abstract, a little raunchy, it’s weird, at times its hard to read and almost completely illegible. But its damn beautiful. It’s fucking crazy. And you can read all 412 pages of it on Circulation Zero

Covers of Amra [1959-1982] a fantasy fanzine.
“Amra’s a major ‘zine in the 1960s that was responsible for getting people more interested in fantasy rather than just science fiction. It came out around the time that J.R.R. Tolkien’s books were being introduced in America, and people were getting interested in sword and sorcery” —Robert Latham

Front and back covers of issues of Yeah! [1961-1965] a leftist zine by Tuli Kupferberg.
“YEAH magazine began under the shadow of the Cold War, with Kupferberg and fellow poets contributing poetry, drawings, and collages that protested a number of social issues of the time, including nuclear war, racism, white supremacy, and the conservative, middle-class values that have become the hallmark of 1950s America.”
