The Brilliance of Martin Luther King
This man was truly something special. He really was. His morals and abilities as a Speaker were both fenomenal and almost without equal. I think I can say with confidence that the vast majority of you who ever get to read this post have heard his famous and powerful 'I have a dream' speech. And it is not something we, as human beings (american or not), should ever forget. Despite my somewhat conservative views, I agree with everything he had to say. A person should not be judged by the color of their skin, nor their gender or sexual orientation. They should be judged by what choices they make, by everything constitutes their character. What matters to me the most is the latter part, as I personally think it's something we need more of. Instead of looking for "white privelige" in someone, judge a person based on what they do, rather than what they look like. If there's anything I want in terms of equality, it's equality in front of the law. Qnd right now, saying that everyone is equal in the court of law, is a boldfaced lie. Women get much more lenient punishments than men for commiting the same crimes. It's even been confirmed by a judge in britain that, as a judge, they have orders to give women more lenient punishments. (Source: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1311004/Judges-ordered-mercy-women-criminals-deciding-sentences.html) Let's not forget the stuff about Child Custody, Child Support and Alimony taxes. Heavily biased towards women. A study made by Timothy Grall issued in january 2016 showed that 1 out of every 6 custodial parents were fathers. That's a 17.5 Percent ratio. Unforgivably low. A little less than half of all the Custodial parents within the timeframe of the study had some form of child support arrangement made. 52.3 percent of those were mothers and 31.4 percent of them were fathers. Keep in mind that the timeframe for this is all of 2013. While I do agree with the sentiment that Mothers are more capable of raising a child than fathers generally are, having an 83.5 percent child custody rating is a bit unfair. I can see it being fairer if the numbers were in the 60's range for mothers, and in the 40's range for the fathers. In an ideal world, we'd let the child decide. While Child Support taxes do serve a good purpose, I think it should be based on the income of both parents separately. If the custodian can care for the child without the need of child support, then there's no need for the other to pay for it. Simple as that. Oh, and if the custodian gets together with someone else, the child support taxes should cease coming too. But we all know they won't. Because Feminism only fights for equality when it's convenient for them. Am I right?

Protection of the Accused
When it comes to the news media circle, I am all in favor of restricting some of it by law... for the sake of protecting the Identity of someone accused of a Crime (and not yet proven innocent or guilty of said crime). Why? In the most severe of accusations or allegations like Rape or Murder (moreso the former rather than the latter), just being hit with one can ruin lives. Why? Because news media outlets gobble those up. People seem to forget the "Innocent until proven guilty" principle of most court systems in modern society. Protecting the Identity of the accused will minimize the damage caused by said accusation. I'm not sure how severe of a crime it would be, but judging by the Rolling Stones incident, I'd imagine it's a pretty big offense. Just being accused of a crime should not by itself be a punishment, and many innocents may not even completely recover from this. Being accused of rape is a losing situation, regardless of what the outcome is. If you're proven guilty, whoopie, you get X amount of years in prison (or in most cases a lifetime's worth). If you're innocent, you still get shit from society and your social circle while the accuser gets away with only a fraction of the punishment you would've recieved if proven guilty. To give you something to compare to, back in 2014, there was a pretty big false rape accusation case going on in sweden. The whole "rape" investigation process took over two years to go over. The accused got shunned by everyone he knew. Friends, Family, workmates and he even lost his job. Had it not been for the fact that he had recordings of his accuser giving him the consent to sex, he would've spent 6-10 years in swedish prison. Luckily, he didn't have to sit any jailtime... but by then, the damage had already been done. The Accuser wad given a few FINES! 15000 Krona going to the man, and she had to pay a total of a 3500 Krona day fine (a fine you pay off day by day.) That's about... the average, if not a little higher than, the swedish monthly salary ($1850 total for you americans out there) put together for someone her age (being 20 years old). Of course... she got no jail time to speak of. None whatsoever. He didn't have to go through any of that bullshit had people actually listened to him and treated him as innocent until proven otherwise. I want higher secrecy regarding these kinds of affairs for the protection of the accused... because being punished for not doing anything wrong is horrible and is EXACTLY why we need court systems to begin with. Stop treating accusers of rape as crimminals until they're proven otherwise. That'd just make things all the better. Must I record my girlfriend in secret when asking for consent as a security measure? It really shouldn't be. But it's a necessity now.

Evergreen Insanity
First and foremost: My thoughts go out to all the Students At Evergreen State College that just went there to Study, grow and learn. I'm truly sorry for the chaos that has transpired there over the last few weeks. It's quite despicable how people are behaving at this institution of Knowledge. I support Bret Weinstein. The Day of Absence was a bad idea. Forcing students to stay away from the institution of knowledge they started studying at based soley on the color of their skin or race is an absolutely abhorrent idea. Had it been a voluntary thing, then I would happily accept it, but no. It's forced. Racial segregation at it's finest. Sure, it was only for a single day, but people had work to do and classes to go to regardless. I understand precisely why Bret opposed this idea in the first place. Looking at the history of his race, Bret being Jewish, it's quite easy to see why he took offense to the very idea of forcing white people off of campus. And the Situation only escalated from there into absolute insanity. The Principal and the school's white faculty members lacked the spine to put their foot down, perhaps because of fear of being branded as racists, just like Weinstein got branded as one. You had students walking around the Campus grounds with Baseball bats and other potentially dangerous tools, assaulting unsuspecting students based on their skin-tone or sexual orientation. This is unacceptible. Absolutely evil. And the University Police have been told to stand down, and just let these fucking shitstains run rampant without hinderance. This shit needs to stop. I don't care how it's done, but people's careers, lives and opportunities are being jeapordized because of this madness, and that's far from okay. People study at Universities to learn... they don't go there to be assaulted. This behaviour that's been displayed at Evergreen is cancerous and wrong. Please, look at yourselves. Take a goood look at yourself in the mirror. If you took part in an assault there at Evergreen, you are not looking at the face of an accepting LGBTQ+ Member or a person of color. What you are looking at is the face of a savage tyrant willing to go as far as physically hurting people in order to silence them. And that's all because of some arbitrary reason like Skin Color, Sexual Orientation or gender. WAKE UP! You are behaving like a fucking savage. The least you can do is try to see the other side's perspective on things. Their reality right now is MUCH, MUUUUUCH worse than you think. Imagine, for just a second, that you have to be afraid of being beaten to a bloody pulp by some asshats with baseball bats on your way to school. Every. Single. Day. Now who's the oppressed? Certainly not you. Unless of course, you're one of the unfortunate souls who are being targeted by this kind of violence. If so, my thoughts are with you. Stay strong, and keep studying. That's what universities are for.

I'll never get this reasoning
Why do people insist on passing the sins from the past onto present day people? It's a really dumb Idea which I'll never understand, because it doesn't make a shred of sense. A human being should only be held accountable for their own choices and actions done in life, rather than being judged for what their ancestors did. I think we can all agree that Slave Labor is wrong. Sins, no matter what anyone else tells you, stick with the person who committed them in the first place. I'm sure that NO-ONE out there has a family tree without someone whose actions would be considered wrong in modern society. Hypothetically speaking, if my great, great grandfather was a slavedriver of black people, should I be held accountable for his sins? Should my children or my grandchildren need to bear those sins as well? OF COURSE NOT! That very Idea is preposterous! We don't naturally inherit sins. Nor Should we. History exists so we can take a look back and learn from the mistakes of our ancestors. Now, I know very well that the people who think this way are a minority amongst the colored population (especially where I live), but it's still a toxic way of thinking that really doesn't do anyone any good. I'm sorry that stuff like this is coming out of my tumblr page, but I really need to get this crap off my chest, okay? Peace out.

This makes my skin crawl
Hello there, fellow tumblrs!
I’m just gonna go out there and say this right now: I’m gonna rant about Cultural Appropriation and how stupid it is to think that it’s a hatecrime. So if you’re an SJW, just go ahead and read this, I don’t care what you think.
For starters, let’s get into who I am. I’m a white, cishet male from Sweden, with finnish and russian roots (The latter’s pretty far back though). With that out of the way, let’s get into why I think people going out and saying X Race can’t go wear Y Race’s Clothing and so on is a stupid and childish idea that should’ve been abolished long ago.
For those of you fortunate souls who have not heard of what Cultural Appropriation is, let me tell you what it means. It’s basically when members of one culture steals the traditions, foods and art from another culture and “Appropriates” it into their own. Pretty simple, yes? Well, not exactly. Because the SJW party, and anyone who really supports this idea of making it illegal is using the term wrongly, for starters. Just because I, a swedish, white man decide to dress up like a native american doesn’t mean I’m appropriating their culture. I’m not physically preventing them from wearing their clothing or practicing their beliefs. But that’s what the SJW’s want you to believe that you’re doing. In a sense, they want a sort of “Copyright” system for cultures and traditions, which is very hard to enforce.
Okay! Now you know what it is, and what it affects, let's take a look at how this would affect EVERYONE! And of course, why I think branding it as racist is the stupidest and most (ironically enough) racist fucking idea to ever grace tumblr, or whatever other places you may go to.
Let's play with the thought that for some reason this idea was accepted into an international sociey. Consuming basic things like Beer, Pasta, Thai Food and Saké etc. would be considered to be xenophobic by SJW standards, which to me is a preposterous idea. I’m not taking these away from you by eating or drinking any of it, ye? I mean, you can drink just as much Saké as I can. Now taking or placing the credit on some other culture entirely can cause problems, that I will admit. Like saying for instance that Vodka comes from Germany, when it is in fact a Russian drink, to make a ludicrus example. THAT is actual appropriation. But if I sit down, and wear something non-religious, like say a kimono or get myself some sick dreadlocks or cornrows, that’s not appropriation, as I’m not claiming or taking it away from the culture it comes from. That’s me appreciating that culture, unless I’m really making a mockery out of it, I.E Making something similiar to that of a blackface about it. Then it’s racist.
Calling cultural sharing racist is a silly notion. We’re all humans, in the end. We are all the same, regardless of where we are from, or where we go. If I wanna go dress like an ancient egyptian pharaoh for halloween, let me do so without screeching like a god damn harpy. I’m not doing it to be mean. I’m doing so because it’s a cool and creepy aesthetic which works very well for a halloween atmosphere. An ancient, mummified royal sounds pretty interesting and cool to me. I love the egyptian history, as it’s so rich and different from the culture of Surströmming (which is fucking disgusting, may I add) Kräftskivor and so on that I grew up with. Is it so wrong to reach out and try new things, if only for just a little bit? I love Thai food, I love Pasta and Babootie (That’s a south-african dish, by the way. Freaking amazing stuff. Try it out.) I’m not gonna throw a hissyfit because people wanna dress up as Vikings for some holiday or wear Thor’s hammer as a piece of Jewelry.
And don't come and say that Whites have no culture. We have a very rich culture spread across multiple countries in Europe. I've already stated a bunch of examples of white culture above. Scottish garb, beer, wine, rum, vodka, knighthood, classic fantasy, sci-fi, the foundations of your liberalist ideas come from France even for christ’s sake. The list goes on and on! And before you say that white cultures can't be appropriated, you blatantly stand by that disgusting double standard that it only applies when whites does it, and no one else. White cultures have been oppressed in the past (Sure, by other whites, but oppressed nontheless) but that doesn't mean that it doesn't exist or hasn't existed in the past. Want a current day example? Look at Ireland. It's arguably one of the most oppressed white societies in modern day. Want something less recent? Look at the Nazi Holocaust. Jews were being hunted like animals and put into slave camps. I am pretty sure that whatever oppression your race has been through, it's not been NEARLY as bad as what the jews have gone through over the millenia. And they are white... for the most part anyway. Now, if some of you out there want to adopt some scandinavian viking culture, go ahead. I'm not gonna be offended if you wanna drink mead or dress up like a lanky, black viking, or what have you. And you shouldn't be offended either when someone respectfully dresses up in your culture's clothing, or eats traditional food which has it's origins from wherever else. It's childish and stupid. You're getting angry over something that should be positive. Making the world more aware of what other cultures bring only makes us less racist. By separating cultures from oneanother, we’ll only breed more xenophobia. The less we have to do with eachother, the more we’ll start to resent oneanother. Of course, there are other causes for racist and fascist behaviours than just being separated from another culture.
But here’s a good example of how a racist mind could be born. Let’s say for instance that you live in a society where just recently some green-skinned humanoids immigrate. You’ve had absolutely zero interaction or experience with them before. And the first thing you see is one of them robbing and stabbing one of your own before running away. The Human brain likes to put things into categories, or stereotypes for easier management. That way, when you see something new, you make a new “file” which you can easily access later with information you’ve gathered regarding this paticular subject. This very fact has been proven several times in psychological studies. So after seeing this man commit this crime, you, subconsciously, start to think that perhaps all green-skinned men are somewhat into crimminal behaviour. This isn’t necessarily true, but since you have only this bit of experience with this alien race, you of course start treating them according to your experience. It’s not that hard to grasp, really.
So, the main cause for racism is indeed ignorance. Ignorance we would breed by separating us from oneanother, and only hanging out with our own. Why do you think the whites saw themselves as superior to the other races when we first met? Because our culture at that stage was more advanced and perhaps civilized due to the opportunities we’ve had, that others may have lacked. We didn’t know much about these new people and as such, we began to think that we were superior, and started bossing around with the poor blacks, which was a horrible thing to do.
If any form of Cultural Appropriation became a punishable crime worldwide, it would have the REVERSE effect of what you self-proclaimed ”Social Justice Warriors” want. Because with that, you would create “Culturally Isolated” societies, where eventually people would get racist. I get it, I get where you want this to go. A Racist-free society, yeah? Well, Racial and Cultural segregation is not the way to go. As I discussed earlier, racism is grounded in ignorance and fear of another race, which gives birth to the hate and what have you. If we shut cultures away from eachother, it would only reinforce that fear and ignorance, which is not what we want, yes? So why not open our doors instead, let people in and allow them to understand why your culture dresses up the way they do, why it's food is so significant... Our international society would be so much healthier if we could all just embrace our differences and allow anyone to partake in whatever they want, so long as it's not Physically or economically hurting someone else. I'm sorry if your feelings are hurt, but this bullshit makes my skin crawl. I hate having people tell me what I can and cannot do because of my skin color, sexual orientation or gender. And so should you.
And that's why I think treating Cultural Appropriation as racism is stupid. I don’t see any racists indulging in other cultures. Do you? Did the KKK have dreadlocks? Do white supremacists wear Burkas? NO! They pushed away that, because it belonged to a culture they hated and believed themselves to be superior to. Appropriating another culture isn’t racism. It’s preventing that racism.

We have HOPE! AYYYY!
hi! So I'll be donating to your patreon on my next payday, and even though it's mainly to show appreciation for actual well done Yugioh content, I have to wonder what the chances of you covering E•Heros are? I understand you probably hate that question and that E•heroes would be a lengthy video due to all the heroes and their support, but I thought I'd ask. Also, you'd get a chance to cry about stratos, which I do on the daily. Thanks anyway and have a great day!
It’s definitely going to be a pretty long video one day; not sure if I’ll get around to it this year, but it will happen for sure

In the vast universe, the history of humanity is but a flash of light from a lone star. The life of a single person should be lost in space and time. But among the stars, there is one light that burns brighter than all others. The light of Samus Aran. Her battles extend beyond her life, and etch themselves into history.

What I didn't like about Other M was how... for one, the railroading. It just... didn't belong in a metroid game. But not only that, it was also the portrayal of samus that I didn't like. It's not the Ridley scene that I have problems with, oh no. It's the stuff with Adam, and their relationship. Specifically, the scene where Adam leaves for Sector 0. What happens as a result of that scene is a sin all on it's own, but I digress. I can get behind that, but the scene itself didn't convey that... What it showed was a Weak Samus that can't make decisions on her own, despite that we've seen her do so both later on, and Prior to it, decisions that both involved disobeying orders (See Metroid 2 and Metroid Fusion). She's dealt with Metroids more than ANYONE in the entire galaxy, and even if she lacked the Ice beam, Adam himself lacked the Missles. He couldn't kill them even if he wanted to. I personally think Sector Zero would've been a great thing had the scene been handled differently, and Samus forcing herself in there with Adam in a sort of Co-op style game-play. That would've been neat, and show quite well that Samus CAN rely on others. She had feelings for him. I'm sure she could've protested way more, and even stopped the love of her life to go face certain death. She's a responsible woman, but not to the point where obeying Military orders will stop her. I'm not saying She's objectified or anything of the sort. I just feel like she was portrayed poorly as a lover of her profession. Then there's the Hell-run in the Pyro-sphere. You know, when she doesn't turn on her Varia Suit? Use your head, god damn it. What the crap is the Varia Suit gonna do to jeapordize the Operation? I can see things like Missles, Bombs, and her other tools being issues, but the fact that she can't wear the Varia Suit in AN AREA WHERE HEAT-ISOLATING CLOTHING IS REQUIRED is just stupid. Sure, walking through a heated area without it is fine from a gameplay standpoint, but come ON. Samus nor Adam can be THAT stupid. They are both proffessionals that KNOW that stupid decisions in their line of work can be fatal. And without Samus, regardless of what happens, the mission would've failed. They can't deal with a Metroid Queen without her.
On objectification of women because a lot of people don’t get it.
I sort of wanted to make this post during Other M, but I feel a few comments on the latest Rabi Ribi have shown me this needs mentioned.
What a character is wearing has NOTHING to do with how sexualized or objectified the character is. NONE. AT ALL.
The only thing that determines is the age rating of the game/movie/whatever.
What DOES matter is WHY the character is dressed as it is, and how the game TREATS the character. Now I don’t mean in-universe “why”. That crap can be explained with the flimsiest of excuses and be perfectly valid. No. What matters is why the artist/developer made this decision.
If you wanted to you could have full nudity and it not be sexualized or objectified at all. Similarly, you could have someone wearing much more and it be very disrespectful. When you go to the beach, is every woman in a bikini there being sexualized? No, they’re at the beach. It’s for water’s sake and heat management. Are they all standing around posing for you? Or do they honestly not give a crap about you or what you think of that unattractive pose they’re striking because it’s comfortable?
Okay, so in Rabi-Ribi there’s the fairy Ribbon. Why did the developer decide to have her dressed like that? If there even is a reason, was there another way to convey that? Does the plot and her personality support the way she’s dressed? Does she act like someone who would dress like that? It’s not just manner of dress, but actions, and how the game treats characters.
When Erina first became human, we were shown a splash image of her. Note her pose and camera angle during this. The way her cleavage is shown, the way her butt sticks up. How necessary was this? What reason did the developer have for this specific angle and pose? I’d maybe hear a rationale that this is how bunny’s sit, so she’s in the same pose having just transformed. You could still very easily angle the camera not to be down her cleavage. You could lower her butt down some to a more sitting position and convey the exact same thing, but just be less sexual about it. Briefly stepping aside to other games, remember Mass Effect? Why does the camera zoom in on that one female’s butt when you’re talking to her? Perhaps the camera angle showed a specific mood? Was there a way to get this without her butt in a skin-tight outfit taking up half the screen? (Image taken from a quick Google search)
Really, imagine a male in the exact same pose, in the exact same situation, and see how uncomfortable it makes you. If it makes you uncomfortable, that’s what it’s doing to most any female who sees that. A reminder this isn’t just about sexualization. And that sexualization isn’t just about the societal standard of sexy. In the general market of Rabi-Ribi’s audience, clumsiness is a turn-on. Embarrassment is a turn-on. Ditzyness is a turn-on. See how much these things are pushed in these characters to make them desirable. Again, this isn’t just about sexualization, but more importantly objectification. It’s making these characters seem more like objects to be played with and acquired than actual people.
Let’s step away from Rabi-Ribi. A common argument is that men are often scantily dressed as well. But recall the FIRST thing I said here. What the character is wearing does not matter. WHY the character is wearing it matters. Why is Kratos wearing little more than a loincloth? Well, to show off his huge, muscular body. Why are we showing this off? Is the goal to make ladies swoon? No. Not at all. “But some ladies like that!” some may argue, and while that may be true, that’s simply not a valid argument because the goal of Kratos’s design isn’t to be sexy. The goal of Kratos’s design is to feel powerful. He looks powerful. He looks like he could do larger-than-life things. And in this regard he fits the bill perfectly. The player feels powerful because they’re controlling someone that looks powerful. He does NOT look sexy.
Let’s look at Bayonetta. She’s a very sexy character. However, when looking at why the developer could have made this decision, we see a lot of things that fit together with it. Yes, she looks sexy, but why? Because she’s confident in her sexuality, and a flirt. Her personality backs up why she dresses this way. Who she is, at her core, defends why she dresses this way. In fact, if the only thing that changed was how she dressed it simply wouldn’t fit the character any more. But why is her personality like that? Why is she like that? To appease some male gaze? To be attractive to the player? Not at all. She’s attractive for her own sake. She’s confident in herself and doesn’t pander to anybody, even the player. Instead of many games which put a character’s sexuality out there and effectively tease the player with “You could have this”, Bayonetta says “Yes, I’m sexy, and you CAN’T have this.” She’s there to stand up for herself, be confident in herself, and control herself in a world where men typically have control over women. Important to note is a cultural disparity with Bayonetta as well. Stateside we see anything sexy as being detrimental to women, but in Japan, a woman’s sexuality is typically “owned” by men. Women have very few rights over their own body. A character like Bayonetta that owns HERSELF is seen as being very empowering to women in Japan.
I’ll say again. WHAT a character is wearing has NOTHING to do with how sexualized or objectified a character is. WHY the character is dressed, or how the character acts, or how the game treats her. That is what the question is. Subtle things like camera angle and pose. Do they fit the character? The world? Is the most logical explanation that it’s there because it’s sexy or to make the character more desirable? Or does the character stand on her own, with confident rationale that has nothing to do with the viewer?
Not WHAT. WHY.
Opinion time. I actually don’t think objectification or sexualization is 100% a bad thing. However, it needs to be done in smaller doses, it can’t be a norm we resort to, and it needs to go both ways! Having a few female characters that perhaps dress a little more attractively than they “should” is fine. Be a little tantelizing. But right now, it’s the norm that ALL female characters are. If you get to pick gender, you get a normal looking dude and a sexualized female. Both are designed to be seen and appeal to male viewers. And lets get some sexy guys in there! Audience is also important. Stuff like super objectifying dating sims or even ero games are fine, they’re clearly designed for only a male audience. But we need the same for females. We’re starting to get a few female-focused dating sim stuff out there, but they pale in comparison to the sheer amount and intensity of the ocean of male-focused sims.
I don’t think it’s all bad, but it can’t be the norm, and we need to appeal to everyone.
