“Ah, Wolfbell there you are- pray tell, what are you doing?”

Meta Knight approached his apprentice from behind, one of her ears swivelling backwards ever so slightly to acknowledge his voice.

But she did not move from where she stood in the shallow water, tail and wings arched, her stance still as a statue. His eyes flickered a shade of contemplating green as he tried and failed to make immediate sense of her actions.

He could just faintly see the glow of her eyes in the reflection of the water, and his confusion only grew. He she dropped something in the water-?

Suddenly she sprung into movement, a paw swiping at the water, claws hooking into the scales of an unexpected little fish and tossing it to the stream’s bank. Swiftly she sprung after it, pinning it down before it could flop back into the water and away from the clever little hunter.

“…… you were using your shadow to trick the fish into swimming close to you thinking there would be shelter, and with that vision.. even in the water and poor lighting, you could see.” He finally realized, eyes following up with a faint blue tint. “Impressive.”

She beamed a bit at the praise, tail wagging and thumping as she held her catch proudly in her jaws.

“Though you should not consume that raw,” he added quickly, and he turned and beckoned her. “Follow, I’ll show you how my own mentor taught me to cook fish.”

She winced. Oh- oh no. Meta Knight’s cooking was- questionable.

“Wolfbell, keep up.” he called again.

Oh well. At the very least, learning to start fires would be useful, and maybe when he wasn’t looking she could gobble this down before his bad culinarily skills could get ahold of it. She readjusted her hold on the fish, scampering after him.

I changed Zilla’s backstory a little bit, realizing that being puffball-like, they’d meet the criteria of Cruce’s interest.

So now their backstory is that Cruce found them after the consumption of their colony, Zilla being a type of dark matter known as a shadow eater, which exists within a colony to cull weaker, defective or otherwise hazardous members to assure the overall benefit of the greater colony. Much like how honey bees will kick out male bees from the hive come fall, to assure the colony will survive winter.

For some reason Cruce is yet to determine, Zilla consumed its entire colony. She currently contains and studies it, deeming it Subject 261. In particular she’s fascinated in its interesting ability to completely reverse the effects of dark matter possession.

Echino was born on Baryte in a litter of four, being the runt of said litter her parents worried that if she wouldn't survive, and when she did make it to toddler age, they began to instead worry she would simply not be able to amount for much. But as Echino got older and began to understand her parents' fears, she vowed to prove them wrong.

Echino began apprenticeship under a senior hunter in the sept by the name Meloi, and began learning to hunt, trap and fight under the older aviset's guidance. She was a very persistent student, never allowing her failures to keep her from learning, though she gained some scarring along the way. Eventually she reached a point where she was able to hunt on her own, and from there she quickly started rising in the ranks as she trapped all kinds of prey. As she got older she got more ambitious, targeting the larger and more dangerous animals of Baryte. She became a prized trapper within her sept, no longer was she doubted, but still she was driven to do more. She made it her goal to trap every kind of animal there was to trap on Baryte. That goal was, after several years of hunting, completed. And with it..she found the drive to do more still.

She left Baryte behind to hunt new prey elsewhere, and it was during her travels she came across a bounty hunter's guild. It was perfect, a way to keep hunting, but now her targets posed more of a thrilling challenge.

Flare Okarda: (he/him)

The one and only. A fugitive from the pjofur society after he went insane, Flare is the 4th iteration of a project gone horribly wrong meant to give the society its ‘greatest gift’. Now on the loose infected with a highly destructive fatal logic error, the universe isn’t safe from Flare’s chaos.

Jakob Nuygara: (he/him)

Born a second class citizen, Jakob suffered a lot of hardship in his early childhood, including the death of his parents who weren’t able to achieve reincarnation status. Using such as a drive, he scratched and clawed his way up until he earned his reincarnation and first class citizenship. Becoming a teacher at the lead teaching institution, Jakob saw the future of the society was in the hands of the youth. This inspired him to create the ‘greatest gift to society’ a project that would end up causing him nothing but misery.

Jokull Nuygara: (he/him)

The 3rd iteration of the greatest gift project, Jokull was renowned by the society as a prodigy, a revolutionist who would deliver the society to a new era of technology. A brilliant mind, he was known for being diligent and dedicated to his work, albeit impossible to speak to outside of a work setting. Many regarded him as perfect, that was, until he one day went insane shortly after reincarnating.

Prince Stali Sitotya: (he/him)

The son of the tyrant Queen Suicuna and the sporddreki prince she married, Stali was her attempt at creating an heir. Only she was quickly met with a horrifying discovery, the child was completely and entirely immune to her mind control. Suicuna would attempt several times to remake Stali, driving him to insanity in the process. After multiple failures, she elected to show Stali ‘mercy’ and allowed him to live and gave him to a servant living in the palace, confident that his mental state would prevent him from ever being a threat.

Fjola Eidur: (she/her)

The daughter of a pjofur named Helgi, head of the botanical department, Fjola was raised alongside Jokull and eventually the two were set up in an arranged marriage and made to be each others’ assigned partners. While she’s a skilled technician, programmer and talented in data analysis, she was often overlooked or only known for her association to Jokull.

Last funky guy is a hypothetical character who may or may not be further developed, but they’re an ulfur free from the control of the queen.

I kinda had a new original species idea in mind.

So I was thinking more about like, the Lor, and if there was ever more ships like it. And I was thinking of a species known as The Navigators, who have a ship like it, but much, much larger, like, colony ship sized. Much like the Lor this ship is also sentient, making decisions to take care of the colony on board. They’re a species that diverged from whatever you call Magolor’s species.

I think The Navigators would be renowned for, well, their navigation and mapping of the universe. Once a Navigator visits a location once, or travels a route, they will remember it for the rest of their life. But they’re also well known for their magic, which would be extraordinarily powerful.

I think their society on board would genuinely be a true Utopia, the community having a sound and righteous community of leaders to govern them. The needs of all those on board are met, creating a strong, healthy community. No doubt in all their travels, they’ve seen many other societies, and some atrocities spawning from greed, violence and corruption. To such they gave a big ‘no thanks’ and didn’t do any of that, making life on board peaceful, stable and safe for all.

I just picture classes taught on the upper deck of the ship, teachers showing the next generations the constellations and galaxies and planets that their own teacher taught them about to use to navigate. Children having expressions of wonder as they get to learn magic and art peacefully. They’d be welcoming to those they came across, and a very curious species.

Key traits being that their paw pads, sclera and tail tuft have galaxy patterns unique like a zebra’s stripes. Their fur is always some dark colour, and their eye colour always bright and glowing. Starry freckles are very common.

It’s redraw time! April 20th, 2023 vs January 12th, 2025!

This was one of my first major art pieces for Wolfbell! She often climbs the cliff below the castle, climbing being the one thing to ease her anxieties.

I’m happy of just how far Wolfbell’s story has come, and that I’ve been able to stick to her story for so long. And soon, I’ll be able to finish it and reveal everything.

The mycelium is more or less farming the biome’s environment, growing algae species into it, giving it that green colour, and allowing it to take energy as the algae converts energy from the sun via kleptoplasty. “Glow slime are a species of protosteloid amoebae, which have formed a symbiotic relationship with the brunt spirals fungi. The amoeba get food in the form of the burnt spirals’ spores, as well as any bacteria, which in turn minimize the burnt spirals’ spread so they don’t grow in such an abundance that would prove harmful to the overall environment, which would come back and harm the spirals themselves in the end.
