Zuri's eyes widened a little as she listened to their story, laughing as Indy made it clear that there was no way the mistake was their own. "Oh I've been there," she agreed, "but I am usually the drunk person with an over inflated sense of self." Zuri smiled, "maybe we need to get you some self defense classes, would've loved to see you knock that guy on his ass."

"—so then this guy totally tried jumping over the bar to make his own drink 'cause he said I fucked it up. Yeah, right." Indy scoffs, gesturing wildly with their spoon before dipping it back into their ice cream, savoring the bite. "Security was on his ass so fast. It was honestly kind of epic if I wasn't slightly afraid for my wellbeing. Drunk people, man. They think they're invincible."

Zuri loved summer because it meant cute shorts, comfy tops and nice jackets as the weather got cooler, plus dresses, Zuri loved summer dresses. She smiled as she spotted her friend from a distance, over the years she'd watched Toby grow more and more into themselves, and it never failed to make her smile. "Are you saying that I'm second choice?" she asked with a raised eyebrow, before laughing lightly. "I'm attempting to save money, which means no more tattoos," she pouted. She shook her head at the question, "nope, not seen them at all, but I will keep my eyes peeled because you know I love drama."

Summer was well and truly on its way to New York, which meant Toby was more comfortable shedding their baggy nineties style long-sleeved skater tees and denim overjackets to replace them with a very well-fitted white tank underneath a plaid buttoned shirt. The tightness of the white tank top showed off their flat chest and the edges of their top surgery scars in a way that made Toby feel confident and, dare they say it, cute. Seeing Zuri, Toby greeted her with a smile. "Hey!" They lifted up a pool cue, gesturing to the table. "My pal just bailed on me because he got into a fight with his girlfriend. Wanna play?" they asked, already setting up the table. "Haven't seen you around the shop in a bit." They paused a second, unsure if they wanted to go there. "Don't suppose you've talked to or seen Daya in the last week or two?"

Zuri was thankful for the life that Julien had given her but that didn't stop her teasing him at every possible opportunity. She rolled her eyes as he called her a brat but took the phone that he offered her. "I suggested you get back into dating, I didn't volunteer to pimp you out, this isn't Billboard Dad," she said with a laugh, knowing he probably wouldn't get her Olsen twin reference. "Also, when you talk about security concerns you sound like you're in the CIA or something," she said with a laugh. She opened the app store, "what apps do old people use?" she questioned, she knew what apps she used but she was also very aware of what she used those apps for, and that was not what she was signing her dad up for.

When Julien had imagined life in his fifties, he'd never pictured it like this, but despite all of the things he would change, Jules had to admit that, for the most part, his life was good. Most of that could be attributed to his daughter, though. She was the light of his life, and even though she was old enough to have a life of her own, Jules was grateful that Zuri still chose to be a part of his. "Okay, you little brat," he began as he entered the living room carrying two glasses and a bottle of wine, "you win." He set the bottle down on the small wooden coffee table and plopped unto the couch. With one hand, he slid his cell phone from the pocket of his shorts and handed it over to his daughter. "I'm going to let you sign me up for one dating app, but I only plan to be on it for a month. If I run into anyone who'd be a potential security concern, I'll delete the app and never look back. So choose wisely."

this just in! ZURI SOTO has just been spotted in town. Wait. You don’t know who SHE is? the 30 year old SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER has been in town for, like, HER ENTIRE LIFE. they’re known to be quite LOUD, but being CARING seems to balance that out. or maybe it’s the fact that they resemble AISHA DEE. personally, i’d love to know more about them seeing as how they’ve got those chai tea, reusable coffee cups and clothes all over the floor vibes. and maybe i’ll get my chance if i hang out around DOWNTOWN long enough!

Zuri Carter Soto didn't have the greatest start in life. Her father left before she was even born and she was 3 when her mother died in a car accident. Her mom had no family aside from ageing parents who weren't prepared to do it all over again so Zuri ended up in the foster care system. She was a cute toddler with no medical issues or behaviour problems so she was adopted rather quickly and ended up with two new parents, Claudia and Julien.

It took a little adjustment but the three of them became a close knit group, as if they'd always been a trio. Zuri was doted on but the boundaries were clear and the consistency was everything she needed. As she grew up her personality grew with her. She was charismatic and the life of the party. Zuri enjoyed putting on shows and performances for anyone who would listen and she always made her opinon very clear.

In High School Zuri was a partier, but she was as responsible as a teenager could be and it never intereferred with her studies. She wasn't a top performing student but she passed her classes and the teachers always liked having her in their classes.

She headed to college to study education and then came back to Clearwater to get a job at the elementary school. Currently Zuri is walking contradiction. She's a special education teacher who cares for her pupils and helps them achieve their goals but then on the weekends she's found dancing in nightclubs and flirting with a lot of people. It's almost like Miss Soto and and Zuri are two completely different people.

Zuri is free sprited and confident, always happy to follow her own path and never paying much mind to what anyone else is doing. She doesn't always think through her decisions but she also isn't one to regret, each moment lived is wortwhile in her opinion.
