Been on a childhood book and cartoon nostalgia bender the past few days after I stumbled across the entire Deltora Quest show uploaded to YouTube and realizing that series was a very formative piece of media for me. This has cascaded into being reminded of tons of other childhood shows that I’d all but forgotten about like Secret Saturdays, Chaotic, Super Robot Monkey Team, Megas XLR, Cubix, Hero 108, Yin Yang Yo, Code Lyoko (essentially the entire Jetex line up), and the ones that I never forgot Dinosaur King and for some reason Chop Socky Chooks

As for the books, it’s mainly the Deltora Quest nostalgia and the first two Tunnels books which always stuck with because their cover art was so striking. I’ve had a misremembered version of a rhyme from Deltora Quest in my head for over a decade at this point, “here comes the dread-ed Ich-a-bod,” as an idle thought that’d come up since I read it when I was like 8. I only checked what it just now. The main thing I remember about Tunnels was having to reread passages constantly because it was too hard for me when as I tried to read it in like Third grade.

It’s always interesting to look back like this, and see what things stuck with me, how they influenced my tastes and what didn’t stick at all. Last time I had one of these it was mostly music based (with some romance shows too) and I ended up listening to a lot of English covers of vocaloid songs from 2013-2016, and that was very affirming to the spirit. I still liked them honestly and I firmly believe that they kept me humble.

Watched the PM livestream that apparently happened this morning. Obvious hype about magical girl Don (calling my shot on Rodya getting Knight of Despair ID, and I can pray for a King of agreed one too) aside. I’m glad to see that these things remain weird as hell and at least a little scuffed.

I find the levels of openness so fascinating and strange. Like Canto 9 is supposed to be out by the end of the year, so we’re canceling one of the intervallos and refraction railway. However if we think we aren’t gonna make it by the end of the year anyway we’re gonna actually do those things instead. It’s idiosyncrasies like this I find so interesting as someone who has no corporate experience. Regardless the confirmed intervallo being a training arc and princess lessons for Sinclair is very funny. Sinclair’s Thumb ID being a 3 star is still weird, it’s so 2 star coded.

That aside, it’s actually crazy how much of a stranglehold Kim Ji Hoon has on me man. He says anything and I clap like a fucking seal and say “another dubby for the glorious director.” I see Roland in the cafe preview, I soypog, he shows the reddit memes of himself, I soypog again and laugh my ass off, I see the Black Silence gloves for sale, I consider spending an ungodly amount of money like on the hoodie, offhanded mention of offering ~$100,000 mortgage loans for employees, I say what the fuck so based. He’s such an interesting little critter bro, I have so much affection for this CEO, that’s what’s got me fucked up

Man Nightreign has been such a good time, been clowning on it with my friends which has been great. Haven’t had a multiplayer game to play with people in a while and it’s so refreshing. I can appreciate its philosophy of run as fast as you can at all times and launch yourself with your whole being at anything you come across. Ive beaten every boss and I never expected my true goat fights to be two bugs and madness deal or no deal.

I’ve been maining Recluse and Wylder. Recluse because I love the staff casino to see if I find a decent spell for the boss plus she hits neuron. However, nothing has topped the high of grapple hooking onto a boss as Wylder then hitting them with the Pilebunker. It always makes me giggle like a toddler, it’s so good

Brother got a 3d printer. Guess I’m learning how to 3D model now. This is my cross to bear (cool new skill) as someone interested in tabletop games and cosplay.

I know the Rome guy lives inside me, and I just pray I won’t become the 3d printer equivalent of a Rome guy. “Oh there’s an STL for that,” ass motherfucker.

Last week the boys and I had a presentation night and I did mine on 100 Girlfriends. It was a ton of fun but I feel like I could’ve locked in and done much better on explaining myself. Like stuff with my Kamasutra tangent or my belief there is a place for a Trans-taro agenda. Not having control of the slides like I expected didnt help but it was fun and that matters more than anything

Highly recommend doing presentation nights they rip so hard it’s awesome!

I haven’t quite been rotting since I hit the government layoffs, but I haven’t been doing as much as I should be. I think my goal for this week will be to plan out how I want to do my next cosplay. As much as I’d like to call it a personal desire to accomplish something with my time, it was inspired by seeing a pretty cosplayer and going “I’ve gotta lock in!”

I’m thinking Philip from hit video game Library of Ruina will be the play. He isn’t my favorite character (Roland my beloved) but it’s avenue to learn more skills for cosplay. I enjoyed making my Dante cosplay but I want to do something more complex. Cosplay is cool and I’m using it as an excuse to diversify my skillset by learning things like how to sew and make weapons and armor for this since I think that’s super cool.

Finally hit 20,000 lunacy! Right at the end of Hell's Chicken too which is a good spot for the moment. Still have no idea what I'm supposed to do with the stuff, but so far we're rocking on!

Canto 8 Spoilers

So far I'm on Node 8-29 of Canto 8 and I like this canto a hell of a lot more than I thought I would as a whole. That being stated Part 3 has had 4 of its ~10 nodes be what I would classify as filler fights (I consider that to be just fights and fights with a minor dialogue exchange with some faceless bums), and one more rides the line close. At least on a mission numbers front this is the shortest since Canto 3 and to end it with roughly half of its part 3 feeling like filler fights is rough.

Forget Hong Lu, if there's not a second dungeon I may crash out.

Edit for 8-30: Hype moments and aura overcome all criticism! The new resonance power is honestly so fucking cool and I am a slut for a DMC Nero sword.

Edit 2: Damn that fight is hard. Its late, so Im going to bed and will finish the Canto tomorrow

Edit 3: Once I learned to block on his big skill turn with everyone who isn’t the main target bro got washed instantly

My favorite genre of image is innocuous photos of cosplayers in public. Its so good

people cosplaying on public transit are the backbone of our society and i am SO serious. there is no greater omen of good fortune than seeing hatsune miku on the bus.
