New Year's Eve with friends!

Note: Jillian Ambrose is from Bran's BC. While she has a very full life in @queeniecook simblr, Queenie was happy that I gave Jillian an AU HEA, providing Bran's kiddos with friends. The family also has four cats: Milo, Siggy, Duchess, and Rani.

Gemma woke up gasping, her face wet with tears. It wasn’t fair! The life she could have had if only Del, Mrs. Potter, and Kelly hadn’t stood in the way. She inhaled deeply, recalling the warmth of Viviana’s motherly embrace. Gemma couldn’t change the past, but her future looked bright. And today, she’d meet with her father and stepmother. This would be a fantastic day if they were half as wonderful as in her dreams.

Gemma found Markus in the kitchen cooking turkey bacon and eggs. He smiled as he plated their food.

Markus: Are you ready for visitors?

Gemma: I’m insanely nervous. I wonder how Lydia will react. Do you think she’ll be upset?

Markus: Lydia seems very fond of you from what I’ve seen. I wouldn’t worry about that.

Gemma: Should we clean the house after breakfast?

Markus: Babe, between cleaning the house for Harvest Day and this visit, I don’t think there’s a speck of dust anywhere, not even on the light bulbs.

Gemma: What am I supposed to do between breakfast and lunch?

Markus: Knit? Make jewelry?

Gemma: I don’t think I could focus.

Markus: We could watch a movie.

Gemma shook her head.

Gemma: I won’t be able to sit still; I need to do something.

Markus: Maybe we should clean?

Gemma: Yes, that’s a good idea.

Markus grinned and shook his head.

Gemma ran shrieking playfully from Chessie, who was pretending to be a monster. Gemma stumbled and knocked Viviana’s drink to the ground.

Gemma: (shrieking) I sowwy! I sowwy!

Gemma dove under the dining table and curled up in a ball.

Gemma: (sobbing) I sowwy! I sowwy! I bad girl! I bad girl. I stop cwying. Pwease don’t be mad. I stop cwying.

Chessie burst into sympathetic tears and crawled under the table, hugging her sister. Tears streamed down Carlotta’s face.

Carlotta: Why is she crying? It was an accident!

Viviana struggled to hold back her own tears and barely managed to tamp down her rage at Kelly, for now. She bent down to peer under the table.

Viviana: (soothingly) It’s okay, Gemma. Accidents happen. Nobody is angry with you. And you’re not a bad girl.

Chessie: (still crying) You’re a good girl, Gemma! You’re a good girl!

Carlotta: Look, Gemma, I’m wiping it up now. It’s okay. It’s all clean.

Gemma: (whimpering) I want Daddy.

Viviana: (gently) He’s at work, sweetheart. He’ll be home soon.

Viviana crawled under the table and gently touched Gemma’s back. Her heart shattered when Gemma flinched at the touch. She softly stroked Gemma’s back and hair.

Viviana: Accidents happen, and we clean them up together.

Gemma raised her head and looked at Viviana with red-rimmed eyes.

Gemma: I help.

Viviana: Next time, you can help. Carlotta helped this time. No one is angry with you.

Gemma: I bad girl.

Viviana: No. You are not a bad girl. We all make mistakes.

Viviana opened her arms up for a hug. Chessie scrambled for her mother’s arms, dragging Gemma with her. Viviana held them both close, and Gemma’s rigid little body melted into her stepmother’s arms.

Viviana: If I ever get my hands on Kelly, I will choke the life out of her. Gemma was terrified!

Edward: I will never forgive myself for the years Gemma had to live with that woman.

Viviana: Thank goodness that we have her now. I hope she can forget or get past that trauma.

Edward: She’s young enough that I hope she can forget Kelly altogether.

Edward suddenly stiffened.

Edward: Speak of the devil!

Edward and Viviana watched the commercial for lingerie with expressions of distaste on their faces.

Viviana: That is Kelly? I thought Gemma favored her mother?

Edward: That is Kelly after a plastic surgery binge. She had her scar removed and just kept going.

Viviana: How does she keep from toppling forward? And why have that much work?

Edward shook his head.

Edward: On the bright side, Gemma isn’t likely to readily recognize her mother. I wouldn’t have recognized her if Mum hadn’t sent an updated picture of her, so we could keep an eye out.

Viviana: I want to adopt Gemma. I won’t push her into calling me her mother, but I want to protect her if something happens to you.

Edward: I’d like that very much.

While I generally dislike the very busy Sims 4 welcome screen. I do like my pixel babies greeting me 😍

Coming this week: a new/first pet for the Flex family! I literally rolled the die to choose between a puppy and a kitten. I just made the wee new family member in CAS 🥺💗

Also, I'm hoping to open up Gemma's file again. I haven't spent time writing on her story in ages, because I've been focused on my AU story/novel. However, I have twenty-one posts already written. I just need to find poses and take screenshots. Alas, I have a love-hate relationship with poses 😒
