How did you originally get into trc? And who’s ur fav character and why

OMG OK. so I originally got into trc by seeing so much of it on pinterest and tumblr too! i was really interested by the fact that everyone who have read it LOVE it. my fav character is Adam. i honestly love him more then ANY fictional character ever and he is so so so so dear to me. i love him because i get him. i find a lot of ways to relate to him espicially in the first two books (before he had his character development) because hes so real and flawd like all of us and i love that about him.

Screaming crying throwing up thinking about how all the beautiful and strange and fantastical animals Ronan dreams up flock to Declan, Disney Princess style. How the floating lights in trk want to go home with Declan. How Ronan dreamt up Chainsaw, the truest and most tender part of his soul, after the Nino's fight in trc. Thinking about how much Matthew loves Declan despite being created to be his replacement, to be Ronan's better-loved and better-loving brother.

Thinking about how even after all the years, all the time and effort and energy Ronan put into hating Declan, he is betrayed by his own creations. No matter what he does, his dreams can't help but love Declan, because Ronan can't help but love his brother.

i find it so interesting when people take adam’s analysis of gansey as fact when it’s clearly shown that there are parts of gansey that adam doesn’t know yet, and that sometimes both his idolization and resentment alters his assessment of him:

an example is adam saying to blue in trb that gansey is friends with ronan because “it makes him feel better about being gansey” which is such an interesting take that he says with such certainty. it definitely has some truth to it but also comes from adams at the time lack of understanding of ronan and jealousy of their friendship. gansey is friends with ronan because ronan is fiercely loyal and honest, which adam doesn’t really understand yet, so he states what he understands of it as fact.

another one is gansey on fire, which ronan clearly tells us that adam has never seen because gansey significantly calms down when he’s with adam. adam talks a lot about ganseys innocence and ignorance, especially when it comes to more of the darker things they deal with (whelk, kavinsky, greenmantle) but he has no idea that gansey himself can be just as wild (like he has no idea gansey watched ronan punch kavinsky at the substance party and threw a molotov cocktail at kavinsky car) so when adam describes gansey, especially at the start, he still thinks of gansey as this innocent magnanimous person because that is all he sees

taking adam’s perception of gansey at face value as fact really dilutes their relationship and their characters and i think is where a lot of mischaracterization of gansey comes from. gansey isn’t just the innocent golden boy, and adam is not a perfect narrator, especially when it comes to his view of gansey (but is also seen with blue and ronan too) — i think as their friendships deepens he gains better understanding but it’s important to remember for both of their characterizations!

It feels criminal how little of a fandom this webtoon has. It has taken my world by storm. I am obsessed. I have so many theories, and I have done so much analysis on the characters and the story. It actually got me writing (I don't write narratives, this is the first in like 6 years, longer if we're talking not assigned), I did not forsee that happening. Anyways, go read Post Harbor, and hmu if you want to talk about it. I would love to hear your takes.

Ronan when he doesn’t dream frfr

there is something so profound about adam and blue, the lonesome but not alone, being the only ones without siblings

sibling relationships have such important weight in trc, for better and for worse. the lynch brothers, helen, neeve, mr. grays brother, noah’s sisters, laumonier.

gansey getting to be fully himself around helen and not needing to pretend. mr. grays brother being so horrible that it defines grays life. noah’s sister speaking at aglionby seven years later. just, the lynch brothers in full.

but blue and adam don’t have that. they’re solitaire, surrounded by people who are not the same and don’t really understand. when adam moves out, when maura goes missing, although they have people, they still are dealing with it alone because no one just gets them yet.
